    Pre Op Binge

I couldn't do that because if I gained weight at all during my 6 month visits my insurance would deny me. I DID have one meal after my pre-op testing appointment and got a Five Guys burger. It really is a test of willpower. You're gonna need that willpower to be strong after surgery too!
  2. Those who have less to lose lose a bit slower because it takes less energy to maintain your body weight. Even for those who start at a high weight the weight comes off quickly in the beginning and gradually slows down when you start nearing your goal. You'll still lose just fine and exercising will certainly help!

    After surgery questions

I'm 14 months post op. Cravings haven't gone away, but I have learned to control them. I still eat the foods I love and crave but far less often and in much smaller amounts. I do feel full, and I do still feel hungry. If I ate somewhat recently I drink some Water and wait. I know some people had their hunger controlled from the surgery but I was hungry right away, it just takes much less for me to feel satisfied!
  4. Thank you! Admittedly, I don't really exercise which I suppose is a no-no but I have two jobs and when I'm not working I'm sleeping. I eat about 1200 calories a day, give or take a couple hundred. I exceed my nutrionists goal of 55g of Protein a day. I don't dwell on carbs too much because fruit and veggies have carbs, I just stay away from a lot of starch and sugar. Thankfully sweets make me sick so there's no problem there! I don't pay too much attention to macros, I just make sure to count my calories, keep it reasonable, and plan my "nights out" or treats accordingly. I've found a good balance, my doctor is thrilled with what I'm doing, and I'm still losing about 2 lbs a week so it seems to be working just fine for me!

  6. I was sleeved on the 1st and I'm having a really hard time getting fluids in. Every time I take a sip my stomach gurgles and I burp, it's pretty uncomfortable! I'm only a couple of days out so I don't know if this is gas or just something that happens now. Has anyone else experienced this and what can I do to lessen all the rumbling so I can actually get my Fluid and Protein in?!
  7. Surgery date 12/1 SW: 267 CW: 195 Pretty happy about the progress so far! Of course I wish I could get down to a healthy weight faster but I'll take the 72 lb loss any day Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    December sleeve

I was sleeved December 1st. My highest weight was 267 last June. I was 255 pre-op and I weighed 195 this morning. I'm hovering anywhere from 900-1200 which my surgeon and nutritionist both think is great. I only track my calories on the days I plan on having a drink or two or if I've eaten things that might be high in calories. It's near impossible for me to overeat so I just focus on my Protein and keep my sugar and carbs low. Breakfast: An egg with a piece of turkey sausage Snack: A cheese stick, or a piece of rolled up lunch meat with a slice of cheese Lunch: Something like meatballs, fajita veggies with chicken, chicken salad with low fat mayo, etc Snack: A Greek yogurt or a cheese stick Dinner: Tonight it's Salisbury steak made with ground turkey and cauliflower mash I refuse to stick to the "just chicken and veggies" thing. I had this surgery to give me my life back, not feel limited in choices every day. I get a lot of low carb recipes from Pinterest and see if I can lighten them up any further. Like most people, I wish I was progressing faster but I can't complain at all about a 72 lb loss! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Water Nausea

I think it was about 6 weeks after surgery that I could finally drink plain Water. I'm 4 months out and haven't had any issues with it since then! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Alcohol

I was allowed alcohol at 6 weeks. I go out probably every other week but my tolerance isn't what it used to be, I have about 2 drinks and I'm all set. As far as not making any progress while drinking, I've been steadily losing 2-3 pounds a week since my surgery in December. I just make sure my drinks fit in to my calorie goals for the day. 11. I was in the hospital for 3 days. I live alone and REALLY appreciated the time in the hospital, the nurses were a huge help. I took 2 weeks off, I thought I'd be good to go after a week and that just wasn't the case. I was in pain and just so exhausted there was no way I could go back so I ended up taking 2 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    hungry...

I did a lot of reading before surgery and read so much about how if you're hungry then it's probably just head hunger or acid.. Nope. I was truly HUNGRY. At 17 weeks post op the hunger comes on fast and I feel like I'm starving, but the difference is it takes SO MUCH LESS to satisfy me now. I'm not one of the lucky ones that got to experience the "I'm just not hungry" phase, but with tracking my calories I'm right where I'm supposed to be so if I'm hungry I just eat. Hair Loss

I chopped a foot off of my hair a little over a month ago to prepare for the hair loss. It is falling out, not in clumps but I'm having a lot of shedding. So far it hasn't made a huge difference because I have REALLY thick hair.. It's the fact that I'm picking hair off of my shirts that bothers me. I've started taking every Vitamin that Google told me would help with hair loss, I'm hoping that'll at least slow it down! I'm just over 4 months post op. 15. I have 3 meals and usually 2 Snacks in between. If I feel hungry I drink some Water, if I'm still hungry I have a snack.. Usually a cheese stick or veggies and hummus or something. I'm getting about 60-70g of Protein a day, my calories are anywhere from 900-1100 (which my doctor and nutritionist are happy with), and I'm still consistently losing 2-3 lbs a week so snacking hasn't hindered my progress any. If I'm truly hungry, I eat. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. I also use the NOW Foods Whey Protein Isolate (NOT the concentrate! The concentrate is awful!) Inexpensive and pretty tasteless! I put it in my crystal light and it gives it a slight jello-like taste but it's the only protein powder my sleeve tolerates. I can't do anything creamy without getting sick. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. My surgeon told me to just focus on my fluids right after surgery and get in whatever Protein I could. It took about a month before I could get in all of my fluids and protein. shakes make me sick so once I got on solid foods it was much easier! At 3 1/2 months out I'm exceeding my Fluid and protein goals and no need to supplement with Protein powder Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. I appreciate your answer. I know this is a lifestyle change. I just don't think I can completely give up that fun part of myself. Thank you for sharing. I'm gonna wait a couple more months and try it. I don't plan on drinking a lot. But I would be lying if if said I didn't miss it. Good to know you didn't gain. How much have you lost? Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App 46 lbs since December 1st I totally understand because I don't want to give up that part of myself either. You don't have to, just takes a little more planning is all. Look up which drinks have the lowest calories and carbs and count them for the day to make sure you're not going crazy. The good thing is now I only have a drink or two and it does what 5+ used to lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. Sleeved 12/1 - down 46 lbs since surgery and 58 overall. Getting all of my Protein in from food, haven't had to supplement with shakes lately! I do get extremely hungry and no, it's not head hunger or acid. I'm HUNGRY every 2 hours. I keep it low carb. Lots of meat and cheese.. No complaints from me there. There hasn't been any food I can't tolerate. I do feel like I can eat more than I should but at the end of the day when I look at My Fitness Pal I'm still hovering around 1000-1100 calories, which my doctor says is great. I drink here and there and it hasn't slowed my weight loss any and the world hasn't ended. I'm consistently losing about 2-3 lbs a week. I started in a size 16, and as of a couple days ago I could fit back in to my size 12s. REALLY happy with my recovery and progress! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. I was told to wait 6 weeks before drinking. At the 6 week mark I went out to a bar with friends and had my first drink... And nothing bad happened. I go out pretty regularly and have a couple glasses of wine, I've never seen a weight gain (usually a loss, actually), I don't get sloppy drunk, I don't feel the urge to slip back in to my former lifestyle.. Life moves on lol. I'm definitely a party girl but going out once a month won't derail my success. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Shopping

I've purchased a few things along the way, not much cause I still had my "skinny clothes" from when I lost 70 lbs two years ago. I wear a lot of leggings lol. Walmart has stretchy skinny jeans for like $11 so I have a couple pairs of those too. I've tried to make the shirts work unless they're hanging off of me. When summer comes though I'm not going to have ANYTHING so I'm dreading it a bit. Sent from my iPhone using BariatricPal
  22. It took me about 2 weeks to tolerate Protein drinks, and even now at 11 weeks out I can't do the milky flavored ones. The first week my doctor said just to focus on my fluids and do my best. It does get easier! I buy unflavored protein and put it in my crystal light instead of regular shakes. Sent from my iPhone using BariatricPal
  23. My favorite puréed meal was refried Beans mixed with a little taco seasoning with melted cheese. Sooooo good! I looked up a lot of dip recipes on Pinterest and adjusted them to be lower in calories/fat. Sent from my iPhone using BariatricPal
  24. Wow you are doing great! Im 6 weeks out and down 26 lbs. I was at a stall for almost 2 weeks. Whats your normal eating pattern and excercise routine? Have you had any stalls?Thank you! I've had a couple stalls, one lasted about two weeks shortly after surgery. But for the most part I've consistently lost 2-3 lbs a week. I had one huge loss of 9 lbs the very first week after surgery. I'm not exercising I'm ashamed to admit. But I have Breakfast lunch and dinner with small Snacks in between. I'm under 30 carbs a day and my calories hover around 900-1000. Lots of meat and cheese! Sent from my iPhone using BariatricPal
