    My story

I am 5' 3" I go to the gym twice a week and do about 45 mins on treadmill running, jogging and then walking. Then I do arms one night and legs the next time. This keeps me at my current weight. I also do a mini 20-30 mins workout with my daycare kiddos M-F of 10 mins jogging in place and than 10-20 mins of yoga.
  3. I had my surgery on June 15, 2015, before surgery I weighed in at 265, I would tell myself it was all good until I had a grand child and I was raising him because my daughter was 17. I started not to be able to keep up with him and it was hard to get off the floor. That is when I decided it was time to do something. So I went to seminar and first doctors appt was in January of 2015, the six month waiting period was very fast and smooth, got a call after my classes were finished saying insurance approved my surgery and was scheduled for surgery less than two weeks later. Surgery went well, after surgery I found out I was allergic to morphine and got sick from the time I woke up from surgery until the next day. Then after that recovery went well. I lost more weight at my one year check up than my doctor thought I would loss, he said that I was in the overweight category and didn't need to see me except for blood work once a year and just to keep the weight off. Well the last few months has been crazy with my daughter signing over rights to us for our grandchild and all of the sudden the dad, after two and half years, came to court and wanted to see grandson. I say all this because I have been stressed and it is the holidays and I have not been watching what I have been eating and started only working out twice a week. My husband had the sleeve surgery in October, so I was taking care of him, talking to attorney about grandson and running my daycare and taking care of grandson. While my weight pretty much stayed between 160-165, this month while waiting for grandson's court date, I was not eating a lot. I have actually lost another 5 pounds and am still losing. I have hit my long term goal which is to be in the 150's. I am so excited and I now have a winter wardrobe to fit and look nice in!!! I am happier, healthier, and finally am not letting people walk all over me because I have some of my confidence back also!!! 2016 was not such a good year for our family but we are going to rock 2017. Hopefully this next year my hubby will reach his goal, we will be the best grandparents we can be to our little man and God will bless us with many adventures and memories with family!!!! I am also going horse back riding now that hubby is under the weight limit to go!!!! Here is a before and this month picture-I am still on my journey!!!
  4. I have been saying all the info is correct for the last 25 years and not been updating my weight. This time when I go to renew it, which a police office recently told me to do as my picture looks nothing like me after losing 103 pounds, I will not have to lie and I can actually change it to a smaller number!!! Funny how the little things can excite you and keep you going!!![emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

    will insurance cover plastic surgery

Following as I am having issues with the loose skin under my arms. Bi had my year check up with my WLS and complained to him so it would be documented for insurance, but he said "good luck" when I said I hope insurance will cover it since I am having issues. Does look so good.
  6. Mine was June 2015 and hubbies is going to be in September or October of this year.
  7. I was on vacation last week and on Friday I went to the water park and wore my swim suit and actually played and did the slides and everything and I didn't have to worry about weight limits and me getting tired walking around. My kids loved that mom and dad went with them(even though they are older) we spent the whole day there and I was not always trying to cover up or hid in the water. I actually felt comfortable in my swim suit and my own skin for once[emoji6]
  8. I bought my first swim suit in I don't know how long. My kids love going swimming so now I will be able to go!! I waited around in the fitting rooms until someone else came in to ask how I looked. After loosing 100 pounds when I try things on sometimes I see the old me and not the new me, so it is hard to tell, I really wish my mind would finally see the new me.
  9. Thanks everyone!!! I am liking finding clothes every where now:)

    Gallbladder questions!

I had mine removed at the six month mark. I had issues early on, but it wasn't bad until the 5 month mark then it just kept getting worst. I would talk with your dr so it doesn't get so bad. My surgery was fast because it was so bad:(

    Kansas City MO?

My highest was 265 Surgery 240 Today 165 I go to planet fitness Treadmill: Warm up 3 mins. (4.1) 10 mins @ 5 3-4 mins 4.1 10 mins @5 Cool down start at 4 and go down from there - I am normally on the treadmill for about 33 mins. I just started running about two weeks ago. When I first started it took me about 45 mins to walk a mile-then every week I got a little faster. Hope that helps you. Then I work out my legs or arms-I rotate them. Then when I am at home-I run a home daycare we jog in place 10 mins a day then we do some yoga. We take walks, and when they are playing in the back yard I walk around the yard. I have a fit bit HR and I walk about 10,000 steps a day-a little higher on days I work out. But I always make it a point to go 9,000 steps a day. I actually just bought my first swim suit today and am looking forward to swimming again. I know after you drop some weight you will be more flexible and stronger and can do more.

Any home daycare providers out there?

I run a home daycare and I had surgery Monday came home from hospital Wednesday and stayed away until Friday, then I sat in the chair(had help) with them and talked to them about my boo boos and explained to them I was going to be better Monday but my belly would hurt so the needed to be careful. Monday it was back to just me and I would just get on the floor to change diapers and I was fine. I had to also had two babies that I was feeding, so I just had a pillow between me and them. I also used the pillow to sit on when on the floor. You will do great and everyone of your parents will be thankful that you were there for them. I have the best parents that also talked to their kiddos about me having surgery on my belly, so it was easier for them to understand that they needed to be careful!!! Also I had a one year old grandson that didn't get it and I just lifted him with my legs into my lap and I was fine. Good luck and I wish you a speedy recover!!!
  15. My doctor, nut and exercise therapist spent tons of time explaining all this is me, so much so that I started to not listen anymore because they kept repeating the same important info each and every meeting. Plus I had a binder that had all the same info in it that I read the night it was given to me. So yes I was prepared and I didn't find this site until a few days before my surgery.
  16. I had a case worker through my insurance company and it was a third party and didn't work for my insurance company but for me!!! It was awesome having someone that was trained and could answer any questions I had. She would also talk to me about my diet and workouts and suggest other things. This was helpful when I couldn't get the doctor to answer my questions. Also I actually only had to talked to her 3-4 times over a 4 month period to get me through to the time of surgery, I am still talking with her to this day(one and half years later). Plus as an added bonus my insurance company mailed me a $300 gift card to Target where I spent it on new clothes to fit me once I got to the size I wanted to be!!!! I will also continue talking with her until I get to my newest goal, she is one of my biggest supporter and I can question her about anything and NEVER has it affected my insurance in any way!!!!!
  17. Thanks ladies!!! After work I am going to go shopping for a swim suit, yup I am. I want to finally go to the pool again. I think I am ready but know I will be uncomfortable for the first few hours I am there. But it is going to be worth it:) I have missed swimming!!
  18. I had my surgery one year ago today. I have had a roller coaster of ups and downs since then that have affected my journey. Durning my hospital stay I found out that I was allergic to morphine and got sick for the first two days after surgery. It was painful and when they found out in the middle of the night the first night they took me off and it took 24 hours to clear it all out of my system. Then I was just fine. I got home and felt fine and did great. Surgery on Monday stayed in hospital till Wednesday evening, came home and talked to all my kiddos as I run a home daycare, went to another room for the rest of the day to rest. The next morning I got up and played with the kiddos and by Monday of the next week I was running my daycare by myself again. I did great, made a few mistakes and got sick a few times by eating to fast or something I should not have. Two months later my teenaged daughter tried to over dose due to bullying at her highschool. She was rushed to the hospital barely alive. She was in the hospital for two weeks and it was a rough two weeks. So I was not following my eating plan as I should of been, as I couldn't. Then about November I started getting a pain in my side. It would hurt all the time while exercising, I would be running on the treadmill and have to hold my side. I told my bariatric dr in December when I went for my check up and he blew me off. A week later I couldn't handle the pain anymore and went to my family dr and he sent me for a cat scan the same day and they found a stone in my gallbladder the size of a manderain orange. They scheduled surgery for December 29. I had surgery and did great. I had to stop exercising for two weeks as I healed. Then I started back up and have not had any problems since. As all that was going on my oldest daughter and grandson moved out and my other daughter was remitted back into the mental health ward of the hospital. Then it was peaceful for a few months, finally and things were going good. My husband started talking about getting the surgery so he started his journey by going to the seminar. He went for his first check up and to meet the doctor. They did some test because of his family history and found out he had a heart attack the week before. So they sent him for more testing and such. They found out it was a minor one that didn't do any damage(Thank God)!!! Fast forward to today and it has been one year since I had surgery!!! I am feeling great and went from wearing a size 24, XXL to today wearing a size 10 and a med/large shirt. I have so much more energy and I am so much more mobile. I don't know why I didn't do this earlier. Here are some pictures of before and after. As you can see my grandson was my wake up call that I needed to do something. He just turned two and I am the only one that can keep up with him

  22. I had the same thing, but it would hurt so bad when I was on the treadmill, my sleeve dr wouldn't listen so I went to family dr and they ordered a ultrasound and found one huge stone and tons of little ones-I was 6 months out from sleeve surgery and had it removed.

How do I tell my surgeon he screwed up?

I am looking at it from both sides. The first is from me the patient, you should ONLY put on your plate what you are going to eat. This should help with mindless eating as you are talking to friends/relatives. I eat a few bites talk for a while then eat a few more. Then you need to make sure that you are getting in the required protein and water everyday. To do this you need to make sure your meal doesn't last longer than 30 mins so you are getting your water in. After 30 mins you should be done eating and wait 30 mins than drink water. If you keep drinking you will feel fuller longer as your stomach as something in it. I was also told the beef was to harsh on my stomach to eat before 6 months. Maybe your dr told you something different. From the dr's stand point, he is going to ask you if you started out with the recommendations of portion size. I started out eating a tablespoon for the first few days, then went to 2 for about week, and moved on till at 3 months out I was at about 1/4 to 1/2 cup and now at a year out I can eat about 3/4 cup and normally I get full just on the protein still. Then he is also going to ask about fluids, are you getting them in? Are you waiting 30 mins before and after to drink?? As this can wash your food threw before you even benifit from eating it. It sounds like you are eating protein first so that is not a problem. Then comes the next question: Are you working out?? From the research I have done with trying to figure out which surgery I was getting, I found out that I needed to make the right decision the first time. I found that with the sleeve your majority of the work needs to be done in the first year, after that it is harder to lose weight and requires a lot more exercise to lose after the first year. Also, in researching I found out that revision surgery is 50/50 successful, you have to really work for it. I would talk with your doctor and your NUT and find a plan that works for you. Each of us are very different and our bodies act and react differently to everything. Talk to your nut about what you can do to be proactive in the first year. Congrats on your accomplishments so far and keep us informed as to what is going on with you!!! I will be praying that you find a path that will lead you to your Goal!!!!
