Dang sleep
I'm shorting myself on sleep, too. Up at 3:45am-4:00am on work days, like today. Up by 4:30am on days off. I should sleep more. It is something that I was coached to do during the pre-op counseling sessions.....yet I fail at doing so.

Scar treatment
I just kept them clean and used both antibacterial soap and soap with aloe. I suppose they are visible if one looks really really carefully, however, everything has shrunk in the area where the scars are.

I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)
A few days shy of 11 months between these two pics. Feeling better. Thinking better. VSG was a hyooooge winning decision in my life. Why in the hell I waited so long to take action is a mystery to me. I've given up on divining the reasons why I waited.....just moving forward. Long way to go....but grateful for the relief I feel every single day. Back pain is way better.....crappy knees are still giving me hell for waiting so long.....but my ticker is thankful and no longer working double-time to pump blood where it needs to go. It's like my body has switched into cruise control and I feel better than I have in decades. I have nothing but encouragement for anyone considering this surgery. I've had zero complications with my VSG and my surgeon left me with simple and easily followed instructions for how to succeed with the weight loss and approach food forever. There is nothing that I cant enjoy and nothing that I want for. Went to enjoy a birthday celebration yesterday at my favorite spot....a Mexican restaurant that I LIVED at in my old life. I had chips 'n salsa.....and margaritas.......and even ordered a meal that was off the charts with flavor......brought the leftovers home for Breakfast, lol. I sure don't eat & drink that way very often.....but I can enjoy anything on occasion. By having 80+% of my stomach removed........I have finally found what it is to be "normal". Go figure.

How to break the habit of eating and drinking
Suggestion- if you eat hot/spicy and your mouth is on fire, save a little teaspoon worth of room to eat a dollop of sour cream. Milk products relieve the heat- Water as I'm sure you know, doesn't. My .22 cents worth Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I was just recently made aware of this. Last week a buddy at work calls me and says he has something for me. We hook up and he hands me a ziplock bag full of habaneros.....chocolate habaneros. They are a special strain that a friend of his grows. I show them to another hombre I work with and he gets all googly-eyed and antsy....wanting to try them. I hand them over....he pops one in his mouth and pulls out the stem and starts chewing....slowly. I'm sorta in awe. Dude finishes it off and says...."Not bad. The heat built for a minute then leveled off. Nowhere near the heat of the Carolina Reaper I had this morning......I had to have a glass of milk after that one". He went on to explain the relief that dairy products can offer.....and to NOT drink water in that situation as it just spreads the burn around. I handed the bag of chocolate habaneros over to him and shook his hand. I like hot....but I like it to add flavor. They can have their insanely hot stuff. Jalapeños and habaneros are my comfort zone.

How to break the habit of eating and drinking
It seems counterintuitive.......but it really is easy.....at least it normally is for me. Now.....I bend the rule bigtime on the front end....only stopping the sipping 10 mins before eating......but I always give it 30 mins after eating before resuming. The only time it has been an issue is if I eat something really spicy-hot. I really....really don't like the full feeling.....and as @@LipstickLady said.....I hate vomitting. The 30 min rule was something I had concerns about when I was pre-op....but it's a non-issue for me now.

But you, my friend, know how to use a grill!!! I should have been born in the Carolinas for how much I love BBQ! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Born and raised in Eastern North Carolina. "BBQ" was a term that we used to describe pulled & chopped pork that was hit with a vinegar based sauce and usually served with a finely diced sweet coleslaw. Moved to Georgia and found out there is more to BBQ than just the pulled pork. More to it than just the vinegar sauce. There have been some great additions to what I now know as BBQ.......ribs, brisket, sausage and more. I have some of my favorites on the grill today.......

3wks out tacos?
I prefer my nuts on chins. (I digressed yet again. Dub and I are going to be sent to the principal's office). Good one. I still prefer nuts in the taco. ( music in background...theme to "Cops"... "Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?"$ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App All up in that taco. Call me crazy.....but don't support groups provide support ? I know it's a wacky concept. Support is exactly what was given. Tacos are a bad, bad, muey malo idea at 3 weeks. This opinion was conveyed. To tell them otherwise would be.....an enabling group. I'm not better.....nor is anyone here. Some of us.....including the young lady that replied about tacos being a bad idea.....are far, far from ignorant. You see......we've been there and done that....and moved on past it. We even have nice new form fitting t-shirts to prove it. Now....you be careful not to choke on your bananas and other stuff and kindly avoid the people you think are assholes. It has been my experience that the folks who've been down this bariatric road a piece.....have traveled some of the dangerous road.....and hang around and offer advice.....are good folks. You'll seldom find assholes amongst them. They are resources. The assholes show up from elsewhere..... G'day.
