  1. @scoutmom... hi we are very similar. I had the sleeve in 2015. I had also gained back 40lbs because I had such bad GERD which turned to Barrett’s Esophagus and all I wanted to eat was comforting carbs. So I just had revision surgery 8 weeks ago to the bypass. I have lost 29lbs so far. The eating seems easier than after the sleeve, I’m progressing really well, even eating chicken. I don’t have that hard stop that I had with the sleeve so I weigh and measure everything. I did get thrush after surgery which was something I was told was common after that surgery, so be aware of that. I can drink very well, unless I gulp too fast or too much. You’re going to do great and I’m sure you may be nervous but all will go well. I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery and a quick recovery. Good luck!!

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

@INEEDABUDDY I’m exercising using Leslie Sansone DVD’s. They’re fun to do. I figure whatever I can do for myself beforehand would benefit me. I’m getting revision from sleeve to RNY July 17th.
  3. So happy for you! It must feel incredibly relieving to be back home! Welcome to your losers bench!!

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

IWantTheDream.. I did not have Barrett’s before the sleeve. I had GERD and it went away for about the first 3 years after surgery. Then it slowly came back and turned into Barrett’s even while on Omeprazole everyday the whole time. It got so bad that I was sleeping in a recliner. My Dr added Carafate before bed at night and that helps. But my goal is to stop the Barrett’s from progressing into cancer now. If you have reflux or GERD do your research and talk to your doctor. And yes, we live very close to one another! I switched doctors for this surgery. I used to use one in East Brunswick and now I am using Dr Sadek , he is the chief of Bariatric surgery at Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick. I know Dr Borao is spoken highly of so you’re in good hands! 🤗
  6. Hi everyone. I’m scheduled for a revision from the sleeve to RNY on July 17th due to Barrett’s Esophagus. I’m hoping to learn some things from your experiences and share some of mine also. To all those who just recently had surgery, I hope you are all doing well and have a great recovery! Im looking forward to the support that maybe we can all give to one another :)

    Overnight

My husband was allowed to sleep in my room. He had a recliner.
  10. I have a dull pain everyday in my upper stomach where the hernia was. I feel like nothing helps it. I see my dr tomorrow. Ty for asking! Do you have the same dull pain? I'm on omeprezole but I'm not sure it's helping.
  11. Hope you are doing well. I was sleeved the 27th also in New Jersey. I had a bit of a rough time because I also had a hiatal hernia repair but as I start a new week things are getting easier. Take time to rest, sip, walk and think about your outcome to be! Welcome to the losers bench!!!

  14. Tomorrow 27 th is the day I will begin my new healthier life. I've had butterflies all day. Pretty nervous but looking forward to moving forward! Good luck to all of us!!!
  15. Had preadmission testing today and met with Nut and nurse. Made it all so surreal. My preop diet is 2 shakes and a sensible dinner being mindful to focus on protein and veg for that meal. Day before surgery will be just all clear liquids. Not so bad.
  16. July 27th is sneaking up quickly. 2 weeks from today I will be happy to be able to say "I'm 1 day sleeved"! Can't wait!!!

    July Sleever

I just met someone who was sleeved this past March. She said she feels really good and it was the best decision she had ever made. She said she has no regrets. That was nice to hear .... And I also wanted to share that on Amazon I bought an abdominal binder to wear for support when I get up and when I walk around. I'm hoping my stomach won't be too sore to wear it because I think the extra support will help. If not carrying a pillow pressed against your stomach helps too!
  18. Hi. I'm scheduled for July 27th. Can't wait to sit on the losers bench!!
  19. Hi, I recently turned 50. Had the lapband for 4 years which has been removed because of problems with it. Needless to say I have gained back all my weight and then some, making me the heaviest I've ever been in my life. I'm 5'4 1/2 and my CW is 235ish. My sleeve surgery date is July 27th in NJ. Can't wait to be healthy!!!!

    July Sleever

Omg. I've been having food funerals every day. I am even going on a cruise before my surgery for my son's graduation. I had the lapband removed last May and this will be the first cruise in 5 years without restriction or vomitting. Scared I'm gonna let too loose but at least I know there's help for me when I get home! Can't wait to not want so much food again. This is exciting ! Good luck to us all!!
