  1. Around 3 months it seemed like most of my swelling was down and I could eat more and I also finally felt 100% and I was more active. I randomly have days where I am hungry all day. They pass. I upped my Protein from 75 to 90 grams and that helped a lot. I also added denser meats.
  2. My nutritionist and Dr want you to get Protein from real sources. My issue is I am often not hungry especially when engrossed in a work project. I work from home for myself so I can work endlessly there is nothing to stop. I use and have used Protein shakes and bars long before surgery and I continue to use them so I don't skip meals. I just don't feel like eating a lot. It is better to have a protein shakes than to skip meals until I am suddenly starving. It is even easier to skip meals now since I have no physical hunger. If you want to use protein powder you can. Plenty of people who haven't had WLS use them. If you are trying to get your weight down. Then a shake or 2 a day as a replacement for meals can help you get your weight down.
  3. I wouldn't take dating advice from a man that cheated on his last wife with his current wife. I read the book out of curiosity and it might work if you are over 50 and don't use the Internet or date men that use the Internet but other than that it is really outdated. The only thing worth taking from the book is that women need to know their value, but you can learn that anywhere and hopefully have learned it by high school.
  4. I don't have gel nails but I wear gel polish. I took it off the night before surgery. I got out of the hospital the next day, then the following day the first thing I did was go get my nails done. And they wouldn't even let me wear clear polish
  5. I really hate eggs after surgery, it is a real roll of the dice if they are okay or if they will make me sick. I don't eat them often. I don't like yogurt, people seem crazy for it and it is all people seem to talk about on weight loss forums and it is just nasty to me and the nutritional value seems worthless, but it easy to eat and has Protein so I see why people like it. When I get tired of fish, I eat deli ham. I like fish because I can eat more of it and easily meet protein goals. Now that I am past 6 months, chicken and beef are much easier to eat than they were at 2-3 months. Now that I am further out I am eating a lot of filet mignon and lamb. Going to add bison in soon. A lot meats that were previously expensive become suddenly affordable when you never eat more than 3-4 oz at a time.
  6. They rock. I have been eating them for years. Get some Walden farms syrup, it tastes delicious. They are thin and crepe like. If you want them a litlle thicker add a tablespoon of coconut flour.
  7. Never heard of them. Have you tried cream cheese pancakes? http://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/2012/01/cream-cheese-pancakes.html
  8. I'm not married but... It seems like your husband thinks thin women can't be trusted. He tginks you are going to lose weight and go crazy like his ex. The fact you said you didn't feel pretty before but now you do, is a huge red flag. Even if he won't go to counseling, you should go alone. You should always feel pretty your a woman, someone is always going to buy what you are selling, that is the great thing about being a woman. The fact you feel pretty now, he isn't suporting that is a huge issue that isn't just his. When he sees that you can still be trsted at a smaller weight he will probably get over is feelings.
  9. I like being an 11 as long as I don't need a narrow. I can find shoee easy at Nordstrom and Saks. Last night however, I was trying on shoes at Norstrom and in some brands i can wear a 10.5. I feel it is impossible for me the smaller than a 10 because that is the size I wore at 140 lbs. I want to be a 10 or an 11 because a 10.5 might as well be a 13, nothing but drama. My feet used to swell a lot but now i am on a pill that has stopped that, so it isn't all weight loss some is Fluid reduction. I used to get 12W to accomodate rhe swelling but i don't think I will ever need a wide again.
  10. 6 months was a big turning point. I guess what they say about being totally healed is true. I can eat more, not more than I should be more, easier and more comfortably. I can eat around 4oz of beef and it doesn't make me feel like a baby elephant is on my chest anymore. Definitely have to keep weighing and measuring so I don't over do it at this point.
  11. They are educational in everything wrong to do with plastic surgery. They can also make you feel better. People say it you lose weight "slowly" and do it the "right way" with diet, exercise and hard work. you don't end up with loose skin. Well almost all these people did it the long and hard way, most taking 3-5 year to lose the weight and they have as much if not more loose skin than WLS patients. The wonder twins as someone called them are terrible, they would be sued, put people are getting free surgery so they are going to Dr Now to get Fixed. Like that is how bad they are. They are plastic surgeons and they botch it so bad that people go to Dr Now to be repaired. Mind blown? Yeah so are the rest of us. It is a train wreck of epic proportions, add it to the DVR.
  12. Some bariatric surgeons do remove aprons but just for mobility reasons. He is doing way more than a bariatric surgeon should be doing. At first I thought someone else was doing the surgeries with him but that doesn't seem to be the case.
  13. The when can I have pizza question which I find annoying mainly because I have always thought pizza was really overrated, is more about head hunger and second thoughts post surgery than I think lack of education. People are miserable and want to know if there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I wish more people know how to cook, really cook from scratch with real food. The is the first big problem with weight I'm America. Then people have surgery can't cook do you research recipes before surgery and feel like they can't have anything delicious. If you can cook, you can make a low carb version of basically anything. As someone else said, things that are triggers for me, I can't have 2 bites. My only thing is French fries. I can't have 2 fries. I want a whole basket if I just have 2, so I can have zero. Everything else I can stop on but not fries. Rutabaga fries however don't cause this issue, they taste good but not too good. I learned and I adjusted.
  14. I used to think my goal of losing 180 to 200 lbs was impossible. Now I am down over 100 lbs in less than 7 months it seems like that goal is obtainable. Not only is it obtainable, but I have been able to get here without feeling like I am starving and without trying to kill myself in the gym. I am very hopeful for the future. Also, I feel mostly normal. I can drink Water pretty fast now which makes it must easier to meet my water goals each day.
  15. Has the OP ever even came back? We have the random trolls that come here, post a buncha garbage and never show back up to respond to people or defend their points. When I first saw the title of this thread I thought it was actually about Mediterranean style eating, but instead it is about being vegetarian. Vegetarians don't offend me, I like Vegan food, and I understand the thought behind it. Growing up with a native american background I have a different attitude about eating animal flesh. I have no issues with OPs point of view. Just the post and dash and the no supporting numbers whatsoever. There are plenty of vegans and vegetarians who post here without sounding like they are talking down to the plebs.
  16. Is all mathematical logic out the window for BMI calculations though? 39.99 should be rounded up to 40. I had a friend from college that wore ankle weights and a ton of heavy clothes to qualify for gastric bypass in like 2003. She ended up on a feeding tube and almost dying after surgery.
  17. The reason different calculators online vary is because some start metric and convert, which creates a rounding error.
  18. While you are healing don't expect to lose a ton of weight. Most people don't lose a lot in the beginning. The people that do just shout about it the loudest. 10lbs at your start weight is pretty normal.
  19. I would stop drinking at least 30 minutes before bed. If you are having acid issues laying down with a stomach full of fluid can cause you some issues.
  20. Well you can keep your band for years. The balloon only lasts a short time. I don't think you are supposed to have it longer than 6 months. As soon as it comes out people are going to gain.
  21. Fiber powder made all my constipation issues worse when I was early out. The only real way to get thing moving is to really increase your Water. Also there is no shame in a stool softener. 1200 calories is a lot of calories to just get 80 grams of Protein. I can easily get 90 grams of protein for less than 800 calories, plus my carbs and fat. If you aren't losing as fast as you want, try to your protein to carbs be 3 to 1.
  22. I feel like in a couple years there is going to be a huge blowback on the ballon. It is such an easy out patient procedure. It is being used as a complete money grab in the US. I think it would be perfect for a lot of the patients on 600lb life, but I doubt Dr Now will want them to have to crutch to lose for surgery since he wants them to prove they are ready for surgery. Watching fat doctor and comparing it to 600lb pound life is like an example of what is wrong with the tough love approach. They don't do tough love on Fat Doctor and I feel they have better responses and outcomes. The patients seems happier and less demoralized. I really don't like Dr Now.
  23. I forgot, one thing I found interesting about fat doctor is it is the first I had seen and heard of the ballon. They just use the ballon to help people get ready for other perm surgeries. They don't use it as a weight loss solution like it is being sold in the US.
  24. Hulu has the whole series. They do a lot of sleeves near the end, if I remember correctly. Yeah they are never going to put 5 on youtube.
