How long were you off work?
The plus side is I can take as much time off work as I need, but for financial reasons I only want to take 2 weeks. My issue will be that my job does not allow light duty or restrictions, but my surgeon made it clear he doesn't want me to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk for 6 weeks. I'll have to find some way to work this out.

Support Groups!
I have told the people closest to me and my manager because I had to request time off. I have decided not to tell anyone else until after surgery. This is mostly because I don't want to hear anyone try and talk me out of it like my manager at work does. And I'm so tired of hearing "you don't need it. Don't do it". After surgery I believe I'll be very open to talking about it. I agree with what @@1SlimmerMe said about other people's expectations.

How long were you off work?
This is good! I seen a guy on YouTube who said he was off for 7 weeks. I got nervous for a minute, but not so much anymore.

How long were you off work?
I'm pre op and just wondering how long some of you were off of work. I know its going to vary, but I read the average recovery time is 2 weeks. 2 weeks is about the longest I can take off work so I'm hoping that's all I need. My job is pretty sedentary so I should be fine.

African American Hair (and loss)
I read the shedding after this surgery is inevitable due to the change happening in our bodies and it's nothing we can take or do to change that. How much we lose will vary person to person. It said taking vitamins like biotin will not stop the hair from shedding, but will help it grow back once the shedding has stopped. I'm pre op so I haven't started my shedding stage, but when I do I just plan to keep it clean and moisturized. I'll wear my weaves and get over it lol.

I'm so glad to hear that. I'll be patient as long as I know I'll eventually be able to ride again.

Is there a bariatric cookbook or recipe forum?
I found a few weight loss surgery cookbooks on Amazon.

Adrenaline Junkies
I'm a huge rollercoaster fan. Im pre op and was curious how my surgery would effect my love for rollercoasters and other intense activities. How long did you wait before riding rollercoaster again? Did your new stomach like the ride?

My new beginning
Have they not sent your application in yet? If not, you may want to contact your surgeons office and find out what the hold up is.

My new beginning
I haven't had an endoscopy performed. My application was sent in right after my psych evaluation. It would have been sent in right after my final month on the supervised diet if I had done my evaluation sooner. I go to the doctors next week for my pre op testing so maybe they'll do a endoscopy then.

It's all i think about
Lol I did. When I first decided to get the surgery I literally spent hours reading stuff and watching YouTube videos. This lasted a couple of days. I eased up through the months of my supervised diet, but now that I'm so close to actually having the surgery (4 weeks to go), I've started back obsessing lol. I'm just so excited I can't help it lol.

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
I was out to eat with my family and overheard my father tell my mother I was fat. That really hurt my feelings.

Impatiently waiting...June sleevers?
My surgery date is 6/22 . I finished the 6 month diet in March, got approved by insurance in April and have to wait until June 22 for my surgery. It's been the longest wait ever.
