Hi I was diagnosed with this, band is completely useless as it can't be filled due to pain and reflux. Anybody had this? Thanks

Endoscopy revealed hiatus hernia around the band and band cant be filled because hernia causing really bad acid reflux at night. Has anyone solved this problem? Empty band causing weight gain...

Hi Lizzie just reading your post. I went to Belgium from UK to have a comsultation with dr Dillemans regarding conversion to bypass where he told me the same that "band to sleeve conversions are useleless". Just wondering if you went ahad or not and how you are getting on.

Hello I started going to a new doc and he wants to fill up the band in one go. I thought band had to be filled up gradually. Who went from empty to half full in one adjustment? Thanks

The size of the sleeve is the same for everyone. Decided by the size of the boogie the instrument that your surgeon use.

Ok one day this band has to come out. If the band removal and revision is done in 2 stages then the removal surgery will inurr adhesions too. Does it matter if now at bmi 33 or at bmi 36 or 37? Scar tissue is formed all the time, the longer i wait the more scarring will be done. Acid reflux can be avoided by conversion to rny.

I was banded with bmi 35 and gained most back. Just wondering if anyone had surgery with low bmi. Some doctors refuse to do ops under bmi 35. But it would mean gaining it all back. Thank you

I totally agree.... I moved the port of the band during tummy tuck. It doesnt protude anymore.

Unfortunately my oesophagus stretched too far as well (4x normal size). Did yours ever recover? 4 months since it has been emptied. Getting barium x ray next week but still throwing up????

I had my x ray in June when it was emptied. Going for another x ray in 2 weeks time..... I will then see the surgeo n in mid Nov. In 4 months i gained 6 pounds too so thats the bright side. The not so bright side is that oesophagus dilation can come back anytime, so i dont know if it ever can be refilled to the same level or any level in fact?

My arms are fat too! Talked to a plastic surgeon and they can be improved with liposuction. Gonna get it done in February

I heard the same that chance of a leak is very high (3-4%) if it is done in 1 surgery. Plus the leak is much more dangerous with sleeve than bypass.

I had dilated oesophagus in June and they emptied band in July. About 4mls was taken out. Band has to be empty until December. Just wondering... doctor said that no more than 3ml at maximum can be added back as the problem might come back. Is it true do you think? Will it be enough?

Thank you for your answers. Band is empty now until late November than it can be slowly filled up.... I am hoping not to gain too much in the next 4 months

Hi a few weeks ago I mentioned reflux problems. After barium x ray they found that my oesophagus was 4x its original width. I went to see a doc and it has to be empty for 3 months then slowly can be adjusted. Does the very dilated oesophagus ever recover????? Thank you

Thats the 1 million $ question. Wish I knew the answer. Havent had the defill yet but meds dont work, i dont think.

I think the problem is that I am only loosing weight if I have this acid reflux going on at night AND during the day I dont have problems.....

To be fair the same happened to me in February. Got 0.3 removed. Gained 10lbs???? Thats why i am reluctant this time around. Best wishes

Thank you for your answers. I am on 40g of Omeprazole (in uk). That does completely nothing either. I think i will get some 0.5ml removed next week. Have 5.5ml in 10ml band atm.

4 and 1/2 years banded i have problems with acid coming through my nose at nights. If i loosen the band then i gain weight. Anti acid meds have limited success. Anyone else been here before? Gained 20 pounds in the last year. Thank you
