  1. I heard in two weeks. The dr office told me the insurance has up to 30 days to make a decision but they usually hear sooner than that.
  2. yes, too many carbs I think. Those snack foods are a slippery slope.
  3. Good luck tomorrow. I know what you mean about being thirsty. I was told to be at the hospital at 10:00. They did not take me back to surgery until around 1:30. I was glad they did let me have some ice chips that evening but the nausea was so bad that I didn't even want to eat them. I hope things go smooth keep us posted. Chap stick or some sort of lip balm is a good idea.
  4. Do the liquid diet that you will be on after the surgery. That will get those three pounds off quick. It may make you really tired but it takes off the weight. Good luck.
  5. My surgeon sent me home on nexium. He told me I have to take it every day for the first two months. Its a proton pump inhibitor which makes your body produce less stomach acids.
  6. google Dr Matthew Weiner he has a video that tells you the progression of how much food you will be able to eat over a period of a year. Please follow your food plan so you staple line has time to heal properly and you don't hurt yourself. I am not sure how much teaching the dr did with you but make sure you follow the Vitamin requirements or you can end up with medical issues.
  7. Maybe with the comorbidities you will get approved. I have Cigna also. I had a lap band that had slipped and wanted to convert to a sleeve. I did the 4 month diet that they required. When it was summited to insurance they approved the band removal but denied to sleeve procedure. My doctor called the doctor at cigna and did a peer to peer interview with them and got it approved. So it may have a lot to do with the way your doctor presents it to them. I wish you the best of luck and keep us posted.
  8. I am glad you are seeking help. I worry about Paxil is know to cause weight gain. There are lots of antidepressants on the market that don't have that side effect. Speak with your doctor concerning that if you notice you are not able to lose weight or gain.
  9. I had my surgery yesterday and have had very little pain. It's mostly sore. Some times I have pain at the site where they took my port out. The best thing for you is to walk as much as you can. Wishing you all the best.
  10. The nausea is horrible and the zofran is not doing it for me. The pain is more like cramping and spasm. I hope everyone else that had surgery today is doing well.
  11. Caffeine withdrawl is real ya'll.
  12. Checked in and waiting to be called back to the o.r.
  13. My surgeon said I will need to be on it for the first two months after surgery.
  14. I bought the syntrax nectar fuzzy navel this evening. It's a clear fruit drink mixed with water. I think it's pretty good. Also the premier already made shakes are pretty good.
  15. I am so sorry to hear that you have such insensitive coworkers. But you have made the right decision to come here. Every one is very supportive and always want to know how everyone is doing. It is a journey and we will all be here for you.
  16. Oh thank goodness I was not required to do a bowel prep.
  17. The closest I know is Orlando. Dr. Jawad.
  18. Clear liquids today. Surgery tomorrow. I didn't think this day would ever get here. Not really sure how I feel. I know I am just ready to get this over with and start my next chapter. Ugh! Why does insurance make us wait so long?
  19. Thanks Hun!! I've also worked in hospitals for ten year as I nurse I think I know to much and it makes me freak out!!! I should know it will all be ok but the what ifs get to me! I also get up with a headache everyday. I find it's a lil better with a cup of green tea but I'm soooooo ready to be headache free. They suck! Soda withdrawals are tough lol but worth it I know! Good luck to you as well. Feel free to message me after the 8th I'll update you on the process! Or follow me on here I plan to post all about it! What helped me was watching a video on you tube of the surgery. I think knowing exactly what they do made me feel better. Makes me kind of know what to expect. It's funny how we nurses think.
  20. I was told to not drink 30 minutes before I eat and to wait 30 minutes after I eat to drink again.
  21. I say you do what you need to do for you. Some time spouses are afraid of how things will be when we lose weight. It's a security thing. Once he sees the changes for the better in you he will come around. Some times it's also a fear that they may lose you during the surgery. This will be my second surgery. I had lap band in 2004. Hubby was supportive. When we went last week for my pre op appointment I was shocked when he asked the nurse how many patients this surgeon had lost. I guess that was in the back of his mind and he needed the comfort of knowing. Thank heavens she told him none.
  22. I know the feeling. My surgery is 28 th. I have worked in hospitals for 25 years. You would think I would not be scared. My other big concern is caffeine withdrawal headache. I have cut way back and I get up with a headache every day. I gave up the diet Pepsi two weeks ago. Now I have one glass of tea every day. I wish you and your mom the best of luck. You are going to be fine.
