When did you start working out again?
When did you start working out again after being sleeved? I'm 3 weeks post-op. My surgeon said no exertion until 6 weeks out, but I've heard of some people on here going back to the gym at 3 weeks or so. How much walking were you able to get in before going back to workouts? I'm 23 and at a fairly new job that's over an hour commute from my house (and gym). The 10k steps we're supposed to get a day seem impossible to me right now, time-wise and just weight-wise. Anybody think they did well with workout progression after surgery - if so, how? I.e. you went from almost sedentary to someone who works out regularly?

Unflavored protein powder recommendation
Does anybody use unflavored protein powers from stores (well, ones that ca be bought in store)? I'd love some recommendations for ones that are easy to put in hot or cold foods. I'm nervous to order a huge bucket of it before I actually try it. Not really sure I want to go through the hassle of trying samples from tons of places either, so I'm still debating on diving in and buying a large quanity of one and sucking it up if I don't like it or spending some time ordering/finding samples. The problem is most of the sites seem to have flavored samples, not unflavored. I tried going to GNC for sample-size ones and they only had flavored.

Eating at 3 weeks post op
I think I need to get rid of my scale. I have stepped on it every morning since coming home from the hospital and I'm driving myself crazy Ugh, I'm doing the same thing! Sometimes even weighing myself in the morning and before bed...I need to stop! I gained 0.4 pounds from yesterday and am so upset with myself! I try to keep reminding myself that the sleeve is letting me do better than I ever have before.

Did they really take half my tummy?
I'm struggling on the Fluid intake. I'm two and a half weeks post-op. I have a water bottle in front of me that's 3/4 full because I just can't get it all down. =(

Did anyone loose weight on their pre-op diet
Hope it went well!!

May 26th Sleevers - 2 week check-in!
Did you go back to work already? I miss my afternoon naps and 9 hours of sleep after surgery! Now I'm back to about 6 hours a night, no naps, and I'm definitely tired! Minced food sounds better than pureed!

May 26th Sleevers - 2 week check-in!
Yeah I turned 23 ten days before my surgery. Nice to meet someone else my age!! Are the isoprotein ones the fruity drinks? I might have to try them...I'm getting sick of Premier Protein chocolate shakes! I'm exhausted too. My NUT didn't give me a specific calorie range, but I've been getting, on average, 400 to 550 calories a day. How about everyone else?

May 26th Sleevers - 2 week check-in!
My surgeon said it was OK to keep going with Protein Shakes and liquid diet items if you like them! He said he's seen people keep doing that up until the solid food phase before.... My NUT said the pureed phase was to help with tolerance so it's good to try new things and see how you do. I think if you like something not-pureed, then you might like it pureed too! I like cauliflower and find I love it pureed too. I'm sure you'll find something you like soon. =)

May 26th Sleevers - 2 week check-in!
Totally with you both on the protein! I'm allowed scrambled eggs on pureed and I've been able to almost eat one egg + one egg white. I think I'll move to just egg whites to reduce calories though! It's a decent amount of protein, but I definitely need more!!

May 26th Sleevers - 2 week check-in!
My May 26th (and nearby dates) Sleevefriends, how are you doing?? I had my 2 week follow-up appointment yesterday, got my sutures out (yay), and moved on to the pureed diet! I move to soft foods on 6/23, but I'm already excited to try new, pureed things. It's fueling my culinary-creativity. I'm about to be under 300 lb. again, which I haven't been since my senior year of high school! (About 4-5 years ago!) So what are you loving and what are you struggling with? Here's mine! I'm loving: Not feeling hungry Low-carb Walking easier/with less pain Parking further away in parking lots Having TONS of leftovers I'm struggling with: Finding sources of Protein Drinking enough water! Pooping (just being honest here!) Low-carb (I love it because it's effective but I do miss bread!) Scheduling my meals (I find myself forgetting now) Paying attention to portions (My eyes are bigger than my stomach - thankfully - now)

Eggplant puree?
I was craving an Italian fix (my family just had eggplant parmesan the other night) so I wasn't sure if baba ghanoush would do the trick! I feel a little gassy already so we'll see if my stomach settles.
-
Eggplant puree?
Well, I did it! Haha I made an eggplant mush with garlic and some spices and par cooked it. Then I layered it in a ramekin with tomato sauce at the bottom and a layer of ricotta above it (with egg mixed in both layers to make it casserole-y). Turned out pretty delicious! It ended up looking like shepherd's pie! I'm calling it eggplant shepherds'a pie.

Eggplant puree?
Did anybody eat eggplant during the puree phase? I start pureed today and didn't find any search results for eggplant puree (such a weird thing to search for!). It just sounds really good to me - I've been craving eggplant, so I'm curious if anybody tried to do a faux eggplant-parm italian-type puree thing? I was thinking of roasting the eggplant and pureeing it? Maybe searching with ricotta and tomato sauce? Any thoughts?

My Black Bean Soup Story
Haha that's so smart! Next time I'm going to BJs, I'll wait till I'm ready to have a meal of their samples!

May Sleevers...where are you?
@@bvenegas I feel the same way. Haven't felt hungry since surgery and I'm a week and a half post-op. Hope I didn't just jinx that!

Any May 26th Sleevers out there?
Same experience for me! It takes me over an hour to drink a premier protein shake and sometimes I have to put it back in the fridge and finish it later. I've been using a straw for everything! I think I'm off full liquids on Tuesday!

My Black Bean Soup Story
I waited about an hour and had two more little spoonfuls! It was delicious. I have little portion baggies from Wal-Mart that someone from support group showed me, so I've been freezing all my leftover soup in. Even though I knew it was going to be this small beforehand, I'm still in shock how quickly I get full! I'm going to have to carefully plan out when I taste the food I'm cooking from now on so I can actually eat at the end!

For any new sleevers on here
Yeah, my surgeon didn't allow it either. I'm still in full liquids and asked my NUT a very similar question. She said no fruit, not even no-added-sugar apple sauce. Ask your surgeon or NUT.

My Black Bean Soup Story
So it's been a little over a week since I was sleeved and well over two weeks since I started my full liquids diet. I started getting sick of Greek yogurts, popsicles, chocolate Protein shakes, and tomato Soup. All so sweet! So today I decided to make black bean soup! It's easy to puree, will provide protein, and will satisfy my savory craving. So I made the soup, and like any good home cook, I took a few (liquid) tastes throughout the process to check seasoning. Finally, the soup was finished. I took one last taste and the seasoning was spot on! I stared at the pureed result in my Ninja blender and realized... I was full! I still can't stop laughing at the ridiculousness of being full from making my soup without even pouring myself some! Guess this is my future - lots and lots of leftovers!

The Journey as of Week 1 Post-op
Hi! I was sleeved on 5 /26 too. I started at 340, had the surgery 320, and I'm below 310 now. I definitely notice a difference already in walking around - It's been a lot easier for me! I have trouble stretching my meals to thirty minutes as well (except when it's a Protein shake - takes me an hour to get one down!), but I'm not going to worry about that until I'm on solid food. It's nice to find someone on here who's struggled with anxiety and depression too and has seen a therapist. I've had one for ten years or so (sometimes on and off), and she's been the biggest source of support for me so far. The last year or so has been really rough with my depression, and having the sleeve to look far to and work toward really saved me. I know my therapist is going to be a huge help in the upcoming year. By the way, I think you look great and I can definitely see the difference! Keep up the good work. =)

Help what can I eat?
I had surgery on May 26th as well. I'm allowed full liquids, so I've been doing protein drinks, soup (mostly tomato), sugar free popsicles, and Greek yogurt.

Surgery day
Hope everything is going great! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

May Sleevers...where are you?
Good luck! Hope it all goes well!

At what age would you have Weight Loss Surgery (WLS) if you had a do-over?
Well, I'm only 23 and I had the vsg a week ago. I've had weight issues my whole life and I've been considering wls since I was 16 or so. I'm glad I did it now, rather than later, because I want the chance to fix my problems now and live a long, healthy, and most importantly - happy life. The sleeve gave me a future to look forward to.

May Sleevers...where are you?
Jealous of your soft foods! Hoping it goes well for you! I hear refried beans with ff cheese are a favorite. Let us know how it goes.
