  1. @@Ruby Woo I have my GSV with Dr. Casillas on October 7th! Dr. Casillas is very confident and I feel I will be successful with the surgery. Good luck!
  2. I hope to be 200 on my surgery date. I am at 203 now. Want to lose about 75 lbs. after being sleeved.
  3. @stacyg1 Hi, my daughter checked her list of PPO Anthem doctors and neither one is showing in-network. So I don't think she can use them because it will be a higher cost out of network. Thanks for the info. Your results look great.
  4. Had my surgery consult yesterday with Dr. Casillas. I think I have decided to do the GSV. Just waiting for a surgery date now at West LA. He was very confident and easy to talk to, discuss options, etc. He said I could go either way RNY or GSV. I could still change my mind but I have no existing conditions that would be benefitted from RNY like diabetes or GERD.
  5. My daughter moved off Kaiser and now has Anthem in the LA area of California. Any suggestions for a PCP who takes Anthem and will refer to a plan Bariatric Surgeon? Thanks!
  6. When I applied, Insure told me Kaiser does not participate.
  7. I don't know if I am going to go with RNY or GSV. The more research I do, I think GSV is probably a better option for me. I was referred to a Dr. Casillas at West LA and have an appointment with him next week.
  8. I received lively, happy go lucky phone call (at 7:30AM) from Ginger at Kaiser this morning letting me know they approved me for a referral to the surgeon in WLA or South Bay. I need to continue losing towards my 10% and I need some questions to ask the surgeon. Any suggestions? They also asked me if I am considering RNY or GSV and I said RNY.
  9. My daughter has Anthem Blue Cross through her employer here in California. She is looking for a bariatric, obesity supportive primary care physician in the LA/Glendale/Pasadena area so that she can start the journey towards weight loss surgery. Can anyone give me names of some LA area primary care physicians that support a bariatric surgery option as a way to lose weight? Thanks.
  10. I guess it's because I don't have to check in any more, but I am eating more. I feel like I am sabotaging myself. Yesterday fried chicken was brought in the house and today, sausage and potatoes. I just wanna eat.
  11. @@Soexcited Hello, I am in Los Angeles.
  12. Well I graduated! Officially lost 17 lbs. Yay. Now I will wait for my referral to see the surgeon if all goes right.
  13. OK, I will see how it goes tomorrow. Do you mean that I should bring shoes tomorrow to my last class or to the first meeting with the surgeon? I will let them know I am interested in the South Bay location to maybe get scheduled sooner. It looks like Dr. Zane has a good reputation, so I will see if I can request him. Thanks.
  14. I am in the Hollywood area and have Kaiser. I pre-surgery and hoping for surgery in October/November.
  15. Tomorrow is my last class of 12 in the Kaiser Options Hollywood class. I have to say 3 months has gone very quickly! I am down about 15 lbs. I am thinking of continuing with the Healthy Balance class afterwards because I am not sure when I will be scheduled for surgery. I like going weekly to weigh in and being accountable. I think I might fall out of line if I don't have this regular check-in. The Healthy Balance is $50 fee plus $10 a week though. Has anyone done this before surgery?
  16. @@surlygal Thanks for the info. That seems to be less than the 3 months of classes. Did you lose the 10% they ask you to lose? I would love to be in a secret FB group, do you know of one. I am reluctant to get on a public one since I don't want people (family and co-workers) to know what I am doing. @@Soexcited The time goes fast. My classes are only 3 months vs. 6 months, but I liked having to be accountable for each week and have found that the food diary, weigh-in's, exercise tracking, etc., has helped me see what I am doing wrong. Good uck!
  17. That was pretty fast @@surlygal Who was your surgeon? West LA or South Bay?
  18. I just tried the 0 carb vanilla Isopure with unsweetened vanilla almond milk and it was not bad. I was expecting the worst!
  19. I will probably go with the SLEEVE if the doctor agrees.
  20. @@Pejela I am not scheduled yet. I think I have to finish the classes (Sept 1) and then you get scheduled? I am trying to lose the 10% right now, as well as incorporate exercise, better choices and portion control.
  21. @@Pejela I know San Diego is 6 months, but Los Angeles Kaiser offices are 3 months. I am starting week 8 and it is going very fast. I agree that the classes are an inconvenience, but they have been a wealth of information and accountability.
  22. @@wheezysmom Thank you for the info. I wish you much success in the rest of your journey.
  23. @@wheezysmom Thank you for the quick response. Wow that is really fast! My last class is September 1st. I have only lost about 1/3 of what I need to lose as far as the 10% requirement. Did you lose your 10% by your last class?
  24. @@wheezysmom How long from the last class, to the consult to surgery date? Did you do the surgery at West LA or South Bay or ? Thanks!
