  1. Are there any clothes swap groups in the DFW area? Maybe someone who is just a few months ahead of you that would like to sell/donate their clothes that are getting to big for them and get clothes from someone else who is a few months ahead of them?
  2. If I'm 5"1 when I get to 132 lbs, what size jeans do ya'll think I'd be wearing? Anyone out there about that height and weight now?
  3. I'm not telling my dad because I don't want to worry him. Of course after it's over and I'm dropping weight he will notice and I will tell him, but the surgery will be over by then and he won't have to worry. My kids know and my husband knows. My office knows because I had to fill out FMLA paperwork because I'm going to be off work for a week and the paperwork came back from the Bariatric Center, so of course everyone in my office knows. I don't need anyone's opinion.
  4. So my date it June 1st! I could have done it earlier but couldn't manage getting off work any earlier. So I start my liquid diet on Memorial day! and of course my Girl Scout Troop is going camping the weekend before my surgery so while they are eating s'mores and hot dogs I'll be drinking my food! This liquid diet thing before the surgery and the possibility of hair loss afterwards are my biggest concerns! Any tips?
  5. It would be a blessing if I hated chocolate after surgery!
  6. I am so with you on this, I'm a nurse also. I think being a nurse gives you more understanding of all the things that can go wrong and doesn't help with the fear and anxiety! My husband wasn't on board till I told him the doctor said I was going to die without the surgery. That was a bit of a little white lie, I'm gonna die someday with or without the surgery. My kids are excited for me, my friends are telling me not to do it, I'll just gain it back. Ugh! I just don't feel like I have much of a life right now, I'm tired all the time and my joints hurt. I just want to have some energy!
  7. I was told the 7 days of liquids was to reduce the size of the liver to help keep it out of the way and reduce any possible injury to it.
  8. I really don't want to lose my hair! Is it from losing weight so fast or low Biotin or low Protein? I can up the biotin and protein but no the pace of my weight loss
  9. I had one a week ago. I was really nervous also but it was nothing! They started an IV took me back, put some medicine in my IV about 10 minutes later I was back in my room wide awake! I went shopping afterwards! You never know anything even happened
  10. I just went to a consultation and have started the psych eval, nutritionist, etc and I'm already having the last supper syndrome! I know once I have the surgery there are things I can never eat again, I'm like an addict, a little and I'm hooked again. I can't eat sweets or I'll eat them again to the point I will gain weight. I know I won't be able to eat much after surgery and my appetite won't be good after the surgery so that is my chance to change my eating habits. Some things I am just going to have to give up forever or I'll be eating them again to much!
  11. ok those of you who just had surgery congratulations!!! Hope you are all doing well. What has been the hardest part so far?
  12. I am planning on May. I have psych eval tomorrow, nutritionist and cardiac stress test on Monday. EGD on Thursday, then it gets submitted to insurance. They have 15 days to reply but the doc's office said it was taking more like a week. Then I have one more pre-op group meeting before we schedule surgery. I am so ready to get this done!
  13. The not eating for 10 days is the part that has me the most afraid, but I guess as long as I can have liquids I'll be ok. Just gonna drink A LOT of liquids, Jello, etc. Thanks for the encouragement!
  14. OMG!!! I just went for my first consult and didn't know about this 10 day liquid diet thing! If I could do that on my own I could probably lose weight. I've never managed to stick to a diet for more than two days! How on Earth am I going to manage this! I need help! I was concerned about 24 hours of liquids before the EGD
  15. My doc said I could return in one week if there were no problems since I have a desk job. I figure I'll try to do Surgery on a Wednesday and then take the whole next week off. That will give me 11 days, with only 8 off work.
  16. Don't worry about if you sleep or not, it's just a check off. Lots of docs ask for it just to make a better case to your insurance company. Since you know your insurance is going to approve it ask your doc if you have to do it for him or for the insurance company? A lot of these docs are part owners of the sleep center they are sending you to so it's money in there pocket and you may not necessarily need it.
