  1. I have a question about the pre-op diet. I am on the 3 month 1200 cal. Diet and my sugar has dropped several times. I have adjusted my long term insulin. How will I keep it from dropping on the liquid diet? Will the Dr. Take me off insulin? Help! I'm worried about this.
  2. Karen W, I'm 64 and was concerned that I was too far gone health wise. I have all the co-morbidities except heart disease. I am a preschool teacher. I have taught preschool for the last 11 years and before that I taught in public school for 30. I am retiring at the end of May. My knees are hurting so badly. I have been to 3 seminars, had my appointment with the surgeon, counsellor, dietitian, and my exercise person. I have gotten clearance from the cardiologist, internist, and see the pulmonologist Friday. I have had EDG too. I am on a 1200 calorie diet for 3 months. Glad to hear that you did well. I am so excited and nervous that I won't be approved. Glad age wasn't a factor.
  3. When on another liquid diet I also used sugar free Jello pudding to flavor vanilla protein shakes. Experiment with flavors. All flavors of jello pudding work well. I used 2T. Ice cubes in blender makes it better.
  4. Me too, I'm meeting the surgeon on April 21. Wonder how soon I can have my surgery.
  5. I am like you in that I don't care about the weight just improving my health, quality of life, and get my mobility back. I am just beginning. I see the doctor next Tuesday. Also, I see the counsellor, dietitian, and exercise person. My biggest fear is that I don't get approved. I wish you the best and hope to hear from you again.
  6. Hi! I am joanne. I am 64 years old. I am nearing my second retirement. I taught first and third graders for 30 years and now work at a preschool where I teach 4&5 year olds. I have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. I have been overweight most of my adult life. I really gained when I was put on insulin. I am 230 and 5'1'. I have high BP, diabetes, degenerative discs, have osteoarthritis, sleep apnea, etc. I go to meet with the doctor on April 21. I will also see a counsellor, nutritionist and and exercise person. I have been on every diet and have not had success and if I did I quickly gained it back. I am very excited, but I'm also scared. I have a question maybe someone can answer. I take 2 Celebrex per day for arthritis in my knees. I read that these types medicine are not allowed. How will I handle my arthritis pain? Thanks
