  1. I have been struggling for the past 3-4 months trying to loose my last 20 pounds and would definitely recommend some ides/thoughts/suggestion's. I have come a long way from 217 pounds to 140/142. I keep fluctuating at these numbers. I am pretty much eating a small qty and good food though occasionally I do take a different road to eating more carbs, after my post op diet and taking my Vitamins daily. I have also lost a lost of my hair and don't know what can I do to improve to stop my hair loss or to grow hair. I am taking Biotin together with my regular vitamins. I am wanting to get back to 120. Also I did my one year post op check and my A1C dropped from 8 to 5.8(which is a little high but better than before). So would like to know if anybody who's A1C did not come down to normal, what did you do? Normal being below 5.6. Any thoughts/suggestions/ideas/recommendations welcome.

    Hair Loss

I did my one year post op blood work and all looked normal except for my A1C and fasting blood sugar which was a little high (A1c came down from 8 to 5.8 and fasting blood sugar was 102). But they did not mention anything about thyroid. Do you think I should ask them for that specifically?

    Hair Loss

My one year anniversary was on August 12, 2017 and its so disappointing to see my hair loss. I am taking all my post op vitamins and biotin. But I have lost a lot and don't know what I can do to bring it back. So anybody with any suggestions please let me know cuz its devastating
  4. Hi, I'm new to this. I was recently diagonsed with Type2 diabetic and my A1C was 8 and now I'm on metamorphin 500mg once a day and my doc told me to take a blood preasure medicine, though my preasure was normal, but said that you need to coz preasure meds need to be taken when diabetic. I would like to please know if anybody who has had the sleeve surgery, been able to totally be diabetic free and off meds. Has the A1C become normal and if so, how long would it be, before you see results. I am extremely worried, coz both my parents are diabetic and my parents have been insulin dependent for a few decades, so I dont know if it is genetic and will ever go away. How long is it advisable to take time off work ? coz I dont have leave since I just started a new job. My job is not very hectic coz I have a desk job and do my work in the computer all day. I do not have my surgery date yet and dont know what to expect, though this website has been extremely helpful to get more insight or knowledge into what to expect and what not to. Any response, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Did anyone go to surgery alone.

I was planning to go alone for the surgery. But since my older daughter knew about it and I was comfortable with her being there, I took her since she insisted. She is 16. I recommend that since your BF and children know about them, you should take ur son, coz the day of the surgery and the next day will be hard and it would be nice to have someone of your own around to get u stuff when ur in pain. But after the first week, you will be able to pull it off well. I was glad I took my daughter and that's the best decision I made. Please don't go alone, unless u don't have one, but since u do then use it. Good luck!
  6. Hi, Its been two months since I've done my sleeve surgery. I have been taking my Protein drinks and the Vitamins on a regular basis, until lately I have come to a point where I no longer like to take my Protein Drink and forgetting to take my vitamins daily. I have heard from the dietician that by not taking the meds, chances are that you can loose your hair, loose tooth and other weird side complications can arise. I also don't feel short of energy, though I am not taking my meds regularly and neither I am able to take in 64ounces of Water. I can barely take 40 ounces of water. Will this by any chance affect the weight loss journey, coz at this point (2months post op), I am only loosing 2lbs per week. Would I loose more, if I did take in more water? Has anybody gone through this? and if you don't mind, please share your experiences.

    Water & Protein

I to am tired of my drinks and don't know how to get my proteins in for the day. Would you be able to tell how much protein do we get when we eat each of the listed foods?
  8. Hi, My plan is to go to surgery alone and get out of the hospital alone. I have two kids ages 10 and 16 who go to school and my mom will take care of them while I am gone, so practically speaking I don't want them to miss school just for me and my mom is old and not healthy to accompany me to the hospital. Also, is it absolutely required for somebody to be there for you during and after the surgery. And if so what is the reason? other than moral support Secondly, is it realistic for me to drive home after surgery or should somebody drive me home or should I take a cab ? Have anybody driven home after the surgery ? I live just 15mins away from hospital, so I am guessing it should be ok. The doc says that I will arrive at 5.30 in the morning on the day of the surgery and will leave the hospital the next day. So how long should we expect to be in the hospital ? Any thoughts, recommendations, ideas or guidance are always welcome!
  9. Oh ok. I understand. The reason being that my husband is out of town and my daughter who is 16 just got her learners permit. So based on what responses I got, it is best to have somebody drive you home. So now tell me, can I drive on Friday(just to work and back) after my surgery was done on Wednesday ?
  10. Well congrats! I know it is exciting. Good luck on your journey!
  11. Hi, I asked my dietician and have not yet received an answer. Are we allowed to have eggs ? and if so how many a day. And together with the Protein drink for lunch, can we have veggies like carrot and cucumber. Are we allowed to snack veggies during the day if we get hungry ? coz my Protein Drink does not fill me up and I am extremely hungry. Thanks,
  12. Hi, I do work a lot on my computer and talk to people, and do not do any lifting at all. Can anybody tell me as how to many days is it generally advisable to take time off from work as I do not have much leave left ? I only want to apply the minimum that is absolutely required, coz at work I am only sitting at my desk and use the computer. Thanks,

Days off work after sleeve surgery

So basically it looks like there is no need to really take leave unless there are complications. So I guess taking Thursday off after the surgery and going back to work on Friday does not seem that bad. And then take rest over the weekend and back to work on Monday.

Days off work after sleeve surgery

Thank you for your responses. My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday Aug 12 and I was thinking of taking Wednesday and Thursday off and go back to work for 1 day (Friday) and then we have Sat/Sun, where again I can get rest. Or is it recommended to take off on Friday too. I have an IT desk job. I am only doing this because I don't have much leave left. But if I have to absolutely take Wed/Thur/Fri off, then I guess I have no choice.

    Preop Diet

@Shrinking Peach- Thank you I believe I can start some of these early. Can you please give me an idea of what your typical day with meal are kind of . It does not have to be exact, but that should help me get an idea of the kind of food I can have for Breakfast, lunch, dinner. And I can take it from there. I call my nutritionist, but not very helpful

    Preop Diet

What is the pre-op diet as I would like to start loosing some weight before my surgery and i beleive my surgery might be scheduled in june and i want to loose quiet a bit because i have a wedding to attend to in first week of aug and since i dont have much time after my surgery i am hoping that i loose some before. so if you could please share i would truly appreciate it
  17. @allyray- Good Luck! Hope all turns out well for you and I am sure it will. I too am doing this for the very same reasons you mentioned. One question I would like to ask you, is that do the A1C need to be normal before your surgery ? or coz I am not paying a lot of attention to my sugar nos right now, but kinda eating healthy, and one day is the cheat day in a week., though my weight has not really dropped down a lot. I do not have my surgery date yet and have not yet met my surgeon either. I believe once my psyciatric doc gives thumps up, I get to see the surgeon as I was told by my NP. I have BCBS for my insurance and I dont know if there is any specifi requirements, coz my NP didnt tell that to me either except that there is 90day waiting period. I cant wait for my surgery to get done. I also dont know if my weight needs to drop a few before my surgery. Please let me know how things go for you:) Good luck to you too!
  18. @dwarfbunnymam- That's awesome to see results that quickly! I am having my psychic evaluation on 29th May so let's see how it goes

    I'm scared I'll be saggy....

I was diagonosed diabetic and I hated that disease so much that I was in denial and would refuse to take medcations coz I thought I could do it myself, but the truth is that if you're diabetic and not taking medicine, you are only making your health worse day by day. So ultimately I decided to take metamorphin and the preasure medicine comes automatically with it, coz the presure medicine is required to protect your kidney. I do not have my dates yet and still have to have my psychic evaluation done and hoping to meet the surgeon sometime this June. But my hope and prayer is that I can put my diabetics in remission after the surgery God willing and never have to look back again. But my advise is that you please take ur diabetic meds coz it would only help than making ur numbers worst, which was my situation for alomost more than a year. If you dont keep your sugar nos. under control, it can damage ur eye sight, kidney and much more, so please do not ignore diabetics as I have seen the damge its done to both my parents and my lost my dad to that killer disease...
  20. Thank you for your advises! I truly appreciate it !
  21. Yes I have the psychologist appointment. I did'nt mean to write that ,but my nutritionist keeps mentioning the psychic appt. My bad I should have known
  22. I am planning to have my psychic docs appt and dont know what kind of questions I should ask or what I should expect both before pre-op and post-op surgery. Would this session with the doc be face to face or they make me go to sleep? Any useful tips/advise would be appreciateed. Thanks!

    100 pounds gone for me!

WOW:) you look awesome!!!! A job well done. keep it up!
  24. @Cannonbaby- Good thinking. I did not even think about it that it would take around 3-4months before checking the blood sugar. I wonder if they want my A1C to be normal before the surgery? coz nobody mentioned about it. So I guess in my next visit I plan to ask the NP about this. @@Jamie -Thx for the information, that was helpful so that financially I can plan myself. @@4MRB4PHOTO - thats a blessing that you've got off ur med. I hope and pray that mine too turns out good and my A1C gets back to norm
  25. @Kathy- that is really wierd. I am doing this surgery truly to reverse my diabetic and pray that all goes well, but I dont know whey you's went reverse. Did you ask the doctors?
