Anyone not have to do 2 weeks diet pre op?
None for me. Had a month of an altered diet. Breakfast of a shake or meal replacement (ie one of their protein soups, etc). A snack. Lunch same as breakfast. Another snack. Dinner was a lean cuisine type of meal-but it had to reach a certain calorie count, if not, I had to add a side, like a salad or green beans, etc. Then on clears one day preop. That was it. And I was 403 day of surgery.

Sugarfree mints and chewing gum
No gum, as per my surgeon. Causes you to swallow excess air. Mints and mouthwash should be fine. My own opinion is just be careful with mints and don't let them take up real estate needed for nutrition.

Traveling!
I was on a cruise at 7 weeks. Things went just fine!

Protein shakes post op.
Vwlover - I watched a UK based show on weight loss. The milk diet is not the same as the U.S. Liquid diet. The milk diet is just that - milk. I believe 4 quarts (or pints, I forget) per day. The U.S. Liquid diet varies per doctor - length varies as well as liquids. It usually requires a number of protein shakes per day, along with other fluids. Some might include a light, protein dense meal in the evenings, with a duration of 1 day up to 4 weeks. All depends on the surgeon.

Portion size?
I clarified with my NUT Monday, and she said 4 oz (1/2 cup) permanently.

What was your "Yep. I'm getting WLS." moment?
Finding out my insurance would pay. I had looked into it years ago, but ins would never pay. When it changed, I called immediately.

Anyone with GERD have VSG?
Horrible gerd preop. Have had no trouble post. Now I'm still on a ppi, which my surgeon requires, but I was on one for years preop and it was still uncontrolled, so much better!

G.e.r.d &'d heartburn
Thank u mistie I hope for the best I don't really want gastric bypass. .. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using the BariatricPal App I think several factors have made it better. Eating less so less pressure internally. As well, I'm eating different, healthier food. That makes a difference. It is a fact that sleevers are more prone to gerd, however, I've been so blessed! I lived on Pepcid preop-never have to touch it now!

Friends and Family?!
I have been blessed in that I have not dealt with the disapproval. I told my mom, sibs, aunts/uncles. No one else. I wasn't so much worried about someone disapproving, it was a matter of accepting it for myself-and I am getting better.

G.e.r.d &'d heartburn
I had severe gerd preop. Post op it is soooo much better. I was on a ppi pre and I'm on one now. But it's still a complete difference.

Exercise/Lifting 1 Week Post Op?
For me, lifting was restricted to 10 pounds for 6 weeks. Same for exercise, aside from walking. Driving was 24 hours without narcotics. Technically. No one around me wanted me to drive though lol. I was in pain and didn't feel week, so I was driven for a solid week.

Ibs c and after surgery results
I have Crohns. I had the sleeve 10/25/15. I have been amazed at how much better mine has been! Much less nausea, less pain, etc. never really anticipated that. I think the sleeve is a good option with any type of IBS, as it leaves your intestines alone, lol

Easter Weight Loss Challenge
That is great news! We love cruising!! Thanks! I do, as well. I'd almost live on the ship. The downside is that food on the ships is not geared towards people who have had wls. Yes, they do have things like fruits, etc., but for a wls diet, it's hard to manage food. I come back from a cruise and can't even look at boiled eggs for a month! Rofl
