Thank God for my Sleeve!
Just wanted to take the time to say I am very happy with the decision to have this surgery! I believe it was Gods will to get me and every other fellow sleever healthy! Thank you God for allowing my surgeon to be knowledgeable enough to perform my surgery, thank you for guiding the nurses, workers, and every one else who was a part of helping me on April 8, 2015! Thank you God for their knowledge and for passing it along to me to be able to live a healthier life! Thank you God for this website, for more reasons than one! I pray for all of those who are having problems, or struggling with something that you will guide them through the storm! Life is not a guarantee but Heaven can be! I'm so thankful I have a spot reserved for me there! Do you? I truly am thankful to God, and just want to share my experience with others! I'm sure I'm not alone here, and even though I know some will not agree with me, it's ok!

"Thank God for My Sleeve!"
I will just pray for whomever invented this forum, and the people who put others down for being a Christian. It's so funny to me when people can voice their opinion but judge others whose opinion differs from their own. You can thank your surgeon, but the truth is, he/she wouldn't have been able to perform your surgery if God had not given them the brain to do so! This topic was showing up under my "unread" topics, and that's the only reason I clicked on it, but I'm so very glad I did! "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, for whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16. There's a really good book called the Bible that explains everything from creation to the end of the earth! All I can do as a Christian is pray for the non-believers and hope someone crosses your path one day that shares the good news with you and then I'll see you in heaven one day! I will not criticize you, but I will pray for you! ❤️

5 days post op can't do all liquid diet. Anyone else do okay on soft foods?
I ate a few purées at a week out, and cream soups! I know how you feel about not being able to tolerate liquids! It was awful, but important to us all! I realize that each person is different but we all had our tummies cut off... So just remember we are still healing! That first week I was still medicated and probably consumed more "soft food" than I did in my third week! I think when your fogginess wears off and you get back to your normal routine of things you will see the benefits of sticking to the plan, or at least close to it anyway!! Lol! ???? were all human!

observastions 1 week post op
That's great! I still struggle getting in 90 at almost 4 weeks out! But I can't gulp, still have to sip most things or it hurts! Congrats!

Extreme Diarrhea
I was sleeved 4/8, and most protein shakes still have the same effect on me! Even at almost a month out I make sure I'm by a potty if I drink a shake! Liquid in, liquid out..... And I've had the same experiences you had a few times myself, I think we all have if we're honest! Our body doesn't care where we are, potty, car, bed... Lol

Calories at 3 weeks
Just curious, how many calories I should be getting at three weeks out? I know not everyone counts calories, but it seems with my shakes, and now purees I'm getting around 900, and I'm thinking this is too much. I just fear if they are this high right now what will they be by three months?

Dumping syndrome with sleeve?
I had a moment of weakness in week 2 and had a couple of bites of peanut butter and jelly on a spoon.... Big big mistake. Racing heart, rapid pulse, I got very pale and felt sick all over. Followed by tiredness sleepiness and diarrhea. Lasted about an hour or so, then all was ok, but my hubby almost took me to the ER. I'm only three weeks out and had the sleeve, I'm pretty sure what I experienced was dumping!

Help! Starting to graze at four week out.
I'm scared of this also, I would lay in bed and think about food until I actually got up and ate it! Guessing I need to try to keep a healthy option for when I do break down! My weakness was cereal...

Were you guess as prepared as u thought u would be?
yes i agree no matter how research or information uve been giving NOTHING has prepared for this very moment this journey has been CRAZY ive asked my self a million times why did i voluntarily do this to myself i felt like i took my rights away i was and still am bitter about the choice i made and sorry to say i dont wanna heal to see results i wanna heal so i can EAT!! Not to mention im going to miami may 30th ???? idk how this is gonna play out well see tho any i was sleeved 3.23 so im still new to this to im here if u ever need to talk because i could use a friendly ear as well I feel the same way! I think I'm upset at myself now for not being able to control myself enough to do it on my own, now I feel like I'll never eat again! That was my punishment! Lol

Anxiety
I am one week out exactly and NO ONE told me the downside of this! I know it was my responsibility to research and I honestly thought I did all I could do, but maybe I only read what I wanted to read! I was not expecting at all to miss food.... I honestly thought once I had the surgery I would never be hungry again. Boy was I wrong. The mental aspect of it, especially in the beginning, is tough. If you are like me and are a food addict, it will be hard, maybe the hardest thing ever. But, with that being said, I know that I am going to make it, one day at a time and it will be so worth the mental anguish. You are one step ahead of the game because you are aware there will be a struggle with missing food. This site and all the wonderful success stories are the only way I've made it through this week. I keep looking ahead and I can see the prize and it's beautiful! Don't psych yourself out, but, do realize mourning food for some is a real problem! I wish you the best of luck and it will be one of the best decisions you have ever made! It's so good to know that we are not alone, we have similar struggles and can help each other during the bad times! And I honestly believe in my heart that in having this surgery the good will definitely out weigh the bad!

Stomach soreness
My soreness lasted about 5 days maybe. I'm only a week out and today was by far the best day! So trust me it gets better! Good luck to you!!
-
Pain and discomfort. 9 days out
I'd like to know this also... When do you "swallow" normally!!!
-
Did anyone else get a pill your supposed to take for first three months to protect the stomach?
I was unsure what the carafate was for! I have it too an am taking it four times a day (surgery 4/8)... So it is to coat our stomach? To aid in healing I guess?

Having a hard time
Did I write this? Wow I am in the same boat.... From the first day of hearing about this surgery I asked The Lord that if it was for me, and this was the right path to take, to please let it happen! And well, I was self pay, no sleep tests, no restrictions of any kind! Got my approval letter very quickly, surgery scheduled quickly... It all happened in about a months time!!!! After all the research I did, which was a lot.... I don't think I came across a post that had regret!!! It's like I am just now seeing posts from people who are regretting the surgery!! It is very ironic, but how I sum it up is... The Lord must not have wanted me to see those posts, maybe I would have backed out or postponed the surgery? And I do believe the surgery was what I should have done, I just didn't know it was this hard to recover from it My surgery was 4/8 and i definitely am not getting enough Protein in, which I am working on, and maybe I'll have more energy then!!! Good luck to you! Your not alone, I feel the same way.

What happens at presurgery consultation with surgeon?
I had my 3 hour nutrition class the day of my final visit with the doctor, and my NUT advised me to write down questions to ask the doctor. I only had a few, which I asked, he answered, and that was it! My visits were very brief each time, no exam. I guess I researched enough before hand, and that it was ok for me! Even the day after surgery (I was outpatient), I went back to the office to have my drain removed and my doc wasn't there when I arrived, so his partner took it out for me. I've spent a lot more time talking with my NUT than I have my doctor!

Puree food ideas
I am 6 days post op. First couple of days I def stuck to the liquid thing 100%. Here lately I have been making soups with soft noodles and making sure I chew them very well. I myself am getting kind of sick of the liquid diet. I am ready to move on. It's looking like I am on that same track! Did any of you have problems with healing? It's so much more filling and I have a little more energy! Just worried about my staples!!! I'm 5 days out ????

Pre Op Diet Loose Stools
It happened to me too. I just summed it up to not having anything solid going in! I'm only 5 days out and it hasn't really stopped, it just isn't (as much) bc there's not much going in at this point! ???? Good Luck to you!!
-
really struggling
If I ever hear anybody say that to me, they will also get a nice long lecture. Ugh!!
-
April 6 sleeve!
I'm down 20 lbs since pre-op diet started on April 1st, surgery was the 8th.
-
Clothing size
This is funny because after a size 14 pants got too tight, my pants size became LEGGINGS ???? Decided to have the surgery just when I realized I would have to go up to a 16, and hopefully never going back there again!!
-
What was your prescribed diet post-op day 5?
I get purées after week two which can't get here soon enough???? but soup didn't sit well with me, so I did take a small bite of ricotta and it was heaven on my tummy!

Ladies! Pain Levels post-op
I've also had two c-sections, hysterectomy, and gall bladder removal... And the pain isn't as bad as the other three, but the weird part that I guess I didn't think about, is where the pain will be. All the other surgeries were low on the abdomen and this one feels literally right between my ribs, and up into my throat! But yes I was (and still am) sore, it's a little better than the other surgeries though, but it does hurt!
-
really struggling
I can't wait to be one of the ones who says it WILL get better! Just have to wait it out! I promise!!! Because I do know it will get better.. I just don't like how it is now:( And my mind doesn't understand why it's BFF (food) is not here with it to comfort and ease the pain like before! It really has been comforting to hear I'm not alone in the regret department! So I wish all of you luck that were April sleevers like me ✌️ next month hopefully we will be consoling the May sleevers... And so on and so on ))

No pcp!
I went to an urgent care clinic in my town, told the doc my situation, and he wrote the letter after my blood work came back ok. He said it would benefit me more to have the surgery than to not and be overweight.
-
Be honest - does anyone regret the surgery?
Thank you for your response! @@MrsG'journey glad to know I'm not alone! I do see a pattern of this mental hunger falling off gradually... And honestly I do think that's what it is, mental! I want to eat with, and like everybody else. But that's how I ended up overweight in the first place. So many people say food is a drug and I'm the addict trying to quit cold turkey and that's a tough job to do. I just have to keep on keeping on... No turning back now!! Lol so it's up to me to make the best of it! Good luck to you, if I wasn't on this site I probably would have lost my mind by now! So thankful for all the feedback!
