Michigan sleevers
I had my surgery on June 22nd and still have not received a bill from the hospital. Does this seem normal?

Singles website match.com
I'm thinking of migrating over to Match myself. I am on eHarmony and like it but my matches have suddenly switched to being from Canada. I had a lot of matches in the US but now every match is in Canada. I don't have anything against Canadians but I don't want to deal with the hassle.

Diet Pepsi
Diet pop is not pointless. It is 99% Water after all so it has the same benefits as water. It has no calories or sugars. You won't gain weight by drinking. Someone will inevitably post a flawed study that shows correlation between obesity and drinking diet pop but not causation. I have lost 120 pounds drinking it. Here's to 120 more.

First Time Dating... Ever
I was 30 when I went on my first real date. I wish I would've started this at 22. I just have a real problem communicating in person. I can communicate well electronically but not personally. I'm not good at small talk and starting conversations. It is also seems that as a man I'm the one who is supposed to approach a woman and that is frightening to me. I keep reminding myself of what my mother told me about bees. They're just as afraid of you as you are of them.

Fruits....
The sugar in fruit is not the same as sugar in sweets. Eat whatever fruit you like. Not a single person on this forum became overweight or became a diabetic because they ate fruit.

Low carb
I don't even pay attention to carbs. Yea it's not popular but I've lost over 100 pounds. I adapting a more Mediterranean diet. My grandparents came from Italy. Ate pasta almost daily with their olive oil. Lived into their early 90's. Had no idea what a carb was. Italians have one of the highest life expectancies in the world and are one of the heart healthiest people in the world and yet they eat the pasta with the dreaded carbs. It reminds me of the anti egg craze when I was a kid. My family was told by doctors we would all have heart attacks if we ate eggs. Egg beaters were spawned by this anti egg craze. Now eggs are considered a super food. My downfall was always having too large of portions and eating a lot of food that was fried. I know I will get scolded, but I eat a Lean Pocket for lunch. Little high on calories but on pocket has 13 grams of protein which is almost about the same as the greek yogurt I was choking down. It's quick, has good amount of protein, and tastes good.

Michigan sleevers
Cass Elliot was a singer from The Mamas and the Papas who, by urban legend, died in her sleep choking on a ham sandwich. I am not taking medicine for reflux. I haven't had reflux until last night.

Michigan sleevers
Four weeks out and I had something interesting happen. It was 3 am and I had awoken which is normal for me. Everything was fine and I readjust to go back to sleep. Suddenly I feel something come into my throat. It burned like hell and I thought I was going to vomit. It literally choked me and I shot up out of bed. I didn't vomit but I belched a couple times and everything was fine. I worried about what would have happened had I not been awake? Would I have ended up like Cass Elliot?

Constipation.
How long did it take you to get some relief with the Colace? I took some today and really want it to kick in soon lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Well I had finally gotten it out before I took the Colace so that was a relief. I took the Colace to prevent further constipation and so far it is working. You still take it daily or how often? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I still take it daily. I'm afraid to stop.

what happens the day of surgery
Arrived at the hospital. Went into an office to check in for about 5 minutes and got my wristband. Went to a room to change into the hospital robe. Was given some mouthwash. Another nurse came in and shaved my stomach. They then wheeled me to a preop room. Had an IV inserted. Had some massaging things put on my calves. Spoke with the anesthesiologist. Then wheeled to the operating room. Got on the table. Strapped my arms down. Then I woke up in recovery.

Post surgery expectations
I lost 31 pounds in the two weeks preop. I have lost about 6 pounds in the 3.5 weeks since. I guess it's evening out.
-
Guys who started over 400 lbs.
When did you guys start making big progress after surgery? I'm 3.5 weeks out and my weight loss is slower than before surgery. I average about 70 grams of protein, no more than 1,000 calories and at least 60 minutes on my bike. I lost 31 pounds on my two week diet and my surgeon is expecting big things. I don't expect 15 pounds a week but I have only lost about 6 pounds in the past 2.5 weeks.

Choosing a Hospital
I had my surgery done at St John in Detroit. It was a pretty good experience. I got a private room that was nicer than most hotel rooms I have stayed at. It was really big, had a flat screen TV, two large chairs, and a large private bathroom. I didn't have complications so I really didn't need the nurses much. The one issue was when the IV went dry, the machine would just beep constantly and they were slow to come after I called. One time was 30 minutes. When your trying to rest this constant beeping in your ear is maddening. I was also surprised they didn't have me walk. I walked to the bathroom and that was it. They kept some things on my legs that massaged them to keep the blood flowing.

I'm at 60 minutes a day exercise. It's really the same as I was preop.

OK, not trying to be mean, but there actually are stupid questions lol
Not everyone's doctor sends them home with a robust list of acceptable foods. If everyone is suppose to just eat what their doctor says, seems senseless to have a nutrition section on this forum.

Do we have to follow up with our Doctors FOREVER? :(
I am 31 and my surgeon is in his mid 60's. I hope I don't see him for the rest of my life. That would mean something went wrong.

Guys who started over 400 lbs.
I started at 470 and was 380 by surgery time. Surgery was 3 weeks ago and I'm down to 369. Hoping I start picking up the pace because it's disappointing losing at a slower pace after surgery.

Michigan sleevers
Three weeks post op and I'm down 11 pounds. My surgeon said i should lose over 100 in 6 months so I'm off that pace. I may have been pushing what I can eat. Decided to have a piece of chicken. No issues eating or digesting it but I hope I don't regret trying it too early.

Constipation.
I'm using Colace. I never had constipation in my life but a week after surgery I was in labor for 45 minutes. I didn't want to go through that again and the Colace is working well.

OK, not trying to be mean, but there actually are stupid questions lol
I ate Peanut Butter at my soft food stage. It was soft and had a lot of Protein. It wasn't on my list but I decided to be a rebel and eat it anyway. There could be a lot worse things than peanut butter and jelly.
