  1. awesome! I know from all the brown fat we carried pre weight loss surgery it kills our testosterone levels. I was on androgel but am now on weekly injections, hcg and anastrozzle for an anti estrogen. it has made a huge difference in my strength and appetite too! try adding in whole lean food a bit at a time and I promise you will add lean muscle/weight! keep me posted!
  2. im 6'6" so and a naturally big guy. but at my lowest weight I looked frail! the thing for us is we get addicted to the gym life and that is awesome but our metabolism gets so high we loose too much too fast and the normal bariatric diet no longer works for us. usually anything under 7% body fat you start to fatigue a bit but ive seen guys get lower. id say at you height and build at 200-205 at 7-8% body fat you would look and feel amazing! ever had your testosterone levels checked?
  3. not sure how to post pics other than in my gallery but here is a link to some of my pics on here. ill add some more this week! http://www.bariatricpal.com/gallery/member/250028-oldbriannomore/
  4. man I was in the same spot! got down to 236lbs and was to damn skinny. I am in the bulking phase to gain weight right now myself and a its tough! im eating 3500 calories minimum all from whole food with the exception of 1 shake pre workout in the morning. meal timing is the key to get the food in due to our limited ability to intake a lot of food at one sitting. I do a half cup of jasmine rice with lean ground beef and veggies 3 times a day. baked fish or chicken with sliced sweet potato twice a day. I find as long as I get the carbs in before 3-4pm it doesn't bloat me bad. I go to the gym 2 times a day. 4am to do lifting and again at 730 pm for cardio. my last meal of the day is Protein only and is usually 4-6oz of ground turkey or sirloin at 6pm prior to cardio session. I am 256lbs today and my gain is all muscle. waist is steadily decreasing as im down to a 36 now from a 54 before surgery. try to eat more whole food but keep it lean! I say watch your waist instead of the scale! add as much food as you can handle as long as waist is either staying the same or decreasing...
  5. nice job @@BigJnav3 I was an april 2015 sleever too! im down 238lbs since and a gym freak now as well!
  6. my new ink! http://www.bariatricpal.com/gallery/album/23821-new-ink-3182016/
  7. YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE JUDGEMENTAL! AFTER THE JOURNEY WE HAVE TAKEN, ALL WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED, AND BEEN JUDGED FOR YEARS OURSELVES ITS A NORMAL THING! HIM BEING IS FOOLISH! HIM NOT HAVING A CURRENT PICTURE TELLS ME HE WAS HIDING HIS INSECURITY ALL ALONG! ITS GOOD HE HASNT CONTACTED YOU! HE DOESNT DESERVE YOU! JUST MY OPINION!
  8. IVE LOST 230LBS IN 11 MONTHS AND NEVER COUNTED A SINGLE CALORIE! ITS ALL IN THE PROTEIN! GET IN YOUR PROTEIN GOALS AND WATER INTAKE, EXERCISE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AND THE WEIGHT WILL COME OFF..
  9. my struggle to keep adding muscle and not lose too! im down to 243 from 472. want to stay at 240-250. im 6'6" so any less and I feel im too small..
  10. awesome! good luck on the challenge! looks like you have a good grip on what you are doing so far so keep it up! congrats! love the success stories!
  11. im currently on a flight so I cant go into full on detail but you must focus on Protein first as mentioned before. it is not for life however! I am 10 months out from my sleeve and have lost 217 lbs already. im working out a lot to gain muscle to aid in loose skin now. I eat well and have carbs in 2 of my meals every day for a total of about 100 grams. my protein is at 200 g. once you loose a good bit of weight and get exercising, your metabolism will increase allowing you more intake. its a science to get the right carb/protein intake but DO NOT count calories. im always around if ya have questions just message me. good luck!
  12. sorry folks. ran into a little issue and have been in Denver a few days. im heading home as we speak and will be back here soon.
  13. what is your current height, weight and age? on all your current exercising, I need length of times doing each. I need to get a ballpark on your resting metabolic rate from that info and then we can figure out your daily macros.. great job on your journey so far by the way!!
  14. again, if you have a question or issue and don't want to post it here pm me! no question is a dumb one! im here to help in any way I can! bring the question on!
  15. remember this, if you don't have enough gas in your car to go down the street, will it make it across state lines with the same amount of gas? answer= nope! you must add fuel to increase travel distance! adding calories will help metabolism speed up. they must be clean calories though! the calories in a chicken breast are not the same as say potato chips! have youever seen someone wear something that clearly doesn't fit? same with your calories! just because you have some calories left to eat within your target doesn't mean they can come from anything. they MUST FIT in your clean diet. this is why I am opposed to calorie counting all together. count Protein. use lean protein or low calorie whey protein and hit the protein goals! I guarantee results! im living proof! again ive lost 218 in 9 months this way!
  16. @@JamieLogical drinking calories are mainly referring to higher calorie type stuff that have higher sugar in them. look into universal nutrition whey Protein. its a life saver. many great flavors too! im currently using chocolate peanutbutter banana and its awesome! 88 calories but 1 g of sugar and 25g protein in 1 scoop. you could do 1 in the a.m and 1 just before bed and that's half your daily protein in the first few months. @@ssflbelle 2 carb types. complex and simple carbs. the way the body digests and stores or uses them are how they are based. its rather simple. eat a little complex in the morning with Breakfast to help fuel you and kick start your metabolism. simple carbs are a no-no! I got this for you!! happy motoring lol http://www.diabetes.org/food-and-fitness/food/what-can-i-eat/understanding-carbohydrates/types-of-carbohydrates.html @her1981 I really need to know what you are eating to determine if its hindering your losing weight. post me a typical day worth of food. what carbs are you eating to get to the 30? are you exercising? I bet I can get your weight falling off! just help me a little on some specifics and lets smash some goals! I think I got everybody! lol if you need personal help, just pm me! I wont bite I promise! well ok maybe I might!! good luck guys and gals!
  17. My opinion is counting calories will make you go insane lol! Focus on protein alone.by the time you hit that goal the isn't room or hunger for anything else.
  18. Some recommendations include the carbs due to the onset of fatigue the body will gain by going into ketosis if no carbs are consumed. Those soups have carbs but they are simple carbs that your body will use as fuel as opposed to complex carbs stored as fat. I wouldn't eat it more than 1 time a day though.
  19. Yes! ^^^great post and congrats! Your diet is along the perfect side for the average wls patients.
  20. I'd be glad to help with maintenance phase info too. I'd need body specifics and more importantly your exercise regimen and goals. If looking to add muscle to help loose skin it's a different ballgame than simply living and maintaining!
  21. They all base their nutrition on a generalized plan. Every metabolism is different and your work ethic plays a big role in it all. Not to be harsh but a lot of bariatrc patients were not working out pre surgery and continue not after. If you are, you need fuel to run on and that amount is not enough!
  22. Exactly correct. Forget calories, focus on protein and watch your waist preferably not the scale! Workout regimen needs to be consistent and physical! Kill it! You got this! I'm down 218lbs in 10 months! Check my profile, add me as a friend and question away! We all stick together! #family
  23. Your resting metabolic rate is burning far beyond what nut is recommended. I don't have your size and age so I'm not sure what that rate is but I guarantee its higher than your recommended intake!
