  1. I know this is old, but he is my surgeon-- I am still pre-op-- his videos were the reason I found him. He is great! Very informative and great to work with!
  2. Dr. Wiener is my surgeon!! The reason I picked him is A pound of cure and his approach to nutrition after WLS-- I found his website and watched all his videos-- then found he was in my state!! I made an appointment and had a consult with him. He felt the WLS is a good option for and we are working toward that! 5 more months of supervised diet then we can submit to insurance!! I am just starting to work through the steps of Dr. Weiner's program. ????????????
  3. I am so sorry this happened. He sounds insecure. Did you tell him your feeling? I known husband has low self esteem and is a little afraid that I will get "skinny" and leave him. He asks for reassurance a few times a week and I haven't even gotten the surgery yet! I am pre-op five months left til I can submit for insurance approval. My husband is also scared of the surgery and the long term effects. I invited him to my next appointment so he can talk to the doctor! Hang in there SCR1611990!
  4. Your doing fantastic!! Such an inspiration! ????????
  5. I know this is old, but I hope my approval with Highmark BCBS is just as quick! I am still doing my 6 month supervised diet right now--
  6. Did your surgeon submit your appeal? I am paranoid because I have Highmark BCBS too-- I know every policy is different but still..... Good luck with your appeal!!
  7. Did you guys ever start a local group? I am pre-op but looking to connect with locals!
  8. It would probably be better for you to advocate no catheters. A Suprapubic catheter is usually meant for long term use. I would recommend discussing it with your surgeon- you could possibly do prophy antibiotics if your worried about UTI's-- though Suprapubic catchers can cause UTI's too.... Good luck whatever you decide!
  9. I am pre-op and not from northern MI but.....just wanted to say hi to you Michiganders! I am in Ann Arbor-- ????????
  10. Hi Ladies! I am brand new to the site-- I am a registered nurse for 4 years now! I am working in an LTACH-- a long term acute care hospital. I work nights and we are short frequently so I have 6 patients about half the time (even though we are suppose to be at 5 for nights) I am meeting with a surgeon for my first consult tomorrow! I have already talked with my insurance and have the requirements which include 6 months supervised diet with MD of course and Psych evaluation-- luckily my preventative coverage covers visits for Bariatric treatment as well as nutrition counseling (unlimited) for patients with BMI of 30 or higher--- I am 47.5 so certainly meet that requirement! I am nervous about how long recovery will be! My job is hard (as you all know) and won't be able to do it if there is a lifting restriction-- I don't want to tell my coworkers about it... I do have STF so I was hoping in 2-3 weeks I could go back with out any restrictions. I am excited to start my pre-op journey! I look forward to talking with you all more!
  11. When I called my insurance they were really helpful-- she also helped me find the exact written requirements on their website as this is not listed in my benefit book- she also told me under my preventative coverage obesity appointments and nutrition visits are covered (unlimited) for patients with BMI over 30--- Mine is 47.5 so all good there! I have my first appointment/consultation with the surgeon tomorrow morning! Excited and nervous all at the same time!
  12. Onthefencejenny- you look amazing!! Your so pretty! ????
