How are we supposed to take all of the vitamins we need post op if we can only drink a sip of water at a time?

I am on June 12th. With Dr. Jose Rodriguez.

My band has not been filled pretty much since I got it so I have never had any restriction. I am hoping the band hasn't done too much damage in there, I am nervous about that. Where did you get your sleeve from?

What was the problem with the sleeve? I am revising from band to sleeve. The band was a nightmare for me and all I have done is gain weight since I have had it done! Now I am nervous about the sleeve, since you had problems with it!

Dr. Rodriguez did my band 9 years ago. He is a very nice man and very experienced. I will be getting a revision. I am nervous but excited.

It would be nice to find someone for support purposes.

How have people dealt with loose skin? For those that have lost 100+ pounds, how big of an issue is it? I am scared to lose the weight and end up feeling worse about myself because of the skin issue.

Anyone having surgery with him on June 12th or any date near that?

Liannatx, any of the numerous things I have read about on these boards like leaks, severe Gerd, not being able to swallow etc.

Okiebon, you are very lucky. I don't know if my pcp would be as supportive. I don't know if I even want to tell her about it.

What is everyone's plan if there are complications after you get back home? I am more afraid of that then the surgery itself. It's the reason I am having second thoughts.

Okiebon, how are you doing after surgery? What is your plan if heaven forbid, you have some type of complication? That's what I am afraid of, not the surgery itself, but the lack of support from doctors here in the U.S if something were to go wrong.

I went onto the complication thread and am now officially freaking out! I am having surgery on June 12rh with Dr. Jose Rodriguez and am scared of post op complications and what I am going to do back home if I have issues. I am thinking about just having him take the band out and not do the revision. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I am having my surgery June 12th with him. He did my band 10 years ago and will now do my revision. I am excited and scared! It would be great to go through this experience together. Where r u from? I am in Indiana.

I am also an RN so I loved hearing your point of view. I do speak Spanish though so I will be asking for those guantes!! LoL please keep us posted on your progress.

My date is June 12th and I am SO excited and scared at the same time! I am kind of doing the food thing right now because I want to start eating low carb which is my pre-op diet on April 1st so I have 2 1/2 months in when I get my surgery. I am going to Mexico to have it done, so I want to do everything I can to avoid complications.

I think the main reason I am hesitating is because I am going to Mexico for surgery and I know I will hear A LOT about that because I am a nurse and work at a doctors office! I am sure I will hear ALL sorts of reasons that I am crazy!! LoL

Thank you all for your input. Part of me wants to say something because I hate having to always cover a lie, I just don't want to hear comments when people are uninformed. I am leaning towards not lying because I think it will help me be accountable too.

I work in an office full of women and I am very torn as to whether I want to tell anyone about my revision. No one knows I have the band to begin with, so I would have to go through that whole story too. I am going to Mexico for my surgery and just don't want to hear it from everyone. My boss will know, but I don't know what to do about everyone else. I don't want people to find out later and then feel like the big liar of the office. What did everyone say at work? How did you explain your weight loss? Please help!

I have had my band for 10 years and it has been horrible!! All I have done is gain weight, have never been able to be filled. I am so sick of having to run to the bathroom to throw up. Its also random, one day I can eat something and the next time I eat it, its SO painful!! Any information would be great. I got my lap band 10 years ago and it has been a nightmare. I have never been able to have a fill and have gained a ton of weight since I got it!
