  1. I'm just starting this whole process. I meet with my dietician Wednesday. (I found out I have to see one for 3 months for ins approval) I used to drink a red bull every morning, 7 days a week. My go to soda was Pepsi and living in NC, I just had to have my sweet tea. About a month ago, I just gave it all up one day. I only drink water and when we go out I always order unsweetened tea. It DOES get easier. When I first started to give up the drinks, I started by having water on me constantly thru out the day. That helped tremendously for me. Also, I do sometimes drink Pure Leaf sweet tea. There isn't too much sweetness to it. Good luck & I'm sure you will overcome that soda addiction!!
  2. Has anyone had their insurance cover the bypass 100% or at least close to it? I had medicaid when I started this, but before it was approved I lost it. I'm looking into buying my own insurance coverage now and was just wondering what my options would be for little out of pocket cost. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Has anyone used Dr. James Harris in Wilmington, NC?
  4. Did your daughter ever get her surgery done in Mexico? I was told by my PCP that I didn't meet all the requirements for insurance due to the documents for past two years. I'm considering going the mexico route as well...
  5. Do you know if medicaid requires you to have 2 years of documentation from a doctor showing that you have addressed your weight issues with them? I've heard that's what's required, but I've also heard that it was just 6 months of failed weight loss attempts.
  6. You look great!!! I'm going to search online for that bottom now!
  7. Did medicaid require you to have the 2 years of documentation from a doctor showing that you have addressed your weight issues with them? I called medicaid to verify it, but the lady I spoke with didn't know but did tell me I was covered for it if I met the qualifications. The surgeons office I want to use told me I had to have the 2 year documentation. I think I may have just hit a wall with this now.
  8. Does anyone know the requirements for Medicaid? I have been told by one facility they need my PCP to verify a 6 month weight loss attempt and another facility has told me medicaid requires 2 year documentation from PCP showing I have addressed my weight issue with them. My only problem with the second one is that there were times where I went in to my PCP for an appointment but also addressed my weight while I was there so I'm doubting it was always documented. I feel like I'm lost and not sure which way to go....
  9. Have you found any info on wls with medicaid in nc? Im currently waiting for an appointment with my regular dr to get a referral to a surgeon. And the only surgeon I can find to accept Medicaid is Wake Forest Baptist Medical in Winston Salem.
  10. Thank you all so much for the info! I'm excited and nervous!
  11. Does anyone know how NC Medicaid works to cover WLS? The only facility I can find to accept Medicaid is Wake Forest Baptist Medical. Do you know of any other places maybe closer to the Raleigh area? I'm about 30 minutes east of Raleigh. Also, how long does the process take to actually get an appointment set for surgery? I know it's a lot of questions. ..I'm sorry!
  12. Thank you so much for the info! I have given up soft drinks and sweet tea. Mostly I drink milk and water. I'm ok with having the excess skin for a while actually. I would rather carry that than the fat. Large breasts run in my family, but plan on having the lift also.
  13. I have an appointment wtih my doctor February 27 to get a referral to a surgeon for WLS. I'm currently at 240 lbs and 5'5. I carry just about all my weight in my belly area (ever since having my son 11 yrs ago) and a little on my inner thighs. I know there are very good chances of the sagging/excess skin, but has anyone had any luck with limiting this amount? I plan to have the plastic surgery after I hit my goal if needed.I'm really crossing my fingers my doctor will give me the referrall I need. Any info is greatly appriciated!
