  1. Not been doing well last few days. Started Monday night when I ate a small amount of peanuts and perhaps didn't chew as well as I should have. Vomited and vomited. Not a good night. Went to work Tuesday and tried to stick with liquids including Protein shake, but Protein Shake would not stay down after only a few ounces. Got worse Tuesday evening so I went to ER Wednesday (yesterday). Of course before I went I vomited again so by the time I got there and had nothing on my stomach, I felt fine. Kept me all day. Gave me a bag of IV fluids but nothing on my stomach other than the contrast dye for the CT scan (which stayed down fine but it was following some nausea med in the IV). Nothing on CT so they sent me home. Small sips all morning then tried just the liquid from Chicfila chicken noodle Soup (no solid food - I swear). Unfortuantely vomiting started again. So here I am Thursday evening with no sustainable protein or Vitamins and very little fluids for 3 days. Pretty frustrated. They want me to go either back to ER and get scoped tomorrow by GI dr (surgeon not available). Alternatively, my surgeon's partner can do the EGD tomorrow but not sure Cigna can approve it that quickly. I know I am not dying and frankly I am grateful that perhaps they will find an actual cause for why I haven't progressed with solids as much as I thought I should. Here's hoping that they can dilate the stricture. UPDATE: Feeling better for now. Seem to have gotten rid of all that was in my stomach / esophagus so I feel better. I am going to keep drinking tiny amounts and dr office will try to get Cigna to approve EGD on emergency basis tomorrow morning and get EGD tomorrow afternoon. I feel better now that I have a plan. Sorry for all the rambling. Just needed to talk it out with my supportive Bariatric friends!
  2. Well my friend. Seems you may be right. They found nothing on the CT and sent me home last night. As long as I don't put too micron my stomach, I'm OK. Pills go down. But a few sips of chicken soup at lunch, not so much. They are going to schedule an EGD and see if there is a stricture. Very common at 3 months and I am 12 weeks today. Hope I don't have to wait over the whole weekend but if I do, at least now I know what it likely is and that it wasn't all in my head!
  3. Also the sugar fre Popsicle's have 4g carbs surprisingly. May not be a big deal in the scheme of things but I noticed it one day when I had 2 Popsicles and my carbs seemed high so I thought i would mention it. Otherwise yes the fruit is high carb
  4. Wow. Mine was a bigot a beatdown but not near that bad. I did leave there beyond frustrated though
  5. Congrats! Know that is a great feeling!
  6. Thanks for the info. Mine allowed nuts so I wasn't too worried. I thinking is something else. I ended up in the ER because just couldn't hold anything down. They gave me some IV fluids and just did a CT scan tinder if they could find anything. Waiting on the results. Maybe it's just a weird virus? All my bloodwork came backbone so they just don't know. The IV med and nausea med helped. Maybe I just needed help getting on top of it. Not sure. Waiting on Dr to advise CT results
  7. Maybe it's something else. I've been vomiting off and on for 40 hours now. Can't keep protein down at all. Not sure what to do. Dr office to let them know if I can't keep water down. Trying that now.
  8. Mine was 7 days. First 3 days are the worst. U have to just power thru. Swanson's Mexican Tortilla Broth was a life saver for me!
  9. That is great news!! Congrats!!
  10. I agree it IS hard to believe but given I was vomiting peanut pieces 14 hours after eating them, I believe I clearly didn't digest it. I am 12 weeks out tomorrow. I continued to vomit (at least 20 tines yesterday) and again this morning after only a few sips of water and my Synthroid. I'm feeling a little better now and sipping slowly but if I can't keep this water down, I am going to have to go to the ER. Thanks for the advice on timing of food. It was around 8 pm when I ate them but I will definitely be more aware of that in the future! Praying water stays down now and I don't have to go to ER. Hopefully I finally dislodged or digested it.
  11. Assuming I read you correctly that case manager works for the insurance company? If so, I would ask for everything in writing first and foremost. Secondly, ask if you have to use a Bariatric Center of Excellence and/or do they have someone in your area they would refer you to. Regarding the timing, not sure when your insurance renews, but if it is on a calendar year (i.e. renews 12/31), then you might consider trying to get it done this year. If the policy changes when it renews at 1/1 (and there are no guarantees it won't), then anything they tell you now could be completely different.
  12. Yep eat slower and smaller bites. Set a timer of 1 1/2 to 2 minutes and wait that long in between. I am almost 12 weeks out and I am still having trouble with too much meat. Just got to 1 oz at a sitting last week. That pain means you are full. It is just a different full. I really struggled with this so I stayed with puree for a LONG time. I don't know if it was because my stomach just needed longer to heal or if I was just too lazy to chew correctly. Either way, staying on pureeds longer is not a problem as long as you don't get stuck there forever. if you feel like you are eating slowly and small bites, go back to pureeds for a few days and then try again. Definitely call your NUT too with food logs in hand so you can be specific and see what they say - but don't be afraid to try pureed again for a little while. It will get easier.
  13. This is awful! I am so sorry! Is the insurance through your employer? If so, maybe your HR dept can help you? Either way, you should be able to access your policy in full IN WRITING to see what it says about bariatric surgery. If you do not find an exclusion, then they need to point you to exactly why they are denying the coverage (i.e a copy of the exact exclusion). Remember that each insurance policy is different. In other words, just because I have Cigna (for example) and it covered it, doesn't mean if you have Cigna that they will cover it. When I called, they told me about 50% of their policies cover bariatric surgery and 50% don't. Now having said all that, just know that even if they do have an exclusion in writing that they can point to, they also have to publish appeal procedures and you may need to follow those procedures to a T to try and get it covered. And don't just try once, if you get denied, try again. Someone posted the other day about how they got approved on what I think was their 3rd appeal. I think I would also contact your doctor's office to get a copy of the conversation they had - at the very least date and time - but if you can find out exactly what they told the dr office even better. Still doesn't take away the frustration and disappointment and I completely understand that, but I just wanted to throw out some ideas of what your next steps might be and hope having a plan gives you some hope!! Best of luck to you! Keep us posted!
  14. I'm so sorry you are feeling worse. Have you called the surgeon? Maybe you need to be readmitted to get hydrated and get the pain under control? Don't be afraid to call them or to go to the ER.
  15. UGH! I had peanuts last night. I even weighed it out - only 1/4 ounce but I after I ate them, I had this brief thought "did I chew that?". Um yea so I guess I didn't. I am SO sick! I threw up last night and several times this morning. I can barely get anything down. Few sips of shake came back up. I have managed 2 - 6 oz cups of warm tea all day. I tried chicken broth - got in maybe 2 or 3 oz before I feel too sick to go on. Have had Zofran 3 times today. I actually was at the surgeon's office this morning and she said I may just have to keep vomiting until it comes up. I must have a stuck peanut! Really? I am SO miserable.... OK, enough whining. Any great ideas out there how I can feel better faster? I really do not want to vomit again. Surely this darn peanut is gone by now!
  16. I'm so sorry that happened to you! They really were looking out for your best interest though. I had a nurse tell me when I was in the hospital once that they had a patient who hadn't revealed he had been sick and he ended up in ICU for a week. You do not want to go in to a surgery with a fever. I hope they can reschedule ASAP!
  17. @@tera1982 - yes please call a dr. Throwing up blood is very scary...
  18. Really sorry this happened but I gotta ask - throwing up blood?! That sounds very scary. Is this something you have done before?
  19. @@samskiles you can do a recipe on My plate but it is a little difficult to get to (or I haven't found an easier way). When you type in a food, go to the bottom of the food list and click on View All Results. Then go to the bottom of that page and click on Add a food to Database and then on that page you can click on Create a Recipe. I am sure there is a better way but this is the only way I found.
  20. Premier Protein ready made shakes are good an I use Precision Engineering Whey Protein Isolate in Chocolate and Vanilla. For unflavored, I use Doc Hales Whey-licous.
  21. I also use MYPLATE
  22. You are welcome! A 12 minute mile is incredible! You have made some incredible health changes I'm sure. I bet you couldn't do that 9 months ago!! Congrats! Celebrate!
  23. How you tried Gas-X? Also walking and heating pad help.
  24. Calorie-wide you are fine. Does that 5 or 6 meals include protein shakes? If so, you should be fine. If not, you might be grazing. Send your food logs to your NUT to have them review. My NUT said not to worry about calories but just focus on protein. That's tough to do when you are tracking on a calorie counting site tho! I got up to 800 calories today for the first time in 12 weeks and it (unnecessarily) made me nervous.
