  1. My immediate family, my boyfriend (we live together), my closest friends, my two bosses at work. Initially I thought about keeping it to myself and family only, but I realized my friends should know so that they can support me. Or at least know why my interest in going out with them has declined.
  2. 1/4c of homemade tuna salad and a mini Babybel light cheese wedge. Didn't finish it though.
  3. @@Sam58 Yes everything is decaf. I even have to skip some crystal light flavors because they're not decaf. The Water drinking problem improves if I drink water AFTER something else. So basically now plain water on an empty stomach is the problem.
  4. I drink tons of fluid but very little of it is plain water. I'm drinking protein, iced tea, crystal light and similar zero cal drinks and diluted vitamin water. I know those things will all keep me hydrated, but I also know nothing's better than clean fresh plain water :-/ thanks for all the tips. Glad to know its not just me.
  5. Good luck to everyone having surgery this week! First few days are rough but it gets easier and you'll be glad you did it!
  6. UGH. At any temperature. Plain Water absolutely sends my stomach into a knot and is so uncomfortable. I don't get it. Protein is fine, Crystal Light is Fine, Tea is Fine. Water? I am not fine. I'm making myself continue to drink it because (forgive me for this, TMI) my urine is terribly dark and I'm having a hard time using the bathroom on my own. I know part of that is because I'm not getting enough water in. Is this anything anybody else has experienced and did it ever go away? I LOVE water. Everybody knows my desk at work because it's always got a water jug and empty water gallon jugs around. I'm the Hydration Station. Now me and water just simply don't get along :-\
  7. I just chugged mine and followed it up with lots of Water. Any laxative product will dehydrate you.
  8. @@VSGAnn2014 I didn't intend to imply that secrets are dirty. I said for ME it would feel that way. I don't advertise my WLS, and you're right not everything is for everybody to know without cause. For me, it's not a secret, but it's also not just anybody's business. It isn't first date subject matter, but I wouldn't let months and months go by without saying something, especially if things advanced relationship wise. Just my opinion.
  9. They're making you do 2 bottles?! Ugh. One was plenty for me. I had been on a liquid diet for 12 days when I had my magnesium citrate day. What an uncomfortable day that was.
  10. Personally, I think if it comes up and you're comfortable with it, go ahead and tell him. If things advance and you wait to tell him, then it may seem like a lie or that you wanted to hide it or are ashamed of it. If someone has a problem with the fact that you've had WLS, would probably be best to know sooner rather than later after you've made an investment of time and emotions. For me it's not something I advertise, but hiding it makes it seem like it's a "dirty secret" and it isn't.
  11. I most burp but I'm less than 2 weeks post op and I don't eat very much right now. I do pass gas after eating and after drinking protein. It's a relief to feel and it's natural. I find gas-x strips to be helpful but if that's not working for you there are other makers of anti-gas products. Just make sure whatever you get is a chewable or strip or liquid because once you've had surgery you're not going to absorb a pill or capsule the same way. You also don't want it to get stuck. And walking around helps because it boosts the circulation. Plus if you walk outside and have to fart it's gonna blow away in the wind LOL so long as nobody's behind you it'll be fine.
  12. May I ask if your mom is also overweight? If she is, she's probably jealous of your success at weight loss. If she's not, she's probably still jealous. Anybody who tells you "you look better heavier" or "I liked you better when you were fat," is not used to how you currently look and probably just isn't willing to accept the change even if it's a positive one. Don't let it discourage you, I bet you're happier now than you were before and certainly healthier I imagine.
  13. I think I'm gonna put my hair in twists or braids for a couple of months during the shedding phase. That way instead of coming out and going down my drain, it'll all just come out when I take the twists or braids out. My hairs very thick I think I'll be ok with some shedding, I just don't want it in clumps messing up my plumbing lol
  14. I don't think my doctor has a "puréed" stage now that I look at my paperwork. This week I was given a small list to eat from which included yogurt, eggs, cottage cheese, lentil and split pea soup. Next week I have a list that includes deli meats and cheeses, canned chicken and tuna, soft fish, well cooked beans/lentils/legumes, soft tofu, egg salad, and feta and ricotta cheeses, which I will eat for two weeks and as long as those foods go down well I move onto more stuff like ground meats and soft cooked veggies and non-fibrous/stringy fruits.
  15. I was only in the hospital for 2 days. I didn't get dressed or change clothes until I went home. I had packed sweats and pajamas and ended up not needing them at all. I packed my shower cap and headwrap as well as my face soap and lotion. They provided me a bag with shower gel, body lotion, a toothbrush and toothpaste and mouthwash. I had brought my own but didn't end up needing it. You should bring your own in case your hospital or surgery center isn't as accommodating. If you have to buy these things from the hospital convenience store it'll cost you triple. I went to the hospital in a hoodie and leggings and nikes. I left the hospital in a sweatsuit and flip flops. I took my phone and iPad and their charging cords. Just about everything else I needed was given to me.
  16. I don't know that my tastebuds are sharper but they're different. Drink I was able to enjoy pre op are absolutely intolerable post op. I had several unopened containers that I had to exchange because I just haven't been able to drink then without being completely put off. Isopure drinks have been going down the best. Hopefully I can start trying the other drinks a few weeks down the line n
  17. Thanks. So far I've had yogurt, scrambled egg, refried Beans, and string cheese. Everything has gone down well. Yogurt seems to be a "slider" food tho, so i won't be relying on it much for my meals and my doctor doesn't condone Snacks. It's s great Protein source but it didn't fill me up at all. I was drinking Premier Protein mostly. I also had Proteins from Cellucor (Red Velvet was my favorite, I haven't tried it post op) and also Syntrax Fuzzy Navel (haven't been able to tolerate it post op). I drank a lot of Iced Passion Tea from Starbucks and crystal light strawberry lemonade.
  18. Plain water hurts my stomach! It's so frustrating because I know how important it is to get down pure water. Once I've had my Protein I can sip down a few oz of plain water. But at any temperature, especially colder than room temp, it hurts so bad. Not that I don't think people here will help you, but my topic is pretty specific to post op tastes and you keep asking about your pre-op diet. Perhaps you should post a new topic in the pre op forum specific to your surgery so that you can get more answers. When your topic is in the right place, you've got a greater chance of people who can give you advice seeing it and giving good responses. Thanks and good luck.
  19. Lucky you only 5 days. I did liquids only for 14 days pre-op. I did very well. Kept myself busy, got rid of all the food from my fridge so I wouldn't be tempted. At times where I would normally be eating, I ran an errand or worked out. @@James Marusek Isopure diluted with a bit of Water has actually been the best for me to get down. I got a fresh Vitamin shoppe order about a week before surgery of my faves, which are no longer my faves, so I'm going to go exchange them for some isopure bottles today. @@MrsSugarbabe I just ordered some yesterday, my doctor's office gave me samples and I found them to be perfect. If I can get down a serving of that and a bottle of isopure a day, I will get my minimum 60g in, plus whatever else I get from the little amounts of food I will begin eating.
  20. My surgeon told me not to even bother because they don't have nearly the %s that the Multivitamins I should be taking do. They're good though, I was thinking of getting them just for liquid's sake but seemed kind of pricey just to drink it as a regular drink.
  21. So almost all of the Protein I was drinking pre-op is now absolutely disgusting to me post op. Go figure. So I've basically had to start all over with tasting drinks and finding what works. And everything has to be diluted at least 2:1 with Water for me to even be able to stomach it. Isopure seems to be going down the best. Alpine Punch was my staple but I ran out. Today I got single bottles of Apple Melon, Coconut and Mango Peach. I'll probably get a case or two of them and revisit my other shakes a few weeks or months down the line and hopefully I can start to tolerate them again. They're so expensive I'd surely hate to waste them or have to give them away. I can't return them since they've been opened.
  22. I was contacted by them on Monday saying I was approved and that they would be faxing RX documents to my surgeon and that my premier protein would also be covered. They didn't say how many and they also said my copay would be waived due to a special they were running this month. We'll see if anything shows up.
  23. I can't wait to get back to the gym. I hate not being able to workout the way I used to. I was making such awesome progress.
  24. @@laurenjane If at all possible, remove food from your house LOL. I dunno if you live alone or not, but that was the easiest way for me to get through it. I gave all my perishable food to my mom and put everything else away in the freezer and the canned stuff in the high shelf cabinet. Also, stay really busy. At times where you would normally be eating, go run an errand or go for a walk. The first few days are going to suck. Your energy will crash and you might be mildly cranky, but just keep thinking about why you're doing it. Also, if you have been buying Protein in variety, stop. Your taste buds are going to change after surgery. About 3 or 4 of the flavors I was loving pre-op i absolutely cannot STAND post op. sugar free Jello and popsicles are your very best friends. Stock up! Enjoy your last week of food (not too much) and feel free to contact me if you have other questions or if you just wanna bitch it out LOL. It is difficult but once you get used to it, it really isn't too terrible and it goes by fairly quickly.
  25. @@brightlife0305 Well a few days prior I had made it around a Target store with no problem. I think we just picked a bad day for costco, it was a lot more crowded than usual. Lesson learned.
