What to tell the children
My son was 10 when I started going to the bariatric center. I told him the truth. I explained that it wasn't healthy for me to be this weight and that I had tried to lose it on my own. I told him I had decided on WLS because I wanted to see him grow up, graduate college, get married and have kids. He seemed okay with. The only problem now is that I have to be strong because he is quite the enabler. He constantly is trying to sneak food to me that he knows I can't have.

Pureed Stage
I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and have been on pureed foods since week two. I also eat out of baby bowls. I supplement my protein with shakes. I usually have 4 oz of protein shake with each meal. I had 1/2 package of oatmeal for breakfast and 4 oz of protein shake. Then for lunch I had 1/4 cup of cottage cheese and 4 oz protein shake. Then for dinner I had a scrambled egg w/ cheese and 4 oz of protein shake. Sometimes I manage to reach 60 grams of protein, but I won't today. Only one more day then I get to have deli meat, fish and steamed veggies. I am having trouble with eating too fast and getting my water in. Its a lot of work to get the hang of this.

When will it get better?
I understand how you feel. I too have thoughts about reversing my surgery. I am 3 weeks post op. I still have a lot of pain in my left side. My doctor thinks its a pulled muscle. So I have to limit my activity and be very careful how I move around. I need to get back to my life. I have a family I need to be taking care of. Meal time has become a chore that I hate. I am so over pureed foods. People keep telling me to be patient and that it will get better. I just need to see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. I hope it gets better for the both of us. Good luck!

Water? Is it hard to get it down?
I am three weeks post op today. I really haven't been keeping track of my water. Yesterday was a really bad day. So, I decided I needed to really keep track of what I am doing. Needless to say, I am not getting enough water. Its almost 2:00 here and I have only had 15 oz. I don't know how I am going to get to 64 oz. without making myself sick. I should have been paying better attention.

Can't sleep
I have had horrible insomnia also. It started a week after I went home. I am so glad to understand why.

Two weeks and three days out. ...
Hi. I had my surgery two weeks and 4 days ago. I am having that type of pain on my left side. Over the past 5 days it has gotten better. People keep telling me to just give my body more time to heal. I keep reading about people going back to work after one week and they just jump right back into life. So then I freak out thinking what went wrong with me? I think each persons experience is going to be different. I don't know if I have helped you at all, but since our surgery dates were so close I thought I would let you know my experience. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon!

Frustrated and need to vent.....
I am 17 days post op and I know that I have just began my journey. To be blunt, this journey is starting to suck! I still am in pain from surgery and I can't get comfortable to sleep. I couldn't wait to start the pureed phase. I now seem to hate all food. Nothing sounds good. I can't stand cottage cheese, refried Beans, greek yogurt or eggs. I obviously wasn't that picky before the surgery or I wouldn't be in this situation. Every meal and sip of Water is a battle. I really don't have a question or a point to make. I just needed to vent to people who understand what I am going thru. Thanks for letting me rant.

Has weight loss/surgery turned me crazy?
I had surgery just a little over two weeks ago. I noticed the past 48 hours I just can't seem to relax and be content. I also noticed I was very impatient and snippy. My pouch is being difficult and gets all worked up when I eat or drink water. So, last night I decided to have watered down apple juice. OMG- that was the best darn apple juice water ever. I think my body needed the sugar from the juice. I felt so much better. Maybe this would help. Good luck!!

When will this get better?
Hello. I am new here.I had gastric bypass on January 12th, 2015. I have been miserable ever since then. I was sent home with a JP drain. I hurt all the time. I can't believe I volunteered for this. I don't want to come off rude, but I am too uncomfortable to make an effort. When/Does this get better? I know I need to focus on me, but I have a family who needs me. Thanks to anyone who helps. I appreciate it. Christina
