  1. What a wonderful story about courage, strength and the ability to never give up. I love how honest you were about everything. I know that's hard. I've been there and never wanted to admit I drank too much alcohol or had a love hate relationship with food and my body! I'm 53 and after preparing for the last 7 months my surgery is on the 18th. I also have very painful osteoarthritis in my knees in which I can't even walk across the parking lot! We can do this just like so many other people have!! Good luck!
  2. Finished my 6 months. Turned my paperwork to insurance, approved the next day. Surgery 3 weeks later. February 18
  3. Nothing is set in stone! You're young, don't pressure yourself
  4. I agree. I had to do the 6 month thing my insurance and at first I just had the attitude I'm just going to do this and get it over with. But about a month into it I really started to evaluate what I was doing to myself and that this surgery isn't a fix it is a necessary tool for me to be healthy and thin. The class was so helpful!! My surgery is on February 18 and so far I'm down 22lbs from the class and pre op diet. Start your pre op and you will probably lose some of your appetite for addicting foods such as In and Out. Good luck!
  5. I've told my mom and sister 's. They are just as excited for me as I am. My mom told me she would help anyway she could and take me shopping for new clothes when I was ready! She's 83 full of energy and loves to shop! My husband and kids know (18 & 20) and they are also very supportive. They've seen me struggle w joint pain especially knee arthritis. As far as work only my boss and one other person. When they ask I just tell the I'm having surgery to help my knee. Which is basically true.
  6. I plan on going back after a week also. Let me know how you do. Thx!
  7. Bless you and your family. This is a great support group!
  8. Pictures are awesome!! How happy you look in both pix!! Beautiful!
  9. Just concentrate on getting better. Put your energy into being the healthy, strong person you're meant to be. I'm surrounding you with love and healing.
  10. Good luck!! Keep us posted!
  11. Hi. Do you were thinking about going back to work already? I was hoping to go back after a week if all goes well
  12. Planning on having the sleeve w Dr Halpin in 2 weeks. It sounds like she is a good choice. Any more opinions or experience regarding her?
  13. Hi. I'm not sure you are still on the forum but I'm having the sleeve w Dr Halpin in a couple of weeks. Do you have any experience w her? Thx!
  14. Hi Eli. It's funny you mentioned the emotions at this point. Just today I was thinking to myself "what have I done"!?!? Do I really want to go through this? Maybe I'll just stick to the pre-op diet forever! But I soon snapped out of it and am excited again for surgery!
  15. Yea!!!!! Lol! It's a great feeling, isn't it? We are one step closer baby!!! Congratulations!!!
  16. BloomingLotus you are not alone. We will get through this together! My surgery is February 18. Eli you are such a great support and have such a tender caring way about you! Thank you both!

  19. Hello! I'm going to chime in! I have been reading posts for weeks now and really enjoy them. I finished my 6 months for my insurance and already approved for surgery. I'm having it in February 18th. So excited I can hardly stand it! I'm 52 (that is so hard to believe) and I love that there's a forum for us. Good luck to everyone!
  20. Hi I was told it would be a couple of weeks for approval and I was approved the next day. Don't worry your hard work over the last couple of months will pay off.
  21. I'm sorry about your bday! I guess some husbands are like that. Did your kids remember? Well Happy Birthday!!! Here's to one of the best years of your life! Maybe after your surgery you'll be able to kick him in the ass! Then maybe he'll remember!
  22. I hope you bought that dress! You look great!
  23. Hello! Mine is the 18th! Great way to start the new year! I started my journey about 7 months ago. Just finished my 6 months worth of classes on Monday and was approved by insurance on Tuesday! Good luck to us all!
