  3. During my pre op I did shakes with 1/2 a banana ( was allowed just one a day with banana) and peanut butter. That seemed to help
  4. No hunger pangs but I do get the craving for certain foods. I am 6 weeks out. Still dipping my toes in the solid food, don't like the stuck feeling or the feeling of being too full. Have a great day!

  6. I was hoping the WLS would help with the diverticulitis but I guess not for me . Yes I have been on antibiotics for a week and a half and no relief. Doc says she may put me in hospital for IV antibiotics I sure hope not!!

  9. My NUT told me two things 1. Sugar IS THE EMEMY 2.Carbonation will not be your friend for sometime. It causes a lot of uncomfortable gas and makes you feel very ill. I haven't had a beer in 20 yrs. or a soda for a yr before surgery. But like other posters said check with NUT and Surgeon. Wish I would even think about eating pizza.
  10. Would love to stay in touch! I don't know if you do Facebook but there are groups on there that are great with support and just plain old down to earth ppl. I am in 2 Weight Loss Surgery and Beyond, Sleeve Gastrectomy Support Group. Have you had to do the 6months-1yr insurance approval process? I know for me it help having a NUT for 6 months wish I could have her for another 6 months now that I have had surgery. Anyway have a great week and keep your head up! We CAN and WILL do this!

  20. Thanks jeanniereenie, I really needed this today! I have "gym jitters" also, not only that I have issues with crowds! So I tend to stay away from the gym when I know I should be "living" there!
  21. I agree with all of the other replies! My NUT had me write a "Goodbye" letter to my favorite/emotional foods. 6 weeks out and have had a difficult time with some of my emotions but I did not fall back to the food. Just my little input Take care!
  22. I use Viactiv Calcium chews and my surgeon suggested taking a Bariatric chewable vitamin.
  23. Hello, Jay05 I am six weeks post op and this is some of the things that have helped me with prep. I would like to suggest that you do some deep soul searching. Ask yourself what is the REAL reason for the WLS, Am I willing to make this lifestyle change for LIFE,(because it is for LIFE) Do I have a strong support system, Am I willing to do the pre op work now? You can even write down your answers. By the way, this is not just about losing the weight/getting healthier it is changing your mindset towards food! I tell you that is the hardest part for me I struggle the most with emotional eating so yeah it is hard work! Now, are you willing to challenge yourself right now? If so, challenge yourself to give up one favorite food or sugary drink for one day. Get thru that day and continue that one day at a time. For me, I started by giving up chips (I'm a BIG chip head) before I knew it I didn't what them anymore! Do I still crave them from time to time? YES I DO! But as long as I don't put them in my mouth I know I will be OK. Also since you are getting close to your surgery date start drinking one Protein shake for Breakfast daily (just the shake if you like you can add fruit to it) My NUT had me do this to get me ready for the 2 week pre op diet. Not everybody has to do the 2 week pre op diet. You may not have too. But the Protein shakes help with the liver shrinkage. I hope this helps some! Take care and looking forward to seeing on the losing side!
  24. Hello everyone! Have not been around in a while. I am 6 weeks post op and have been dealing with Diverticulitis for about 2 weeks now ! When I have a flare up it stops me from be active and this is no time for that! I have no idea what triggered the flare up but it is rough. DOES ANYONE ELSE SUFFER FROM THIS? And if so, what do you do? Really need some suggestions! Oh yeah, when is it cool to start drinking with a straw?? Thanks in advance. Keep your heads up, we can do this!
  25. That Panera dish is so high in sodium, which is not good at least that is what my NUT told me. She told me to watch out for sugar, fat, sodium and carb count
  26. @ Inner surfer girl, have you tried any of the other ProtiDiet products? If so which are your favorites?

  28. I thought it was just me and a part of the healing process since I was sleeved 12 days ago! Very uncomfortable. I guess this will teach me to sit up straighter while eating! LOL. Have a great day!
  29. The day I was scheduled for my VSG a good friend of mine called me. When she called I was waiting to be taken into the OR. Her words to me were, " I 'm praying for you and I hope this surgery helps you feel better about yourself". I was hurt that she would say that to me. I don't know where she got the idea that I didn't feel good about myself. Yes, I was down and depressed because of my weight and the health problems, but I never really felt bad about myself. Another has started calling me "skinny mini" I don't like it but I don't know how to get her to stop. Anyway I'm just venting and feeling some kind of way today. Have a great week and we can do this!
