Dec 30 rny and still in pain?
Newlifeb, I also had bypass on 12/30! I'm still having some pain in that incision as well, but it didn't sound as bad as yours. I over did it on Saturday around the house so yesterday I found that if I hold into that incision when I sit, lean, get up, that it helps. It was stressed to me before hand that the incision on the left is where the doctor sews up everything Very tight. There's a lot of work right inside there. Try and take it easy. Yes we do have to get up and move, but we also just had major surgery. I hope your pain ends soon, or at least gets better very soon:-)

How much protein/sugar to eat
Just seen my typo. Sorry! My plan wants me to eat 5 to 6 meals a day. Less than 10 fats, less than 10 sugars, more than 10 proteins. Following that I'll get more than the 60 protein a day which is recommended. Hope this helps :-)

How much protein/sugar to eat
I found that I have to add a clear tasteless protein powder to really everything that is to be considered a meal. I'm really liking injury right now. I just drank sugar free fast free chocolate pudding thinned way down with my unflavored unjury in it. It was great!

How is everyone the 1st night after surgery?
I couldn't hardly stay awake. I could hardly carry a full conversation. I knew my family was there but I couldn't keep myself from sleeping. Talking made me exhausted. I didn't feel like much until the next day in the afternoon. Even that was minimal. I went home after 2 nights in the hospital. I've progressed much better being home. Surgery was Tuesday. It's Saturday. I've done dishes, folded laundry. Make my own "food". Every day will get better for you.

Bypass Surgery tomorrow 12/30/14
Thank you @@foevlo . Good luck and best wishes on your journey. A year? That stinks. But think of everything you can accomplish in that year. It will be here before you know it. I'm doing much better now with recovery. Being home really helped me:-) Keep us posted!

Actual surgical procedure question
My lowest incision is above my belly button. I already had 1 under my belly button from my gallbladder being removed. I had 3 c sections. Only with my last one did they tape up my big flabby belly :-) it was soo embarrassing for me! I think with this surgery though, they will "blow up" your stomach with gas. No need for taping, pretty sure.

Cleaning out my closet
I just had surgery. I'm not even a week yet, but I am soo looking forward to cleaning out my closet. I did have a hard time getting rid of maternity clothes. I still have 1 of my favorite prego shirts hanging in my closet. My last baby is 6 yrs old! Lol. But it will go along with my "fat" clothes as soon as I can. Can't wait!! :-)

UHC Choice Plus - HSA (MO) - Perplexed - no requirements?
I have uhc in Ohio through my husband's employer. I had surgery 12/30/14. I did the weight loss program through Ohio Health. Uhc immediately sent approval to Ohio health. All I had to do was complete my programs requirements, which was do a minimum of 3 dietician appts, sleep studies, specialists visits etc. I entered the program in August 2014. I did lose 25 lbs following dietician instruction post op. But was not required to by insurance or Ohio health. But once you enter a program they should send off all paperwork to uhc and then you and your program will get a paper of coverage. It was that easy with mine. But from what I hear my uhc is abnormal compared to other insurance companies. Good luck!!

Bypass Surgery tomorrow 12/30/14
Thank you MaryL 83. I wouldn't be surprised if most people don't have a rough start. I increasingly felt better through the day yesterday. Slept pretty good last night. Feels good to get my clear liquids in this morning. I'm hoping for a bright new future :-)

Bypass Surgery tomorrow 12/30/14
First, thank you for the prayers and thoughts sent my way! I appreciate it a lot. This is the first time I've picked up my phone since surgery. Yesterday was rough. I wished I hadn't done surgery. This morning I threw up twice. Little amounts, mostly stomach acid. Spent the morning thinking I would better be if I was dead. But I started drinking little sips of water. Got ahead of the pain and nausea. Feeling much better now. Looking forward to having clear liquid in the morning. Possible release tomorrow. I'm burping some. Hiccups are frequent, but I guess normal. So there's my update. Thanks all!

Bypass Surgery tomorrow 12/30/14
Tomorrow is the big day. 16 hours away!! Only my immediate family and my best friend know about this. I'm feeling nervous. A bit overwhelmed by the bad what if's. My doctor is at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, OH. His name is Dr. Sonnanstine. He seems like a great surgeon. His staff just loves him. I can tell it's not fake. Biggest fear with surgery is death, next to that I'd say diminished quality of life. I have 3 daughter's who mean the world to me. I'm doing this not just for me. It's for my family too. With high bp, dislocated disc and knee pain, I feel this is my last resort after many unsuccessful attempts to lose weight, including being put on weight watchers at 8 years old! Please say prayers for me. Prayers for peacefulness and rest. Prayers for the medical staff. Prayers for my family. Thanks all! Jamie
