  1. I had to have a port revision this week due to my port flipping over. It's been 6 days and the side of my stomach where my port is located is swollen and extremely tender and the surgical site is itching. My dr told me I could go back to work the next day after the surgery but I have been in so much pain I haven't been back yet. Not sure if what's happening is normal. I don't remember this much pain when the band/ port was initially placed. My surgeon is 3 hours away so I can't just run by is office and have him have a look at it. I do plan to call him tomorrow but I guess I'm just wanting a little reassurance that what is happening is normal... Any thoughts??
  2. Thank you for responding. I'm starting to get concerned. Every day I wake up expecting to be better, but I'm just not getting there. It's getting frustrating. Again, thank you for the advice....

Where do the Veterans go ?

I have read several of your posts,B-52, and you are so inspiring! You have made me see what I need to work toward. Your advice is awesome! Please don't take that encouragement away from us that listen because of some negative people! Your story is an inspiration to me and so many others!
  4. Wow , bayougirl! Your story brought tears to my eyes! That person you were taking about is me! That's exactly how I feel. Thank you so much for the encouragement!

    February 2015 Bandsters --ANYONE?!?

I was banded on January 21, 2015. I'm really happy with my band but still struggling to get to the green zone. I've lost around 30 lbs but most of it was preop diet. Since then my loss has been really slow. The positive points though are that I eat much healthier than I did before and avoid a lot of unhealthy foods. I'm anxious to get to the green zone so my weight loss will hopefully become more steady. And, btw, you do look great!

    I want more

I feel that I am in the exact same situation you are. Got my band in January , have had 2 fills, and unless I eat too fast or take too big of bites, I don't even know it's there. I make much better choices than I did, and eat less than before, but I have to make myself. I still feel hungry all the time. It feels like the band is not helping me much at all. I'm hoping this next fill will do the trick and I'll start losing weight.

7 days post band and bad reflux

You must transition back to solid food! I couldn't imagine trying to eat solid food 1 week post op. Eat very soft food for now until you have time to heal.

    feeling dissapointed.

I've had 1 fill and have very little restriction if any at all. I can eat pretty much anything I want without any problems. I am maintaining my weight and losing a few pounds very slowly. I know the best is yet to come. Getting in the green zone will make a world of difference!

    Hormones?

    Hormones?

Ok,all you ladies out there. Maybe you can help me out. I'm 3 1/2 weeks out from surgery, and all of a sudden everything I eat no matter how soft, feels like it has trouble going through. I could hardly eat anything yesterday. This morning I'm eating some scrambled eggs and every bite is painful. I remember reading somewhere that hormone fluctuations can cause this to happen. I'm just hoping that's what it is and nothing is wrong with my band! Thanks in advance for your input!

    Hormones?

How long does it usually last? I can't eat even yogurt or pudding without feeling like it can hardly go through. Then it feels very uncomfortable for quite a while after. I go for my first feel in 2 weeks. I hope I'm back to normal by then..

    Port pain

I agree! I'm almost 2 weeks post op and it feels like a torn muscle if I bend over or put any tension on my right side. I'd say whatever you are experiencing is probably completely normal.
  13. Ok, I'm 5 days post op. I've been feeling pretty good. The soreness had eased up and the gas pains were pretty well gone. Then, this evening, all of a sudden my left upper side started cramping up and feeling like I'm having muscle spasms inside. Could my stomach be spasming?? It gets real intense for a few seconds then let's up. It happens every couple minutes. I'm getting kind of scared. It's been going on for a couple hours now. My follow up appt isn't until Thursday and my dr is 3 hours away. Anybody have an idea what's going on??

    What's going on?

Thanks you all for your concern! I feel better now, although I still feel a sharp pain on my upper left side when I take a deep breath. I've also started having muscle spasms in my back on the left side.I'm thinking maybe I pulled the muscles overdoing it yesterday. I didn't do a lot, just some laundry and minor house cleaning. What worried me so much last night is that I was sitting in a recliner real still but when I took a sip of water the cramp would hit, and it got pretty intense. Since its better now I'm going to try to wait it out until my appt thursday. If it happens again tonight I'm definitely calling the doc tomorrow.

    What's going on?

Another thing, if i take a deep breath, I have a sharp pain from my stomach to my shoulder.

    Is it just me....

I total agree with all of you! I read the positive stories and I feel so excited about what's to come for me. Then, as I sit here, 5 days post op and read a post about the band triggering autoimmune diseases and I'm like wtf?? Everybody has a different experience with the band and I hope and pray that I am one of those people with a success story. Best of luck to you all, and props to all the positive bandsters out there handing out encouragement! Us new bandsters are in desperate need of it!
  17. Wow! Sounds like quite an ordeal you went through. I've had several gall bladder attacks and they are extremely painful. My dr took out my gall bladder the same day I had my lap band put in. I've never heard or read not to eat much protein when you don't have a gall bladder. I've known several people that have had their gall bladder removed and do low carb high protein diets. My husband is one of them. I wouldn't get too worried about it until you look into it further. It's something I am definitely going to ask my doc about at my checkup this week.

    Gas in my chest

It will definitely get better! On my 4th day post op, most of my gas pain finally went away. Now, it's just occassionally that I get what feels like a bubble in my chest. Hang in there, those first few days are pretty rough.

    I am 4 Years today

Thanks for the encouragment! My surgery is tomorrow and I'm getting at that point where I'm starting to wonder what I got myself into! Lol I know in the long run I am going to be so much happier. And, congratulations on your success!

    Emotional!

My surgery date is January 21st! I started my 7 day liquid diet today. It's starting to get real now that I will be having this surgery in 1 week! I am super nervous about all the changes that will be taking place. I'm married and have 3 children so changing my eating habits will be difficult because they will all want to eat what they are use to. I just try to concentrate on what I want the end result to be and how I'll feel when I get there. All this hard work and sacrifice will be so worth it! Best of luck to you and just think of how fantastic you are going to feel!

    My Journey

I don't know if you've had a fill yet , but my dr told me that a cough can signal the band being too tight. I haven't had my surgery yet (11 days to go!), but I remember this being mentioned at my preop consult.

Need Something Crunchy To Replace Chips?

I saw a recipe on pinterest that is sliced zucchini sprinkled with shredded parmesan cheese and baked. I haven't tried them yet but they looked really good! Look like they might be good for dipping...
