  1. Congrats on being sleeved. I'm assuming you've been up for a walk. Did the walking help your gas pain? how are you feeling this afternoon?
  2. I finally got a copy of my blood work. My vit d is at 5... my pcp nor surgeon has told me to do anything... im going to start taking my multi & other vits tomorrow.
  3. My Mom and I have been talking about this for years. She was against me having it.. then she seen how much I was struggling and at the same time she saw her coworker drop weight and look healthy. my mom is now on board. My husband doesn't want me to have the surgery, but is supporting me. He drove me to my EGD today. My brother knows. I told my Aunt and after her reaction. I will not be telling anyone else until after the surgery.
  4. I was told I should weight 109. And he said 125 was good. I still can't comprehend 109. That just seems way to small.
  5. You are lucky! ...my throat still hurts and now I have a headache But it's all worth it... and now I wait for approval from my insurance
  6. BloomingLotus I know the feeling. Once in labor a nurse stabbed me 5 times! finally another nurse took over after that. I now get nervous every time I get an iv. Did you're throat hurt after? If so how long did it hurt? O.m.g. that stuff they make your gargle is horrible! I didnt realize I'd lay on my side for this procedure.
  7. Thanks Pepper and ejd. everything went well. Found out I do have a hernia and that will be repaired when I have my sleeve.
  8. I'm sitting here waiting to have my EGD. This is my last requirement from my doctor. Hopefully I will hear soon on approval. I'm scheduled for 8am. Getting prepped only to 33mins. The staff is very friendly. The nurse that checked me in, had my mom's name. .that made me smile. I'll update later.
  9. Thank you Sharon. I've been trying to educate myself. Unfortunately I can't get a staight answer from my insurance or the insurance coordinator at Dr. Office... im at a wait and see kind of deal.. maybe there is no out of pocket, maybe that's why money hasn't been discussed.... I'm good with no out of pocket! ???? I appreciate the reply Sharon 1964
  10. Hi Cindy! I'm from Northern Michigan. Names Ahna. Did you have the surgery?
  11. Updates please.. .Did you finally get to have the surgery?
  12. Hi Rachel, were you able to set up any group meetings? I'm just curious, I couldn't make any, I live in Northern Michigan. Nice to see someone from MI
  13. @@juhneefurr was the six months waved for you?
  14. Hello Michiganders!! There's not much activity in this group.. but I thought I'd add. I haven't been sleeved yet. I am seeing Dr, Kam in Traverse City MI. I'm 5ft 227 and range from size 16-20. Can't wait to be in the single digits. In good health other than being morbidly obese. Anyone active on here currently in the "process" to have surgery? Or already had surgery? Whose your Dr? How is everything going? Insurance? Out of pocket expense? How much weight you've lost? Maintaining? Anyone want to share? I'm going to keep posting here.. Hopefully my experience will be helpful to someone. Get some people talking or maybe entertaining that I'm talking to myself. I also post update in my profile "about me: section.. If you are looking for any details..
  15. I haven't been sleeved yet, I have Dr. Kam, with Grand Traverse Surgery. I've noticed on this site MI people don't really like sharing. lol I've come across like 10 or so post from Michiganders. This post is so old. I wonder how all of you are doing now.
  16. Congrats! that's awesome news! how exciting! Just think its only two weeks, you can do it. Its so going to be wroth it!
  17. @@Aranks now I'm finding really weird that no cost were brought up at the consult. Maybe I don't have any??? haha I'm dreaming! I wish I were that lucky When I was leaving I went to pay my copay.. but they said I didn't need to. that my dual coverage paid for it. You'd think money would be mentioned .Seeing how he said this is his job, he gets paid to do this. My coworker went to a different surgeon's office and their program has a non refundable $250 for consult. I had nothing like that. I've already done all the research with my insurance. My hospital is a blue distinction center so that cuts the cost. I have an idea but an actually out of pocket has not been motioned. I'm guessing around $350. two nights and surgeon. I'm just going to wait and see. I can handle a few hundred in fees, but if its more than that. I'll have to wait until I saved up enough money or see if I can get on their payment plan.
  18. @@Aranks, I did ask the insurance person at the surgeon's office a couple times.. she was no help at all
  19. food doesn't love you, it doesn't even know you. Its the memory/affection/approval associated with the food that you're seeking... And that was exactly what I needed to hear to make this change. I can't wait to "give up" foods. I've already given up pop, sugary dinks unhealthy snacking & candy... I don't miss it..... I don't know what my body will tolerate after and I'm kind of excited to see if I get new tastes for healthier things... I did have that feeling at first, I had 1 farewell dinner, then I realized this isn't the last time I'll eat this.. It might take me a year to eat it again, but by then.. I might not even want it. @@SuperDave, Luv this!! "what was more important to me, food, or literally everything else in life." **clapping** truth!
