  1. I tried to think of a catchy title for this question but as you noticed, I failed miserably. Does anyone have any advice on moving from crushing all my medicine to taking it whole (normally) again? Thanks. I'm 9 weeks out. For me, the worse part of this journey has been the awful taste of my medicines.
  2. Hi. Good morning to all you weight-loss winners! Happy Thanksgiving. This is my first Thanksgiving post-op. I'm simply amazed that I'm not even craving the ridiculous stuffing I've done in years past; stuffing all that food in my mouth, to be exact. Ha ha ha I am just shy of 8 weeks post-op. Everything has been near perfect so far. The hardest thing for me, to this point, is having to crush all the medicine I'm still taking. I take 4 different BP meds & sleeping medication. It all tastes nasty and it's the only reason I've almost blown chunks. I'm mixing with applesauce, yogurt and have even tried adding Splenda. My surgeon has told me I have to wait 3 months before taking my medicine whole, or normally, again. Has anyone begun taking any medications normally sooner than 3 months post-op? Any complications from doing that? Thanks a bunch for any advice, replies, or suggestions. Happy Holidays to all!
  3. Hello all and Happy Holidays! I am 9 weeks post-op and still experiencing constipation in a bad way. Part is due to percocet I use for chronic knee pain; the other part due to the surgery itself, I think. Does anyone use Metamucil and if so, any hints or tricks on how to consume it? Can I drink it quickly?

What is the best unflavored protein?

I love IsoPure. It's one of the more expensive brands but I think well worth it. I would recommend trying Amazon for it. Best of luck on the journey ahead.
  5. Hi folks. Hope everyone had a happy, successful holiday. I just had a couple slices of turkey and a spoonful of au-gratin potatoes. I was completely satisfied and full. Simply amazing! October 3 surgery date and 64 lbs gone! Here's the tip: I was having difficulty taking all my medicine crushed. I used both yogurt and applesauce to mask the flavor of the different BP meds, the Ursodiol, the Iron pill, etc. The medicine would always leave a terrible taste in my mouth & it would last for an hour or more. Then I discovered Popsicle pops again (loved 'em as a kid). Only diffence is, I'm buying them sugar-free now. These really do the trick to get rid of the medicine aftertaste. Try it. No calories, no sodium, no fat, and of course, no carbs. They also are an easy, awesome way to help keep you hydrated. You can have as many as you want, as often as you want. Enjoy!
  6. Sorry, but I find this post in very bad taste. Such as in the taste of McDonald's burgers now and maple syrup more like drizzling turpentine. Laughing all the way to my 4oz chicken breast. Ha ha ha!

    I'm needing some encouragement...help

Teatime4me, Hello. I wanted to offer some encouragement. I have found in my own experiences that things are never as dark as our minds make us think. Strenthen your mind and you'll find the willpower to push on. A neat trick is to write yourself positive notes and post them around your home. Post things like "I'm ok", "It's not as bad as I think", "It gets better, a minute at a time". Imagine thoughts that make you feel good about yourself. Write them down and tack them above the headboard on your bed, tape them to the bathroom mirror, put them under a magnet on the fridge. You stated you have a wonderful husband. Remind yourself of that by making that one of the notes you place around the home. I've even taped encouragements on the rearview mirror of my car. I hope this helps. Hang in there, as the saying goes. It almost always gets better. Trust that it will.
