  1. Already have reached half of my goals after 3 months post op. My biggest achievement was playing on the playground with the kids (all the kids) while other parents watched from the benches and going down the sliding board My daughter (oldest) says "why didn't you ever do that with me?" Broke my heart but I'm doing it now and that's all that matters. I'm willing to be in front of the camera instead of behind the camera now. I can come home from work and have enough energy to roll around on the floor with the kids AND make dinner. I love this person I've become. I hugged the crap out of my surgeon on Friday!
  2. what's a slider? I've never asked. You're the lucky person who gets to tell me It is also one of those strange food that reacts differently to the point of no restriction. It's ice cream for me. My husbands slider food is corn chips. I have no idea why it happens but during your journey you will find one or two foods that you seem to be able to eat so much more than other foods and yes it's never a great food with lot's of Protein I can't eat ice cream! It's the weirdest thing. It gets stuck and hurts. I'm lactose intolerant and shouldn't be eating it anyway so I'm kind of glad I can't. But things with the same consistency I have no problem with. Strange.
  3. my friend had a tummy tuck after a c-section with twins. She said it was the most painful thing she's ever experienced. Also, 10k and 7 years later, she's pregnant. Doh!
  4. Oh I assumed it was something that went down easy lol

    Post-op day 2 and regretting

ohhhh you WILL feel better. I posted the same thing immediately post op. I felt AWFUL. The pain was horrendous for me and I couldn't drink either. I'm 3 months out and this was the best decision I've ever made for myself. I'm down 60 pounds and off my blood pressure meds since week 8. Hang in there, kiddo.

    carbs

I was sleeved on 4/8/15 and moving on to normal diet today (well, starting tomorrow). What is everyone's idea of a carb limit? I am basically living off less than 20 per day at this point. I don't plan on going overboard but I definitely am more concious of reading labels and watching what I put in my mouth now. I guess I just want to know what is a safe carb goal to keep me losing? I don't see NUT for another 10 days and I can't find it in my paperwork anywhere.

    My biggest fear with VSG

It's normal to worry. I did to the point of almost canceling that morning. I was literally in a hospital bed crying to my mom and husband that I was making a bad decision. I'm glad they gave me the drugs when they did or I might be sitting here still 55 pounds heavier. It's cold feet and you'll be fine. It's hard work but worth it. Nothing is an easy or quick fix. If it were easy this site wouldn't exist. We're here for support. Get your head in the game! You're going to be thrilled. I promise. I haven't smiled this much in 5 years.
  11. My 25-ouncer bariatric advantage shaker bottle. Poor thing is a hot mess. Need a new one. Oh, and my Fitbit Zip

    I'm 21 and freaking out!

Maybe you're not ready. Alcohol was never an issue for me except for tailgating at DMB shows every summer and let me say, after spending a weekend tailgating with 300+ DMB fans, I did great. Had one sip of a drink and decided it wasn't worth it. Your feelings mat change post op. Much like most of us no longer want fast food or junk or even soda. (I was a HUGE diet coke junkie). If you're that concerned about your ability to stay sober at a party to reach your weight loss goals than maybe you should postpone until after graduation

    My biggest fear with VSG

Let me ask you this... can you lose 40 on your own and keep it off? I could lose 40 pounds no problem. But I'd gain back 60 within 6 months. I'm 12 weeks out from surgery and down 55 pounds. I was taken off blood pressure meds a month ago and I feel AMAZING. I'm never ever going back. I was given thus gift and I plan on taking full advantage of it. Even if I never lost another pound I'd still be thrilled. This was by far the best decision I've ever made for myself.

    Calorie intake?

I'm 3 months out and still only getting about 700 a day. Doc says to follow protein and carbs, not calories. Well, my doc says that. Check with yours. I'm down 55 pounds in 12 weeks so he must know something
  16. I made my own which cut down on the carbs (it was still a lot) but I didn't like how it sat in my stomach. Heavy. I think I started eating them around 6 weeks post op but after that batch was gone I haven't eaten another. I'd rather have meat.

    Fitbit

I love my fitbit! It's also a great reminder to get moving each day. The workweek hustle with friends is a great motivator.

    Tiredness and Regret

I had awful fatigue 3 weeks out. Exercise? Please. I didn't even feel like walking to the bathroom. Right around week 5 all my energy plus some came back. I started hitting the gym hard and had even MORE energy. You'll get there. Just hang in.

    The easy way out? Bullcrap!

I agree Essence! It's hard work. Thankfully no one has said anything negative to me about the surgery. (Not to my face, anyway). I have never worked so hard at the gym as I do since my surgery. I'm only down 45 pounds since 4/8 but I've never been so happy. And my husband can't keep his hands off me
  20. All I'm going to say is it's NEVER too late to get your life back.

    Scheduled June 29

I agree with above. Plan NOW. You absolutely cannot pick up kids for at least two weeks. Actually it's 4 weeks but being a mom that won't happen. I stayed with my mom for the first three days after discharge so that I wouldn't be tempted to pick up my kids. They're 4 and 2. After about 10 days I only lifted the little one to put him in bed.
  22. sorry but what's a panni?
  23. exactly. Give the sleeve a chance. Why are you thinking about pills already? I'm glad I'll never have to do a fad diet again!
