Popcorn
interesting. I find that it a little bit stuffs me and I stay with that full feeling a long time, it is not a slider food for me. but it will not be a regular snack either because of the stuffed feeling after just a little bit. Well, you are only a couple of months outside of surgery. Wet popcorn in your mouth and see how it dissolves. In the future you will be able to eat a good deal more than you can now and that's when it will be a problem.

Article about Biggest Loser Ali Vincent
Saw it on FB and I commented that she needs weight loss surgery and not Weight Watchers. People came out of the woodwork to attack me with the standard misinformed and ignorant crap about the surgeries. I'm really despising Oprah and how she is fooling people for profit. She isn't in control of herself and needs the surgery too.

Anything I should know?
No pain. Just felt like I was punched in the stomach, so very tolerable. The only true pain I felt was when they removed the drain, and that was a whopper! My whole abdomen cramped up something fierce but it only lasted for a few seconds. Absolutely no gas pains at all. I was so freaking worried about it as so many people seemed to imply it was a standard.

Popcorn
Popcorn is a slider food so it should be avoided. It has no nutritional value and is just empty carbs. You need to be very careful with popcorn, chips, crackers, etc., as they produce almost no restriction, meaning you can end up eating a ton of it. Too many carbs will sabotage your weight loss. I speak from experience. To my horror I allowed myself to eat popcorn at the movies and even though I was just a few months out from surgery I was able to eat almost an entire large tub of popcorn.

The Great Arse Face Experiment (Or - Does Haemorrhoid Cream really help with your turkey neck?)
I don't think the cream even works for what is meant for. My friend keeps telling me to use retin a on my neck but I keep telling him that it won't work. There are neck exercises you can try but honestly, once you stretch skin out the only way to fix it is through plastic surgery.

Having some trouble...
I don't drink Isopure. I think it tastes nasty. I use Protein shakes to get my require protein in. I do 2 shakes a day, breakfast and lunch, and then eat a normal meal for dinner. Occasional snack every now and then but nothing habitual. As far as I'm concerned any liquid ingested counts toward your Water goal. If you eat Soups or broth you can also count that as well.

Severe lower back pain
The best thing for back pain is to walk and move around. I know it hurts but trust me, it's the only way. It's common to experience back pain when either losing weight or gaining weight. Your body is adjusting to the new changes.

1 yr Surgiversary
Congrats! You have come a long way and should be proud of your accomplishment! My one year surgiversary is coming up on May 12. I won't be at goal but I have come so very far!

Estimated post-op weight loss chart
Not accurate for me. I lost over a 100 lbs in the first 6 months.

Depressed & Can't meet H20/Protein goals
You don't have to mix Protein shakes with milk. You can use Water. Remember any liquids you drink count as water intake. So just three Protein Shakes will give you a minimum of 24 oz right then and there.

Will I like the new me?!
For women, one of the things they notice is to be able to cross their legs. I know this because even though I am a guy I used to always joke about as a man sitting European-style, which I can now do. When I was huge I tried and almost tore my leg out of my socket. I would love to be able to get back to how I was about age 17. I was so freaking flexible. I exceeded almost everyone in my gym classes They always did this test in gym where you sit one the ground with your feet flat against a wall. The goal is to reach forward and plant both palms on the wall. Most people can't do this. If you can do it you are exceptionally flexible. I was always the only one in my class who could do it. I'm going to keep working until I can do it agian. lol

Insurance will not cover
Same here. Went to Tijuana. Had a great experience. No complications and practically no pain. Would do it again in a heart beat.

Carbs
It depends upon what stage you are in. At goal you can increase your carbs slowly to maintain your weight. During the active weight loss phase you should eat as little carbs as possible with the emphasis on Protein. For my pre-op diet I was allowed up to 25 grams of carbs a day but I likely didn't even come close to that as I was very careful not to eat carbs.

Will I like the new me?!
You will likely need time to get to know the real you. The weight before acted to repress you and so you may have never met the real you before. You will probably be a mixture of delighted and disgusted with the real you, so just keep that in mind.

Ready to cry
To me it sounds like anxiety hunger. Like many of us, you probably turn to food for comfort and now you can't and so it's making it a bit worse. Just be strong. You will get through it.

How long did you sleep on your back?
I sleep on my side. In the hospital I was forced to sleep on my back but as soon as I got home I returned to sleep on my side. No pain for me.

Can we add a little fruit to our protein shakes?
You can try bananas. Now, I wasn't allowed fruit once I got to normal food. It has too much sugar in it.

All about you!
When you lose, yes. However, some people get depressed or were already suffering from depression before the surgery. If you follow the program then most people get a boost in confidence when they see the weight falling off.

Leading up to my death?
Many years ago a co-worker of mine had gastric bypass. She was going to be out of the office for several weeks. About 2 weeks after her surgery we were notified she passed away. She developed a serious infection and did not notify her doctor or even go to the ER until it was too late. The last time I saw her was literally her last day at work. She was extremely excited and bubbly and was even jumping up and down at one point just thinking about how this would change her life. It was very sad.

Samples?
Most places don't offer free samples anymore. However, you are free to contact companies directly and ask. Many companies now sell individual packets you can try that are far cheaper than buying the larger containers.

Plastic Surgery! How Long Should I Wait?
I haven't looked into prices yet. I'm about to start. I know my insurance company doesn't cover plastic surgery, so I've been taking my time since I'll be paying out of pocket. Prices do range very widely. I encourage you not to make a decision entirely just on price, because plastics is really NOT an area where you want to skimp. I don't know how you feel about traveling for plastics, but there are EXCELLENT options in Mexico for very reasonable prices with incredibly skilled surgeons. There are also specific areas of the US where some surgeons offer very competitive pricing, but still have excellent results. I went to Mexico for my plastics (tummy tuck and breast lift with augmentation) and will be going back for a thigh lift in September. Originally I started looking into Mexico purely for the cost savings (it's about 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of the US), but I actually realized that going to Mexico gave me much more control over my decision. Where I live in the US, there are only about three practicing plastic surgeons who could/would do the kind of work I needed. That's not a whole lot to choose from. By being open to the idea of traveling, I really had my pick of surgeons. I also learned about the much better aftercare provided with medical tourism. If you have plastics in the US, you are discharged back to your house to fend for yourself the day after surgery or, in some cases, even the day OF surgery. Most surgeons abroad are affiliated with recovery houses or aftercare facilities where you can receive 24/7 support and assistance for days and even weeks post-op. So ultimately, even if surgery in Mexico cost exactly the same as it does in my home town, I would choose to travel for my plastics. My experience with my first round of plastics was so great. I can't imagine what it would have been like if I had been here in the US and I had to fend for myself or my husband had to take off of work to try to care for me. I was helpless as a newborn those first couple of days after my tummy tuck. Literally couldn't even use the bathroom myself! I went to Tijuana for my sleeve. However, I am currently too scared to even consider going there for plastics due to the thought of traveling while in so much pain. So how was your experience coming home? What was the plane trip like?

Plastic Surgery! How Long Should I Wait?
I went to one surgeon who told me that I needed to be within 15 lbs of my goal weight before he would even consider doing skin removal. I'm going to do better and go below goal by maybe 5 lbs.

I can't decide
I went to Tijuana. My experience was great. I would do it again in a heart beat. No complications. The real pain from the surgery. Just felt like I was punched in the stomach. Taking the drain out two days later was the most painful experience.

I'm freaking out now
A lot of it depends on how health you are going in to surgery. The sleeve has the least complications. You will likely be fine.

Hair loss!
Cut your hair short. This will minimize your noticing hair shedding when you wash your hair. Otherwise, nothing will really help. I don't even think Biotin helps because hair shedding for bariatric patients is caused by hormones and the stress of losing weight. When your weight stabilizes it will grow back.
