  1. @@kathy0529 I just left my pre-surgery appointment, and was down 2 lbs more than I anticipated. Only 8 days to go. The nurse told me not to worry, that she was confident I could loose the eight pounds by next Wednesday. Laparoscopic surgery. I've watched so many videos. It's amazing how the surgery is performed without actually cutting you wide open.
  2. @kathy0529 I was told to loose 10 lbs before the surgery. The whole six months of nutrional classes my weight was fluctuated. At first it was stagnant then it climbed dropped and climbed again. I started the pre-op diet a week early to give me a head start, and lost 8lbs. Now I am back at 232...long pause, 'cause now the scale isn't moving anymore. I have 8-10 more to go. I increased my water intake today to see if that will make a difference. Fingers X.
  3. @time4change15 Yes, this was the first approval. I don't know if I could've endured a denial.
  4. @@kathy0529 We are identical. My pre-surgery appointment is tomorrow. I have plateaued out with the pre-op diet. I was loosing 1 lb a day up until this past Saturday. I still have a few lbs. left and now I'm really nervous.
  5. @@time4change15 Every insurance company is different. My approval came in between the Christmas Holiday. My paperwork was submitted on Dec. 16th and my insurance coordinator at the doctor's office called me on Dec. 29th to give me the great news. I'm not sure how many days in between those 13 days that it actually took since the holiday played a role in the short week for the doctor office.
  6. I had my test done and the H Pylori was positive for the bacteria. I am allergic to Penicillin so I was put on a cocktail of antibiotics and had to blow in two bags 4 weeks after completing the regiment. That cocktail didn't kill off the bacteria. I just finished a second round of antibiotics a few weeks ago.
  7. @@Vikingsfan8178 I have tried every weight loss program that you can think of; including WW, succeeded in losing about 12-15 lbs, and once I lost focused, would regain the weight double what I lost. Maintaining weight loss has always been the culprit, not loosing the weight. I am very happy that you posted this question because it proves that we are all human and second guessing is normal. I thought this question several times a day before actually making the call to meet with the physician. The merry go round of weight loss gets tiring, especially when you realize that your best efforts are wasteful when you regain the weight. The weight has really affected my physical frame. My body is screaming...and not to mention its going crazy from the diabetes, hypertension and sleep apnea that I've acquired during this tumultuous love/hate relationship with my weight. Just as others have replied, I am in total agreement that the sleeve is a tool in ensuring that you achieve your weight loss goals, reminding you of your limitations and helping us all reach the maximum result that we strive to achieve.
  8. @@realrawuncutsleeve I would do it now, especially since you know your date. Are you using any STD under the FMLA? I am taking the full six weeks that my doctor recommends, and will work from home the last two weeks of the six week period. The FMLA request protects your job for 12 weeks and the STD leave can coincide with your sick and vacation.
  9. @@realrawuncutsleeve @@davop56 I am right in the middle of you two. I am Jan. 21st. I am nervous, but excited at the same time. I just submitted my leave request. It is really official.
  10. @@egeland942010 Good Luck to you. It is really exciting to have so many upcoming sleevers around the same time.
  11. @Is27 Congratulations! I am nervous one minute, then the next I am wishing this week and next would speed by. I started my pre-op diet early because I knew I had gained a few pounds over the holiday. I'm really supposed to start this Wednesday. However I am already down 6 lbs. I have 8lbs to go. So that is the only thing that keeps me focused and not stressing or having real anxiety about the 21st. Oh, and of course reading all the posts in the forum everyday. It is very exciting though. I still haven't mustered up enough courage to take some before pics.
  12. Cool.Good luck to you both @@RedSalamander and @hco7416. I can't believe I have two weeks left until the 21st.
  13. @@Julesbythesea Congratulations! It is very exciting. When do you start your pre-op diet?
  14. Ditto to everyone's responses. I started this journey in June when I visited the Doctor for the information session. My insurance required mandatory 6 months of nutrition classes (so you are definitely luckly). My monthly visits went fast, ending in Dec. I just received my date (Jan.21) a week ago, and I gotta say, if it weren't for this for this forum, I would've pulled my hair out. Everyone in this community are so nice, helpful and supportive. I started reading all of the posts everyday until I was comfortable enough to post questions or thoughts. You will definitely learn a lot about what to expect before and after surgery. Good luck on this journey.
  15. @@joshwah Congratulations! Glad to know I'm not sleeving by myself!
  16. @@monopoly2015 Yay! So exciting. We are a day apart. I was told to start my pre-op diet on Jan. 7th. We can do this.
  17. Surgery is scheduled for Jan. 21st. I'm so nervous!
  18. I am once again excited as I was yesterday when I received the approval. The Insurance coordinator called me this afternoon and gave me the date of January 21st. All of a sudden, I am so nervous. Any other January 21st sleeves? I would love to support each other during this process!
  19. @@lose2winagain How long have you been waiting for your approval? It seemed like eternity for me, but they actually submitted my paperwork on Dec.16th.
  20. Thank you everyone. I can't wait to join the losers bench.
  21. I am so excited! I have been waiting patiently and just received the phone call this morning from the insurance coordinator at my Doctor's office that UnitedHealthcare approved me! So excited right now, I can't contain myself! Now I am waiting for the insurance coordinator to call me back so we can set a date!
  22. @@laurenella82 Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Hopefully I will hear something next week too!
  23. @@laurenella82 Merry Christmas. I wanted to check-in and see if you have received your approval. I found out last Friday that the doctor office didn't submit my paperwork until Dec. 16th. I was so mad that the insurance coordinator lied. I would've never known had I not called UnitedHealthcare to see for myself what was going on with the progress of the approval. So still waiting patiently.
  24. I feel fine. I didn't even know I had the bacteria that could create ulcers...but it has to be killed off before I can have the surgery. I'll get there. The doctor called this evening and assured me she called the prescription in to the Providence hospital pharmacy. I'm gonna go pick it up tomorrow. How are you doing? This waiting game is driving me crazy. Hopefully we get our approval soon!
