  1. I have a 17 year old son who is really skinny. I have tried to make sure that my surgery did not affect him too much and still try to make sure he had his snacks, etc. What I found out was that I was going back to my old ways and sneaking a piece of candy here and a cheeto there...I finally took one cabinet in the kitchen and put all of his treats in there and got a small chain and padlock and gave him the key...he thinks it is neat to have his own area and now..I think I will make more progress in my efforts to lose weight..wish I would have done it sooner. My nutritionist told us...just don't bring that stuff in the house..well, it is hard when you have teenagers.
  2. I had surgery on November 21 and doing great. I have lost 30 lbs so far and that was enough to donate bags and bags of clothes out of my closet..I cannot believe how much better I feel. Every day it gets better! I have not even had a fill yet..my Dr. thinks I am losing just fine and wants to just have me keep going the way I am...others are losing faster than me but I am just hanging in there. I am the thinnest I have been in 10 years...I gained all of my weight after having kids (over 35) and now my boys are grown up and it was time for me to lose it...:tongue2:
  3. HI, I missed the last lunch and details of the last get together. I would love to meet other lap-banders and just make new friends. I live in Gilbert and wanted to see if anyone wanted to get together for lunch. I am retired so I can do it any day. I was banded on Nov. 21, 2007 and have lost about 30 lbs. I have not had a fill yet..the Dr. thinks I am doing okay so far without one. Let me know if you want to meet.
  4. I am off to surgery this am. I have not read this yet on the forum but thought I would mention it. When I went to my pre-op meeting, our coordinator told us to walk and walk after surgery. She told us that they want us to walk 20 minutes for every hour we are awake for the next 4 days or so... Think about it...that is a lot of walking. She said it is to reduce the pain from the trapped gas and also to prevent blood clots from forming. I guess I will be doing a lot of walking. I will let you know how it goes.
  5. Hi everyone...I am being banded tomorrow. I am 55 and have had weight issues for the past 20 years. My husband is supportive but thinks this whole thing is pretty expensive and still wonders why I can't just do this on my own. I will be alone this holiday except for my son. My husband had planned on visiting his mom (prior to my decision to have surgery and she is in her 90s) which is 1000 miles away. I did not really tell anyone about my surgery except for one close friend. I have really enjoyed reading all of the posts. I am a little nervous but did have gall bladder surgery a year ago and did not have any trouble so I hope this will go ok as well. I have spent so many years on so many diets and then failed that during the past few years..I have not even been able to start a new one. I want so much to wear jeans that do not have an elastic waist band, I want to ride a horse, I want to ride a bike again, and I want weight to just not be an issue anymore. Best to everyone...
