  1. Yes! I'd love to know more about the failed sleeve...how did you know and what were the symptoms and/or consequences?
  2. Yay Luann919!!! YES, YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
  3. Yes! That's what I did. I loved the Campbell's chicken and rice soup, I just strained the rice and had the broth.
  4. Oh great points! I'm in pain a lot and end up having to make myself vomit to get relief. I haven't been paying attention my amounts, so I need to do better about that.
  5. Thank you Cody's mom! I did have a hard time. I'm normally a tough gal - I'm not afraid of much medical procedure wise....this was just out of left field for me. But today I am better as I am everyday. I'm going to get stitches out today too - yay! They freakin itch! Lol I've also progressed to mashed potatos and I just ate a cracker with no pain...YAY!!! I'm down 12 pounds, and I can tell, so I'm staying positive! I think I wasn't as healthy as I should have been right before surgery. I was anemic and Vitamin deficient. I think that's probably why I've struggled so much. So make sure you're getting as much nutrition as you can starting today Smile121! You'll recover much much better than I did! :-)
  6. I did...so I went to Mexico for my surgery and paid out of pocket. As far as wondering if it will work, I can definitely say it WILL WORK. I'm like you, an emotional eater. I've tried to eat things other than the liquids and soft foods and trust me - I CANT. Even if I want to. My stomach can't hold it, so I'll puke. Or it hurts do bad that I have to make myself puke just to ease the pain. And I'm not talking about real food - just more dense food like very mushy, soft, overly cooked veggies...or like 2 lays potato chips because I want it so bad I think I can just sneak it in. I'm now starting to fear food, and just not want it. I don't sneak stuff a lot, as I know it can damage my stomach while it heals, but I've learned the hard way and I'm less and less tempted everyday...I know I'm gonna make it! :-D
  7. Hi Smile121! It's a good decision; however it's no walk in the park! Just be mindful that it is a MAJOR surgery and you will struggle for a while before and after the surgery. I am on day 15 post op and I'm still struggling. Some days I wish I hadn't done it, I feel sorry for myself because I can't eat normally yet, and I even fear if I will ever be able to eat normal food again. But of course, I know that I will and that in a few more weeks, I'll be home free! And skinny soon! As long as you are aware that it's not easy, then you will do better. Right now I hate seeing the commercials on TV of the happy people dancing around, happy cuz they lost a their weight with a gastric sleeve so easily . I always think LIARS! It's hard! LOL I'm 5'6", was 220 pre surgery...I'm now 207 after 15 days. Slowly but surely. Just waiting for the day that I can stop with the chicken broth, Jello, etc. I want to eat real food again. And I want to be pain free with out any gas pain or just drink Water pain free. I hope I didn't scare you, just wish I would have been better prepared before I did this. I'm still happy I did and I know I will have a much better life! I look forward to life now, instead of dreading it because I was so fat and ashamed of myself. Life will be better than ever very soon!!! Good luck!!!!
  8. Thank you Samuelsmom and Rivobay...I had my surgery in Mexico, but I'll see my regular doctor on Friday for suture removal. I think i may be causing my pain...I think maybe my sips are too big? I don't drink all day so I get really thirsty, then can't quench my thirst because I'm in pain. I just had chicken broth and it was good. Small sips, no pain. I think I'm panicking at this pint and need to chill out and take it one day at a time. :-( I just want to be normal now. boo hoo!!!
  9. Thank you! I will. My emotions are so out of whack. The worst is thinking I'm going to be this way for the rest of my life. :-( I'm scared of that.
  10. I'm only 12 days post op and I'm still miserable! I cry daily wishing I hadn't done this. Everything hurts. liquids hurt, soft puréed stuff hurts. I'm thirsty, I'm hungry, and I'm in pain. How long will I be like this? Will I ever be back to normal? Will I always hurt and need to vomit to feel better? Please someone tell me it does get better! I'm crying as I write this...I cry myself to sleep most of the time. :-(
  11. Same here...I heard lap band turned out to not be a safe option...my doc advised against it, said sleeve was more effective and much much safer... Breaking up with food will be hard, but not as hard as you think now. There will be times when you don't listen to your post op instructions and may try to sneak a bite of real food - after a few painful times and puking to feel better, you will never see good the same again. You may fear it more than you thought you'd keep loving it. After what I went through to get sleeved and what I've experienced during my recovery and after, my life no longer revolves around food. I kinda hate it because it hurts still. I can't wait until I'm back to normal, but I know I will never over eat like I used to. You will be fine!!! Good luck!! It's not easy, but it's definitely doable!
  12. Yay! Good luck! I packed gossip magazines....I didn't have the energy to mess with my ipad. I packed very loose pj pants and very loose top and bra for when I went home. Pack a blow dryer too, for after your daily showers. My hospital didn't have one and I had to let my hair air dry which I thought would make me sick (catch a cold - prob an old wives tale). Recovery will be long and boring!!! So be prepared! Good luck!!!! Prayers going your way!!!
  13. Oh I do!!! I'm 10 days post....I'm hungry y'all the time (or so I think). Everything on TV makes me want to cry! I can't watch my favorite shows on food network for now. Just saw the Little Ceasars pretzel pizza and thought to myself - YUM!!!! When before it used to make me gag!! I have cheated trying to eat real stuff like mashed up Mac n cheese, mushy burrito filling, but it all made me puke, so I learned my lesson. I just cry a little now when I see a big juicy burger on TV... ;-( I find that when out of sight, out of mind. So I know I'm not really hungry, it's just all in my head! Someday my friend...someday.....we'll get to eat good stuff every once in a while. God be with us! And let the hungries stay far far away!!!
  14. Oh and my doc said taking pills right after was ok. I have to take synthroid, iron, and other stuff daily. It was no big deal after. You just won't be able to drink a whole lot of water to wash them down.
  15. Yes Denise...you'll even be wheeled into surgery a nervous wreck wishing you could back out. But then they get ya! Anesthesia is given and you wake up with a new life ahead of you!!! I worried and cried slot even until I was looking up at the surgical lights and equipment as I lie ready to go under. It's so normal, but don't let it get to you so much...cry if you need to...tell whoever you have for support you are scared/worried/nervous..just let it out. Then focus on the positive - the fact that you're going to be a brand new woman very soon!!! And you'll never again have to feel how you feel right now. Good luck and blessings!!!!
  16. I have Federal BCBS...they required a 2 year weight history because I was at 35 BMI...if I would have been 40 - they would have approved without the hurdles of meeting the 2 year BMI req, diet program for 3 months, etc. As long at youre at 40 at the time ins approval is req, you should be ok...but just to be sure, maybe you could live it up until then? That may be bad advice, but if I had to be 40 BMI, then I'd do whatever I had to do to make sure I stayed at that BMI so that I could be sure I'd be approved. Good luck!!!! :-)
  17. Just sleeved Nov 20th in Tijuana...Dr. Curiel....Tijuana is really beautiful, clean, and safe. I felt very comfortable. Mets lots of others at the Hotel Ticuan doing the same thing. Very comforting to know a lot of people go there to have this done. If your going to TJ, you'll be safe. Good luck!!! :-)
  18. @@ELI.p.m I'm not working out yet....just lots of walking...and I'm doing house chores without a problem, just not lifting heavy stuff. That's my workout for now. :-) I haven't had any kids yet, so I'm pretending I am with my bloated belly...it's kinda fun....lol
  19. I don't think you're screwed...the carbonation isn't good for your stomach before surgery....as long as you stop now, you should be ok....but you gotta stop RIGHT NOW!!! Good luck and prayers for you tfarr!!! :-)
  20. I'm 9 days out....today wa the day I actually felt ok...I feel pain, but it feels like soreness from working out and at times like I'm ripping something when I get up...oh and I look like I'm pregnant - I'm so bloated!!! But we can only take it one day at a time...we will get through this....and we WILL BE SKINNY 4/EVER!!!!
  21. Great NPEACE! I'm much better now...just soreness/pain from the incisions...tried to have some more soft foods (I'm 9 days post op)...it still hurts.... I'm 5'6" and started at 220...I've only lost about 6 pounds....that's not very encouraging to me...I hope this is gonna work!! :-(
  22. Thanks Elode! I'll look for some of the stevia drops...great idea in a protein shake...
  23. Thank u guys! Thanks LeanerLena! I hadn't thought of the keurig cups...I'll try to give it another week before I try... Another question - do u find yourselves wanting to eat a bunch of times? I eat very little, but I feel like I should be eating something 24/7...like I get anxiety about it...is this normal? Will I get past this? It's almost like I feel scared sometimes...
  24. :-( you're right...I just need coffee...is coffee ok yet? My doc didn't say...
