  1. not directed to me, but good luck! follow your plan, and you should be successful. i wish i knew from the beginning that stalls are normal...you will have periods of losing then not, maybe even gaining a little. don't let that discourage you! check how your clothes feel, take pictures, hide the scale if it proves to be a burden and just weigh yourself once a week or so. i hop on the scale daily purely out of habit, but since i know my body's rhythm, it doesn't freak me out to see a stall.
  2. i know this is from forever ago, but i'm so glad you mentioned your reason for the surgery...that's my reason, too, but i hadn't yet heard of that being someone's reason so i thought i was some freak of nature or something lol i also got rny, am currently 6 months out, -100lbs down, and had no complications
  3. so, i've noticed in the past few days that when i sit at the table, i sit very far from it...of course to accommodate a former bigger belly. old habits die hard, they say. what's yours?
  4. i just wanted to agree more with lorelu...don't let lack of scale movement discourage you, it's normal. i also take measurements primarily by noticing how my clothes fit
  5. hi! i am not from poland...i am a non-dutch speaking american living in holland, and these forums give me the most information, very thankful for them
  6. due on your surgery anniversary...gah!! don't make me cry! congratulations!
  7. agreed. i think tough love most certainly has its place, but it almost seemed like op's drs didn't even recommend a Vitamin regimen since the blood work levels were so low. good luck to you op! i love your proactive nature...you're going to succeed!
  8. lol, and it was so organic in that moment...i hadn't personified her before, only my car. also a she.
  9. after a rocky start this morning, little sleep, battling an annoyingly lingering cough, i decided to step on the scale for a pick-me-up...she did not disappoint. i am now 100 (!!!) pounds down from my oct 22nd starting weight of 284 and a mere 9 pounds away from being 100 pounds down from my june 9th surgery. 91 pounds in (almost) 6 months is frickin awesome!!
  10. wonderful post, whollu agree. and you look terrific.
  11. look at your cute face! congrats on taking charge at an earlier age...i'm 34 and wish i did this years ago!
  12. lol @ narcissistic. for me, my brain's doing the opposite...I've just recently realized just how big i was from looking at pictures. i always said that in a different life I'd probably have been an athlete, and i was strong and active up til the last 5 years...i finally felt fat because i could no longer keep up with my former self.
  13. lol, people are simple sometimes. yesterday i was looking at a youtube channel about old commercials and found out about a diet supplement from the early 80s unfortunately named ayds...so even entire companies are simple sometimes!
  14. hey! how's it going? i hope surgery went well!
  15. a board full of hotties! thanks for the encouraging updates!
  16. I agree with this to a point. But, there were a couple of folks who very tactfully and kindly shared with me that they had surgery. I would never have known since I only met them after they had lost weight. Both of the instances (unrelated) was after we had developed more than a nodding acquaintance. It was clear they were being vulnerable and sharing private information with me because they cared. It wasn't in order to shame me -- that makes a HUGE difference. They set a great example on how to share my story in a compassionate way. If it weren't for them planting the seed in my brain that it was possible I wouldn't have eventually considered surgery. I am very grateful to them. my sister was actually the first to mention wls to me years ago when she was starting the process herself. she decided not to, and i hope my continued success might give her a positive view of it.
  17. trying on clothes is definitely how i've enjoyed tracking my loss.
  18. no advice, only 5 months in. but you look fantastic.
  19. on some level, i did the surgery to (also! not primarily) convince my sister to consider it. she and i were the heavy ones, only childless ones up til last year. we did everything together. i've married and moved away, and i know she's not very happy. my heart hurts so much for her. she's always been bigger, but when she was younger, she carried it well and had so much confidence. i know if she loses the weight, she'll be happier (though i do wonder if it'll uncover some other issues, i think her life would improve greatly). when we talk, she never asks about my wls. like yall said, when we were bigger, we knew. eta she doesn't ask, and i don't bring it up.
  20. woohoo! i now fit the motivation outfit i bought at the beginning of my journey...large shirt and 14 pants...from xxl and 22
  21. or when your husband drops something on the floor to get you to pick it up...
  22. we've probably had so many instances of losing-gaining-losing that when we do see a gain after a loss, we throw in the towel. if you work the tool, that won't be your outcome...you'll lose the weight. stalls, in the beginning, are discouraging. for me, after seeing the pattern of losing then stalling or even gaining before another big loss, i am no longer discouraged by the stalls. i knew i would stall after getting to 199...i sat there for about 10 days. already lost 4 lbs in last 3 days. be patient and kind to yourself.
