  1. I am kinda going out of my mind. I had my first fill on Monday and it was 5 cc's in my 10 cc band. So now I am half full and I don't have any restricition at all. I can eat a whole plate of food, i even tried bread hoping I would get stuck and it went down no problem. I know this is not normal but has anyone else had this same thing happen. Any suggestions or advice is appreciated... thanks
  2. Peaches I think we can do it! It is a goal withen reach...
  3. Hi, I ma so glad we met on Monday. I had 5cc filled. The max on the first fill. I don't feel any different. I keep waiting to feel some kind of restriction but it is weird i dont feel it and I can eat like i was before the fill. I am being really careful not to overeat. I am going back on Thursday as Dr Yau has to drain a lump I got from the surgery and I am going to ask about the none restriciton I am feeling. I am kinda mad as I had spoken to someone at the clinic prior to my flying out here and she said that Dr Yau would look at it when I got my fill and he is not there until Thursday. I had prev emailed them pics... Well They know I am from out of town and told me to come back for him to look at it. Good thing I was in town longer than a day. I am kinda in a frustrated mood.
  4. I drink coffee all the time but I drink it black no cream and sugar...... if only plain water would go down as well as coffee...lol
  5. I have a 10 cc band and had my first fill today of 5cc's........... I dont feel any different, after a bowl of soup i was still hungry and water is going down easily..... the band is not half full and i feel no new restriction i dont think i am normal
  6. I am sorry you had a bad experiance too, I ma going to complain bigtime.... i just didnt want any trouble before my flight so i kept quiet.
  7. steph thanks for that info,,. i had no idea a man was not allowed to even wand a female I fly home next sunday and i am gonna take the advice not to mention the band until questioned...
  8. Snowbird, it was the port that set it off. I have the midband so maybe that is why. The card they really didnt care about seeing,
  9. 18 again, After my surgery at TLBC it set off the alarm at the Toronto airport on my way back to Edmonton and it was not an event like it was flying here. I have the midband, I go in the morning for my first fill so I am gonna ask the Dr why this would be happening. It is just so violating.
  10. I had a horrible experiance at the Edmonton Airport yesterday. Going thru security my port set of the system. I was prepared, I had my lapband card ready with my ID. Of course it was a man checking me with the wand. I handed him my card and he just stared at me. He wanted me to tell him what kind of surgery and details of what kind of device it is. THEN HE YELLED OUT I NEED A FEMALE OFFICER SOME KIND OF GASTRIC WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY DEVICE>>> It felt like a minute of silence people just stopped and stared at me. Got some really funny looks. I was escorted to a private room with 2 security officers as they carried my purse and magazine. I felt like a criminal. I had to unzip my jeans and allow the female gaurd to touch where the port was so she can rule out the device being a knife.. WHAT THE HAY!!!!! I was mortified , truly ashamed, embarrased and I felt so violated. I didn't want to argue as i needed to get on the plane. IS THIS GOING TO HAPPEN ALL THE TIME? WHAT CAN I DO WHEN I FLY NEXT TIME?
  11. Tell the people you want to know. It is no concern for anyone else. I found that when people asked why I was not eating as much or if I was out in a group I will order an appetizer as my meal and people would remark OH ON ANOTHER DIET!!! I just tell people it is portion control and not a diet and the excuse oh i had a big breakfast or a big lunch seems to work too. I have only been banded 6 weeks but so far my experiance has been great. The people I did tell are my support. Just wait for the day your husbands family looks at the new slim you....I think they will have a different opinion then won't they? The people that you tell that don't understand tell them this is less risk than the health risks of being overweight. I have found this site to be my best support. It is amazing. Everyone understands,,,, This is the first time in my life I feel comfortable sharing my true weight. Congratulatons on your decision to get this done and be choosy who you tell.
  12. Welcome Steve... this is a great site and full of information and support. Glad to hear you are doing well post op.
  13. Hi Amy, I also live in Canada. I usually celebrate twice too!!! I missed out on our Thanksgiving, surgery was a few days later and I was in the States. Now I am missing the American Holiday cause I am back in Canada. ARGH!! Saved by holidays on different days...lol Christmas is gonna be the tough one for me. I will not give up my honey baked spiral sliced ham and honey baked turkey...........Everything else I can live without....
  14. To bad I will miss you peaches. I am kinda worried cause it feels like my port is sideways now... I am travelling from edmonton and i hope they can still do the fill... Where you there for 2 hours for your first fill?
  15. Glad you had fun in Vegas and even lost a pound! I know I ate some bad meal choices this weekend and thought I gained too..... eating out is a nightmare but i lost a pound too!
  16. Dave, I was so afraid to go out and eat and I guess I won't be going out anymore...lol At least for a while. You have done awsome on your weight loss. What do you eat on a normal day? I go for my first fill next week. I have done well without the fill yet but I am so hungry, I really have to be careful not to overeat.
  17. I just had my first major stuck feeling last night. I can now relate too to what everyone has been saying. I was sitting at the bar eating dinner out for the first time. The first swallow...omg!!! I am glad everyone had their eyes on the football game I think I looked paniked. I thought I was gonna pass out... What an awful feeling.
  18. Congrats. Your persistance paid off. UNited can either be easy or hard to deal with and there is no in between, So now you are approved do you have a surgery date?
  19. I was just wondering if anyone is having their first fill at Tlbc on Nov 26th? I am excited and nervous for the first fill.
  20. I had gas pains there for almost 2 weeks after surgery. Just keep burping and walking around. There is probably still gas trapped. It will go away but it feels like it never will. Hang in there.
  21. I would have to agree about the droopy diaper feeling tulipstar...lol....I think this weight loss experiance so far has been exciting and to have us all being able to share has made everything so much easier.
  22. You are doing fantastik! It is really hard to follow all the rules. If you tell your Doctor that your hunger is there and you do not feel as if you have any restriction they will prob do a fill. Keep up the good work. You have awsome will power!!!
  23. I can so relate. My scale does weird crap like that all the time. It makes me so mad I actually do scream...lol up and down and not by just a pound it is a signifigant amount.... WHY WHY WHY!!!!!!
  24. I know the mental mind tells you to eat what you might not be able to eat. I would have to think what u are doing is normal. Do you have a pre op diet you need to follow and if so when? I am finding I can still eat some of the things I used to eat just not alot of it and don't freak yourself out by thinking like that you will never be able to eat that again. I can still eat some of the bad stuff but in smaller amounts and I know when I break down and do I am just hurting myself. I know easier said than done but now is the time to begin your journey and if you start making smarter food choices now you will make the process so much easier after getting the band. I hope I make sense here. I am finding this such a big lifestyle change and wish i mentally prepared prior. You need to get focused on what you want to get from the band and try to forget about the junk food. I am a junk food junkie, now i try to find other healthy options when I am wanting to go back to bad habits and I have only been banded a month.
  25. I haven't lost too much yet but I notice with what I have lost I don't have any aches and pains in my legs when I get up in the morning and walk downstairs.
