  1. I am 6 days out from my banding and I am soooo excited about it.... Although, I think I am a little more excited to end this Optifast diet. I know it's strictly liquids for the first 2 weeks post-op but at least I can have more than just veges and the Optifast shake - looking most forward to a banana smoothie... Does anyone have any liquid meal suggestions for me???? livelovelapband.blogspot.com.au
  2. So I started the Optifast program last week and have lost 4.0kg!!! I don't know why but I am actually quite amazed. 2 weeks to go until my surgery date and I am getting very excited..
  3. Hi everyone I am on day 6 of the 21 day Optifast Diet and I am so far doing pretty well. Have managed to attend a couple of events without the nibblys bothering me. I have concluded the strawberry shakes are the best by a country mile....
  4. Hi SandyS, I started yesterday fir my surgery in 3 weeks. Good luck with it..
  5. Well today is day 1 of my pre-op diet. So far so good. I have had a shake for Breakfast and some vegies and a Meal Replacement bar for lunch. Hopefully I don't find it too difficult to stick to. I weighed myself this morning and have jotted down my numbers. I'm not quite ready to divulge those numbers publicly yet, but I will in good time. I can't believe that my surgery is in exactly 3 weeks time - it is all starting to feel very real now. I want to say a huge big thanks to a couple of my girlfriends who are doing the pre-op phase with me for moral support, and it is very much appreciated. I will check in again soon and let you know how I am going.
  6. Hi Diane524, I am in Australia so we don't have thanksgiving. As it is I feel like it is very close to Christmas and in amongst a lot of Christmas celebrations.
  7. Hi Diane, I start my pre-op next week. I have to do mine for 3 weeks and getting banded on November 27th. I too am getting very excited and can not wait for it all to begin. Good luck
  8. I am starting the pre-op Optifast next week for 3 weeks. How much weight can I potentially lose in this time and also the 3 weeks post-op before I begin eating solids again?
  9. I am in Australia so we probably have different terminology. Keyhole surgery is less invasive done with a few small incisions. Not full open surgery if that makes sense?
  10. Can I please get an idea on recovery times for keyhole lapband surgery? How long before I can drive and other day to day stuff. I am having a week off work.
  11. Thanks guys. That is really helpful.
  12. Hi all, I am in Melbourne Australia and scheduled to have my lap-band surgery on November 27th. I have been really excited and 100% positive of a successful outcome up until now. Reading some horror stories has allowed a hint of doubt to creep in.. I am trying to assess each story separately, and find a common thread for those that haven't worked so I know what to avoid.. I would be grateful for any suggestions and help along the way. I think I am doing everything I can to help myself by being well informed, accepting help and advice and being realistic about what to expect of myself and the band. Anyway, I have had appointments with a physician, a psychologist and will be seeing a dietician this week. I also need to have a sleep study in a couple of weeks as well. Anyway I want to wish everyone the best of luck both pre and post-op and hope for the best possible outcomes.
