I'm getting close to surgery and I'm getting super excited but also super nervous!

Thanks for all your responses! I'm way more nervous about this than I should be.

I'm nervous to have the EGD done before surgery. What exactly do they do? Will I be awake when they do it?

I have BCBS. My specific plan (because they are all different) requires me to have 6 months of visits with my PCP, a Psych Eval, 1 meeting with a nutritionist, 2 support group meetings, proof of obesity for the last 2 years, and BMI of 40 or above, or BMI of 35-39 with two comorbidities.

My insurance company BCBS said absolutely no net weight gain during the pre op supervised visits with my PCP.

Did you lose your boobs and butt after having the gastric sleeve? I'm concerned I'll lose mine and I don't see myself being able to have plastic surgery down the road to replace what I lose.

I'm good! I'm just going through the steps to get approved for my surgery. I'm really hoping and praying that you get your appeal approved.

I didn't even know you could hire a company to appeal for you....that's awesome! I hope they didn't charge you too much, but then again you can't really put a price on your health. Hope it all goes well for you!

Thanks for all of your responses. I'm happy about my decision and I feel at peace about. I'm doing this for ME, not her or anyone else. So I'm just gonna stay focused and stay positive.

Everyone in my family has been VERY supportive of my choice to have the gastric sleeve except my Mother. I've been talking about the surgery for the last 4 months and preparing for it. Today I was at my parents house and I printed off some diet info about the gastric sleeve. My mom asked me what I was reading and when I told her she acted all surprised and said "oh so you're going to do that surgery??" And then looked annoyed about it. Ummm I've been talking about this for 4 months. Why is she acting like she didn't know?? I guess she didn't think I was serious....
