  1. Mindy take the time you need to get healthy, no use pushing, to only get sick again..feel better. I completed wk 3, but will more than likely have to stay here one more, which I'm OK with. DH wants to get going to the gym, and this might be a "pass" on running day - I'm a little sore. I REALLY like the idea of getting fitted for running shoes, maybe I can work that in soon (still hiding the fact of spending $230 this wk on sports bras)..LOL. Wombat - it was 23 this AM when I let the dogs out. Didn't they say this would be a MILD winter? Happy Wk 4 (or for me 3 again)!
  2. That is fantastic - Congrats!!!
  3. I remeber seeing a bumper sticker that said "I may be fat but your Ugly and I can Diet", think I was around 16 at the time. I always broached the subject of my weight gain before someone else had the chance too - always in a humorous way, I was the thin one until I got married. So, in becoming the "Fat" one - I could not let someone else feel uncomfortable with having to mention what I already knew since I do own mirrors, so I would quash the topic fast, have a laugh and move on. I gladly take any and all compliments that come my way, I try not to be sensitive with the imperfections that accompanied the weight gain...rather work to be a healthy person - Who, can get PS and fix the "fat" issue rather than the "ugly".
  4. Whosya, thanks for your post, I'm digging the running gig (hey did I rhyme, must be exhausted). TXG asked the same ?'s I had, Stranger how awesome does it feel? I ran again today and I'm sucking less wind each time. Wombat, you rock doing this outside..it's snowing here, due South of Dallas - have to get out w/the dogs to enjoy this years 2 minutes of snow. Take Care All! Go Giants!!!
  5. I think your on track FLMan..I'm 3 1/2 months out and have lost 35. Good Luck to ya!!
  6. Well, I married a true Texan, and after living on a ranch & working it for over a yr *been here 14yrs* ...I think I qualify HA! (ya..do have guns tho..yikes).... I am fundamentaly Liberal, I dont' vote party lines per se' however in reading a lot through this thread we put a LOT of pressure on the cadidates as far as "morality" goes. I think we discourage some truly talented / compassioned individuals from running - for what may hide in their closet. Lord only knows poking in mine, would hurt one upon opening. I want the war OVER, the troops HOME, my bank account rolling like the 90's, and GOV't out of my A$$ on domestic issues. I could go on but I think that should start the ball rolling, Ya think:??
  7. Diplomacy is something I am asked to work on by the spousal unit, which I think Green does a good deal in her dialogue. BJean, I do share similar thoughts on this subject, and the hole in my cheek sometime burns when drinking my Fav Fab Cab from biting it often. My rabid impulses have gotten the best of me, I try to keep them in check "most" of the time:)
  8. Can I join this discussion late in the debate:rolleyes2:? Disclaimer: Liberal New Yorker now Texan..
  9. Ash - I said I "struggled" with how to respond, only because in discussions like these "over the net" words can get lost in translation, and intent of dialogue misconstrued. I respect your value system immensley - it is however yours, and there are others as you have read that wholeheartedly disagree...that would be the great thing about free speech .
  10. I struggle with your statement & how to respond, but feel as though Marjon & Kagoscuba eloquently described my thoughts exactly. Your comments above in this thread state that you understand that "neither side has the right answer in this debate", with an added LOL to the end of it...This current post suggests that it's a copp out or murder. I'm confused about your true belief on this topic when you can be so flippant in one post, and downright passionate in another. I mean no ill disrespect as I say this, it truly is a simple issue of Gov't interference in a womans Right to Choose, irregardless of ones personal value system.
  11. TXG - I LUV your husband. I've been in TX - out of NY for almost 14 yrs, I will root for the "Boys" except when playing the Giants (household rules). The good ole' TX boy I married and I are getting our run in too before the game, my NY brothers are in town to give me some support while he's out shopping for a Farve (sp?) jersey. LOL
  12. They are my true staple! In a bind they're in the frozen section @Target.
  13. Colton - did ya run? Wombat?? I know it's FREEZIN in NTX and I don't know how you do it outside... I did wk3 today and I'm a bit giddy how excited I was afterwards. I hear ya get this euphoric rush or something like that running and I think I was close (still sucked a LOT of wind). Whosya - Packer fan??? I'm the lone Giant fan in TX I think, DH won't run next to me @ the gym w/the NYG cap on:)..I'll change that to the NY Yankees cap in the Spring:)..cheers Lulu
  14. I can have all the DVD's / Equipment / etc. but all they will do is collect dust. I have to get out of the house, whether thats' walking (realize it's winter) or the gym. Do you have a local YMCA or does your School District open up the gyms in the evenings for Adults? Somtimes these 2 options might be easier / cheaper than to smack down a bunch of cash to join a gym with monthly membership fees. I would call around,
  15. Hubby didn't know until the morning we were both banded, standing next to each other being weighed in. Now, since we're both banded it's a competition each AM "how much did you loose????"
  16. B - 1/2c Smart start Cereal / 1/2c 2% borden protein milk / handful of blueberries L - 4 Grilled Chicken Dumplings D - 3 oz Pesto Chicken / 1/2c steamed squash
  17. Loridee, I got the surgery form from the Dr that stated mine and husbands surgery was for morbid obesity, that was all my accountant needed.
  18. Triplet Mom - Sorry you having a rough go. It's safe to guess you'll get similar responses here "every Dr. is different". For me, it took 3 wks to heal properly, which covered the time of my post op liquid stage and I didn't feel hungry till the end of the 4th wk. I'm pretty thankful my Dr is somewhat on the aggressive side of fills, my first one was a month out, then it's been 4wks / 2 wks / 4 wks (next Wed will be #4). So in 3+ months I"ll have 4 fills. Is that right? I don't know, what I do know is that I've not had to deal with head hunger, or feel starved at any point in this process. I'm eating a bit more now, but I think that's because I'm working out like crazy...which I hope fill #4 can curb. My Dr's opinion is if your working "his" program with diet & exercise...he will fill you as needed. It couldn't hurt to get a hold of your Dr and express to him the difficulty you are having. Waiting 2 months does seem long, but not unheard of. All the best, Lulu
  19. I was a mess, nothing short of a Laurel & Hardy show. My Ipod fell off the treadmill with my hand at the 2min mark, I jumped to the sides to get it back after it flung backwards...didn't slow down the speed and almost fell smack on my face when I got back on. Took me forever to get my breath back, when I did - I just did 90sec run's....Good Luck Stranger! I hope tomorrow is a better day for me:)
  20. Haven't hit here in a while: Today (all planned): B - 1/2cup chick peas (in a weekly rut with them, can't get enuf it seems) L - Shrimp Cocktail (3), 1/2cup edamame D - 3oz Grilled Chicken, 1/2cup stemed veggies S - handful of walnuts twice a day (getting hungry between meals, either working out more or waiting for fill #4 which is next wk) Thanks for suggestions on the various meals.
  21. Wow - thank you Lisa! I'm going to order one now - Appreciate it:)
