  5. Bobbye, During your seminar the surgeon will basically outline the procedure including whether you need to go on a liquid diet or not. Some do / Some dont'., You should have a lot of your questions answered then.
  6. Oh sappy is good!!, TXG, I wish I had jump started my workout before banding, your well on your way! Can't wait to follow your progress. Ladies, I hope you all did well today - Pics would be wonderful , but I know the drama of being around a camera...I break out in hives. I met yesterday my best girlfriends for a "long lunch" - hadn't seen since 3 wks after being banded. Since moving to the country I don't get to see them often - and the holidays were hard to get together, they could NOT believe my change in appearance. Down 38lbs, cut ALL my hair off (donated 14inches to locks of love)..it was SO nice to get cudoos from a bunch of "skinnies". So back to the business of running - I managed 2 days of Wk5 this wk!!! CRAZY! I got LJM / Whosya as inspiration of running no matter what. Going to keep pushing myself, I'm really feeling stronger and for the first time in years have energy non stop! Wombat - How beautiful was today???? I didn't go to the gym, rather walked around the countryside..Hope it lasts.. Happy Wk 6 all, Cheers~
  7. Thanks ya'll for letting me peer into this thread. I just did a HUGE grocery shopping, never bought so much cheese in one trip..HA:smile: DH will start this on Monday, me I'll do a "South Beach Version" to get the ball rolling. I've read most of you have done this to kick the "sweet tooth" - honestly, I've not had a piece of chocolate since surgery - it's as if I woke up with zero taste for sugar....which I'm very grateful. My only issue is the wanting of a glass of wine each night, which is sugar...maybe it just morphed into another craving:ohmy:. You all are doing so great - !!, Keep up the good work...I'm routing from afar! Lulu

Ah Green, I do very well buying groceries locally all but the "drinks". I like my Vodka from the Netherlands, Wine from the Russian River Valley & Tequilla from Mexico (Sonora State).
  10. Lauren, It hurts worse if your groomed "too short". I've found a little length, adhears to the wax and comes off faster. And faster is what you want! The lady that does mine suggests I dont' groom at all, she'll take care of any unwanted hair - and she does Just that. You'd think she were performing open heart surgery how she gets up close & personal and gets every unwanted bit of hair. Good luck - Mindy u Too!!

I love the shared farm idea. My one horse pony of a town, has each Sat a co-op type sale of fresh veggies/fruit/dairy/meat...Not just for those participating but a general sale of goods. Over the holidays my mom taught me how to can cetain foods, and DH and I bought a freezer for the garage to start storing our garden once they take off. Lindata - The solar panels are neat additon to the green house, I'm not overly scientific like DH is, I do know that the seeds I started in Sept (that's when the green house was complete) are taking off - far faster than anything I had in a window. I get lost inside there sometimes, I put my Ipod on and examine every little pod / pot I have going on. Right now I have a whole wall of Sunflower seeds sprouting , that I'm hoping to plant around our stocked Bass pond. I'd like to have the pond surrounded by Texas Wildflowers, and the only thing really missing was the sunflowers. The pond is one thing I didnt' mention that we eat from (Bass and some Crappie), since my Labs get the most of the fishing it seems as of late. Allyson - we wanted to go the geothermal heat pump route as well, but it's just astronomically outrageous in price. I love your floor choices, my preference was cork as well, but I got overruled. Too many dogs so DH choose heated concrete floors. They've been nice especially during and unseasonably cold TX winter. I love everyones ideas - the sponge is something new to me, I seem to put it in the dishwasher every chance I run it - or the microwave. Have clorox wips as backup for bathroom & dog needs:)
  12. Congrats!!! Ladies - Good luck on your run/walk today, looks like you'll have good weather!

I'm a pretty animated "talker", (half Italian / half german jewish). Often DH asks me to sit on my hands to tell my "whatever" story. I think the Internet makes it difficult for certain discussions when some are more "dramatic" than others - verbally. I'm pretty straight from the hip - I do sugar coat things to not hurt others feelings, to those I do not know. Family, thinks I need a pill when I go off on my tangents = or a glass of wine. Delivery is EVERYTHING, tact as well & mostly importantly...People in general are Way to sensitive.
  14. Thanks everyone...I've just turned into "psycho lapbander", according to DH. I can't read enough, search for recps, workout, or be here on LBT anymore than I already am. I've taken this so serious that DH is starting to get annoyed w/my obsession each day of what to eat / what workout to do ... that I"ve sorta let things around our place "go". I figure for the first time ever, I'm taking care of me - and I resent the days I can't get my workout in or my husband wants to take me to diner. I know that sounds weird.., but I had already planned our dinner, going out might tempt me to a glass of wine:tongue: I'm going to follow Atkins closely w/him. I'll be peeking in for your food choices, ... Much thanks!!
  15. Hey Ya'll, Been poking around this thread for a wk or so..DH (also banded) really wants to jump start into Atkins come this Monday. I don't have a problem preparing food for him etc, just not sure I can do this 100%. He's had great results doing Atkins in the past - I just have a few questions: 1 - Do you take any supplements 2 - Will you gain some of this weight back faster once going to a regular balanced meal Appreciate any feedback, Lu
  16. Also an Edwards Fan, my guess is he'll support Obama - but doubtful he'd accept a VP job..Just my thoughts.
  17. today: today: b - black coffee & half SB Vanilla Creame Meal Bar s - EAS Carb Control Strawberry/cream Protein Shake l - crab cake 1/2cup salad d - 1 stuffed cabage roll s - handful walnuts
  18. So hope no one minds me posting this every day like the "what did you eat today" thread - sorta my own accountability, if I write it - I must complete ! Today: Couch to 5k Wk4 Strength Training Upper Body 15min Bike *stretching before/after*
  19. BBK, Thanks for sharing ALL aspects of your journey including the PICTURES!! Your very generous!
  20. Congrats TXG!!! Little over a month to go!!! I gotta tell ya, I think I dodge the flu bug - both DH and I. Felt crappy last wk, sorta took it easy and it passed...that or the 3 glasses of wine Sat?? Hope everyone starts to feeling better & that Spring comes early!!!
  21. I fight DH weekly from buying a Peyton Fathead. I told him he could hang it in our garage, not the game rm.
  22. From a Dem, that was cute~
  23. I've never heard of a tim tam, but one sounds good with my coffee about now *starting that time I think*. Wombat - I started going a year ago to my OBGYN to get monthly B12 shots. My TOM wasn't just painful, but awfuly draining...it seems to have worked some *could all be in my head*, but I dont' seem to be dragged down as much during that lovely time. When all else fails, I get the heating pad out!
  24. Luu - Yeah I ended up having to go self pay. Again I would call your Insurance Co directly and ask all questions as it pertains to Bariatric Surgery. I think each "company has different riders that can include/exclude certain procedures & have different requirements. I'm going to guess that your employer does not have the right to know that you plan on having this done (unless you tell them), the same they wouldn't if you participate in an EAP (employee assistance program - depression / drugs / etc.)...Good luck, please keep us updated on your outcome. Lulu
  25. Hi, I can definitely eat more the week before TOM, and my cravings are all "salty". I try to still keep in diet mode, but will eat a tad more & allow for a "treat" during that period (no pun..lol). I don't weigh myself during that time nor do I schedule a fill. I'm pretty restricted now, and next wk will be the real test. Good luck to ya!!
