  1. No mistake it was me. The nurse just said "it is not a long prescription it is just for preventative reasons to take it during surgery and the two days after because of the anesthesia" not a clerical error unfortunately.
  2. Glad to hear you are during somewhat well. Can't wait to get there, although I'm completely freaking out right now
  3. Got a call back and no real explanation other than in his opinion he thinks is safer for the surgery. That I could make an appt and go back in to discuss it with him for $350 a visit. I said well I'm think it's poor practice that after all my tests you didn't feel it necessary to inform me that was his plan and I had to learn from pre op nurse. Ultimately now I am to discuss it with the surgeon and the anesthesiologist. WHAT?!?!?!? I don't know what to even do now
  4. Hi! Okay 18 days until surgery. Yesterday got the pre op call from hospital and everything went well until they told me to take heart medication day of surgery. Now, I don't take heart medication nor have I ever. I take Armour for my thyroid and that is all the meds I take. I do not have sleep apnea, etc. I am fat with slightly elevated cholesterol. I have a perfect EKG, perfect Echo, and very normal and sometimes lower BP. I called the cardiologist office because I was never informed of taking Atenolol even for just 3 days by his office at all. After waiting a day and a half I got a call from his office. The only explanation I got that he feels in his opinion it is to prevent any heart issues during surgery period. Now to me that isn't really an explanation as to why a perfectly heart healthy person would take it since I just had 2 hip surgeries last year and also two other surgeries and of course the endoscope all without taking heart medication. The nurse wanted me to make an appt to go back in to office at $350 a pop for him to explain why. I said well I think it is poor practice to not even inform your patient the need heart medication for surgery, that they just need to believe he is right. Has anyone else had to take heart medication just for surgery and for 2 days post op? I am so scared about the surgery anyway and now I'm afraid my bp would drop so much under anesthesia that it could kill me. Sorry I'm normal a stable person, but I've been close to tears since yesterday.
  5. Thanks. I am waiting for a call from cardiologist tomorrow and some very good answers. The pre op nurse said if I didn't get a script that the anesthesiologist would take care of giving it to me...YIKES!!! I waspassed nervous and on to excited about my surgery, but now I am so anxious and scared again.
  6. Congratulations!!! I have 19 more days!! Keep us posted on your recovery!!
  7. Congratulations!!! I have 19 more days!! Keep us posted on your recovery!!
  8. Okay I have a question since we are talking cardiologist. I had my pre op interview or whatever with the hospital before surgery to discuss health history and such. Everything was fine until the end when she said I had to take my atenolol 25mg morning of surgery and 2 days post op. I said "excuse me? My what?" Now a little history I have a perfect EKG, perfect ECHO, and BP runs 120/70 or 110/70. So why would I take heart medication?? Is this normal? No one from cardiologist even spoke a word of it. Talk about raise in anxiety and fear. I have a call into the cardiologist so he can explain things to me but 19 days before surgery I didn't need this!!
  9. I don't even have a prescription for it. Apparently cardiologist ordered it? I didn't ask for anxiety meds and have never ever taken them before. I put a call into the office. Thank God I have 19 days until my surgery so they can explain it to me. I will probably have anxiety by the time the surgery comes but not yet.....
  10. Okay got the call for preauthorization from the hospital for my surgery. They informed me that the cardiologist ordered me to take Atenolol the day of surgery and 2 days after surgery. I am seriously afraid of that. I had perfect EKG, perfect ECHO, and my blood pressure is 120/70 on a good day maybe 110/60 even. Why do I need to take a beta blocker?? Is this common practice?? IM REALLY SCARED!!!
  11. I'm so nervous, anxious as well!!!!! Ugh!!! I also am flying from FL to IL 3 wks and 2 days post op for a 2 week stay and I'm freaking out about that as well. OMG!!!
  12. You look great Mocha!! I can't wait until I'm in onederland as well. Surgery is 9/23
  13. I love this. My pre op diet starts on the 15th as well. 20 more days of "fat freedom". Tonight is Mexican and later this week is Pizza. That is all. I've been watching what I've been eating for months now. Just a couple last hurrahs!!

  15. My surgery is 9/23 as well!!
  16. My diet is going to be 4 protein shakes a day and the rest fluids and then the 3 days before surgery clear fluids only. I really want to move up my surgery, but I don't think that's going to happen.
  17. My surgery is coming up 9/23 and I've heard how horrid the Isopure is....I may just have to try some of these tricks!!
  18. I wish I could get mine moved up from 9/23. I have to go to Illinois from 10/16- 11/3 and just wanted more time to heal at home, but doctor office didn't call me back and they need the letter in hand before surgery. My mail was sent to old address and being sent to me already but I probably won't have the letter in hand until Friday
  19. Mine is 9/23 and I have to do a week pre-op full liquid and 3 days before surgery clear liquid only.
