  1. Virginia Beach here
  2. When you say brushing skin, brushing skin with what?
  3. Unfortunately I still don't have a date. I was originally scheduled for Jan, but because my protein was too low I had to wait a whole month to increase my protein to normal, and was looking at a Feb surgery date. Now it's looking like it's going to be March because of my stupid protein still being too low. Went from 6 to 8 months of waiting for a freaking surgery date...smh
  4. @@InspirationMySon, We've been besties since high school almost 20 years ago, so a lot of her actions I've learned to put up with. And yes there's been plenty of fights because of her actions but I've also come to terms that it's just her personality and unfortunately that's a part of her that won't change.
  5. Praying for your speedy recovery
  6. @@Happyfrog4u, thank you for taking the time to answer my post. I totally agree with you and deep down I know that I'll change. Partly because I'm going to be losing a whole lot of weight, a whole person. And I believe that she will not accept the new me, but it's definitely not going to stop me from having this surgery to become a better, healthier me.
  7. @@drmeow, I didn't know that. The surgeon is sending me back to the nutritionist on Monday to get me on a higher protein diet. If my protein still doesn't increase to a normal level then they want me to follow up with my PCP to determine the real cause. And to my knowledge all of my other tests must have came back normal and they only mentioned the protein and my iron being a little too low. So I'm starting a supplement for iron. But no one ever told me about the affect the protein will have on your recovery so I thank you for that. And I'm glad that my surgeon is taking it serious as well.
  8. Thank god for this site because I'd go crazy without it. It's nice to talk with others who understand and have some what an idea of what I'm going through.
  9. @@Djmohr, thank you! Like you I haven't missed a single appointment so I thought that I would've had the surgery by now, but not looking that way. So I went from having my surgery in Jan to possibly having it in March or early April. Oy!
  10. Thank you for that. I needed to know that I wasn't alone because what really hurts is That I started this process about 2 months before my brother did and he is scheduled to have his surgery 2/11. He's going through a different practice than me. They were going to schedule him for 1/28 but that was too soon for him to get time off work. I thought the reason why his process is going so smoothly is because he has better insurance than my medicaid. I just feel discouraged. @@della street thanks again for sharing your story because it really does help.
  11. Well for those that don't know, I started this process back in July 2014 and because I have Optima Family Care ( medicaid) there is a 6 months waiting period filled with pre op testing, psych evals, nutrition and surgeon visits. We'll I completed my lab work back in Dec and found out that my Protein was too low to operate and my goal was to increase my protein to normal in order to have the surgery. I had to also wait an additional 30 days before I can get tested again. Fast forward to 30 days later and not only did my protein remain below the norm but it in fact dropped some more. Keep in mind I started drinking Protein shakes, I have eggs for Breakfast every morning. I bought a huge container of peanuts from Sam's Club and I eat a lot of chicken and fish, so how could this be, right? Now I have to go back to nutritionist Monday to get me on a high protein diet. Now I have to wait another month to be tested again. If my protein is still too low I have to go back to PCP to determine if there is an underlying problem that is affecting my protein. This is the best part, I received a letter from medicaid stating that my medical coverage will be expiring effective 1/31, because according to them they never received my renewal form that they claimed to have mailed out that I never received. Unfortunately there was no way for me to stop them from cancelling my insurance coverage so I had to re apply by phone yesterday for like an hour. So now my insurance have to be reinstated before I can have my blood drawn again. And according to medicaid policy, it takes up to 45 days to process an application. I'm starting to feel that I'm not meant to have this surgery. Please someone help me keep my sanity and stay focus because I'm this close to saying nevermind.
  12. Is it just me but does it seem like they make you wait on purpose? They know how badly you want the surgery, and make you jump through hoops just to qualify but they take all day just to call you to schedule the surgery. I had to complete 6 mos of requirements and is now waiting for a date. I don't want to blow their phone lines up, but I really believe they make you wait on purpose. Sorry just venting!
  13. Thanks for sharing. That is truly something to look forward to.
  14. Hope all goes well for you. You're in my prayers
  15. Congrats you look amazing
  16. Just an fyi...We all should be taking vitamins anyway. Whether you get the sleeve, bypass, lap band or any other weight loss surgery. We should be taking vitamins. Even if you aren't having surgery you should be taking vitamins. I heard a lot of people speak against the bypass due to one of the reasons being dependent on supplements for the rest of your life, but technically shouldn't we be doing that anyway??? Is that such a bad thing???
  17. That's why I'm just preparing myself for what I already know. She's too self absorbed and I believe in my heart that our friendship will dwindle.
  18. @@InspirationMySon, I've thought about all those points you made. When I say she has some good qualities I'm talking about when I need her she's there. If I ever needed anything she'd give it to me no questions asked. We've been friends for almost 20 years and me call each other sisters. I just don't like her way of thinking, because in her mind it's all about her. If this were her movie she'd be the hero and I'd be the sidekick. I noticed that most of these posts are talking about friends who are also plus size. I haven't heard any one mention that they have a skinny friend. So was I hanging out with the wrong crowd in the first place.
  19. Have any of you ever started the process of getting the bypass and changed your mind and got t g e sleeve??? I'm done with my 6 mos supervised diet and waiting on a surgery date. I originally wanted the sleeve but because I had type II diabetes my surgeon suggested the bypass. I really want the sleeve but fear that it's too late to change my mind. Can anyone please tell me if they've been in this same situation and if so what did they do? Also your opinion and advice would be greatly appreciated.
  20. Those 6 mos are gonna go by so fast. Seem like mine did. I started my 6 mos July 2014 and completed everything this past Dec. I also thought t g at it would take forever, but it actually went by pretty fast.
  21. It's hard to quit a habit that if you're like me you've smoked for years. Especially when there are triggers, like going out for me, and home life for you, and those triggers sparks up the urge to smoke, no pun intended. ..lol...but you make a decision to stop and you find yourself falling back on old habits or making excuses as to why you back slid in the first place, like myself. But I'm only human and although I've been smoke free for about 2 weeks now, I still think about smoking, but then I think about how badly I want the surgery and I'm back on track. That's what's been helping and lots of gum chewing...lol
  22. Originally I chose the sleeve because I wasn't really feeling the whole bypass thing, and never thought twice about the lap band. After my first consultation with the surgeon he chose the bypass for me because of me being a type II diabetic and high blood pressure. Wasn't happy at first but after speaking with the surgeon and doing my own research I decided that maybe the bypass would be a better option for me.
  23. I'm just curious to find out how your life changed after surgery? Did it change for better or for worse?? How are others treating you and are you completely satisfied with your decision to have surgery?? No regrets??
  24. Best of luck to you, and judging by how fast everything is going for you, your surgery may be scheduled for late Feb or early March.
  25. @@Pac-woman well said. I totally agree with your post. You think that you r friends, especially the ones closest to you would be the most supportive because they can clearly see how your weight plays a huge role in your insecurities, but they also were comfortable knowing that you were no competition for them when you're about 200lbs heavier than they are. I'm just curious to see how are friendship will change after surgery and if it will survive.
