  1. thank you very much; this is consistent with my experience and confirms my dr.'s view that this is the period that is frustrating. I am up to approx 7cc and really feeling it for the first time since surgery.
  2. Karen, I was banded on october 22nd, too; dr. ren. I have had 4 fills and lost no weight! Down to 179 sounds awesome to me!!
  3. What are your go to foods to keep in the house or order out? What are the foods you can no longer eat/need to steer clear of?
  4. How many cc's will dr do at one time? How many are you up to so the band works?
  5. Dr discovered my hh while doing surgery for the band. Fixed it and inserted band all in one surgery in about 20 minutes! good luck
  6. I just got first fill (at 3 weeks post op) and she would only do 2 cc's. 4.9 sounds very high.
  7. I awoke from surgery filled with joy! No problems. I had surgery Monday w/hh op. Left hosp tuesday and am now at home. Minimal pain and discomfort, but taking the vicodin to help sleep.
  8. I had my lap band surgery yesterday and when she got in there, determined I had HH. Fixed the HH and installed the band in one op. Feeling great!:clap2:

  12. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement. Had my surgical preadmission stuff today at hospital. Spoke with my surgeon about a question I had on anesthesia. Got a call from UH at home; I held m y breath when redialing afraid to hear a complication... the nurse assigned to my case was calling to ensure that all of my quesitons were answered and dod I know that my plan covers at home nursing care if I need someone to care for me... etc etc. I am on my way ( and lost 14 lbs on the liquids already)!:bounce:
  13. I researched the h3ll out of this topic... and I, too, selected Dr. Ren based on research + referral of several doctors + the # of bands that she had done. That she is "in network" was the icing on the cake. I am sched for surgery on Monday. Please say a prayer for me 9and I will you).
  14. last days before hospital/ :confused:for the hosiptal? first days home?
  15. Good luck tmorrow - the beginning of your new thin, vbrant life! I go to surgery on Monday so I know how you feel. Saying a prayer;)
  16. THank you all for your collective prayers and insights. My tenacious coordinator called and they had a BMI or 36; she said it is not 36 (which is still meets the criteria if also comorbidities) it is 40.1. THey said, you can appeal. She went back and checked every page of every facx to determine it was UH's clerical error in entering my height. ANd she got the approval. Presurgical visit to hosp thursday and surgery on monday am. Now I just need one of those cool thermometer things under my name Will you all please pray for me again?:whoo:
  17. Despite a BMI that UH told me exceeds the requirement for comorbidities... I think I shall prepare my list of comorbidities. DOnt have HBP or diabetes... What comorbidities do they look for? any ideas :thinkwelcome
  18. My coodinator thinks it is BS; my Dr is having a "peer to peer" conference call w United Healthcare tomorrow am. Perhpas it is just another hoop in a long littany of hoops jumped thus far (not to mention the liquid D). THanks for the support. As I chose a Dr in network and I exceed the BMI cutoff by 5 and all of my paperwork is in good order.... ahhhhhhhhhhhhh:embarassed:
  19. Scared, but excited. The liquid diet is easier than I expected.
  20. Feeling freedom and clarity after 7 days of liquids. Sipping a Choc slimfast in a martini glass
