  1. Georgette .. My DR "offered" a list of doctors as well.. That included : NUT - she did not take my insurance, so i did not use her.. I found one on my policy PSYCH - she did not take my insurance So i used the evaluation on line. Endoscopy - "offered" by My Surgeon, but his anesthesiologist did NOT take my insurance.. So I used someone else who did Cardiology - i used one of their recommendations Endocrinology - one of theirs Pulmonary - one of theirs Ask the office.. There should be NOTHING that indicated you must use their in house staff...just my 2 cents..

  4. Hi everyone ! Bayside Queens here.. Getting Sleeved 8/4/2014 w/ Dr Holover @ Mercy Medical in Long Island...psyched & scared $hitless all at the same time. Georgette.. I have United Oxford.. the in-house Psych did not take my insurance and i was not willing to pay her out of pocket.. I found : bariatricEvaluation online.. Cost $100 bucks. Took a 100 question survey online.. Made a telephone appointment with the Licensed Pcych.. We spoke for about 40 minutes or so.. She faxed a letter to my surgeon stating that she "approved me " ( i guess another way of saying i'm not completely nuts LOL ). My Drs office accepted it and submitted that along with all of the other pre testing requirements that i did in the 6 month waiting period..i got approved & i am getting sleeved in 2 days.. Hope that helps.
  5. Hi everyone..when you mention refried beans.. Are you talking about canned? Or are you making your own...and in that case does anyone have a good recipe?

  8. Hello July .. I am actually August 4 th, but hoping to get some feedback.. I have been on my pre-op for 11 days..surgery Monday. On sunday i am doing all clear liquids..but obviously protein drinks are not "clear"... Did any of you do Isopure protein, and do you think that would be ok for day before surgery?
  9. Hey Georgia !!! Yes dr holover is in the same office.. They actually just moved to a HUGE facility in Roslyn Heights. Getting sleeved on Monday 8/4 ... Scared $hitless but soooo excited. Been Doing my pre op liquid ( sigh) ..rJust got my GP MEDICAL clearance yesterday..my doc actually said that she has not seen me this happy in a long time . You are being sleeved, yes?
  10. Morning everyone..August 4th here..got my medical clearance from my GP yesterday..she gave me a copy of the clearance letter AS WELL as faxing it over. I was given that advice from the Pre Surgical group, to avoid any confusion if anything "gets lost in the shuffle". I have to call on Friday afternoon to get my surgery time. Doing the liquid has not been the easiest... But then again, nothing worth having comes easy, right? I am so ready to get on with my life. Hope you all have a great day !!
  11. Hi Everyone.. getting Sleeved on August 4th.. Q: on the 1st week clear liquid..other than ISOPURE.. would I be able to get my Protein using unjury Unflavored Protein powder mixed in w/ Crystal Lite or something along those lines? Currently on my PRE-Op diet & I am using Body Fortress chocolate whey Isolate powder, which when mixed, is obviously not clear.. Feedback is always very much appreciated ..
  12. Hi Everyone !! Getting Sleeved August 4th. Day 7 of my Pre-op.. Doing Protein shakes for 2-3 meals.. I have eaten three times this week, but the meals have consisted of protein, low fat , minimum carbs. ( no funerals ) as a snack, I have eaten Non fat cottage cheese with a hand full of blueberries or a non fat greek yogurt if I feel I have to "eat" something. 7 days left.. Loser's Bench... I'm on my way..
  13. I applied for Insure Nutrition as well.. They sent the prescription to my Doc, who refused it saying that Premier Protein is NOT acceptable by the in house NUT..Don't know if it is because they want you to buy the in office Bariatric Advantage, but i am doing my pre op diet & using Body Fortress Chocolate. One scoop : 30 grams protein, 170 calories.. A large container at Walmart $15.88

  17. Hi..im with my partner of 30 years and have always struggled with my weight since early teens. While your partner may love you no matter what size you are.. Yes.. It is about you. When i explained to my honey, this was about me and if you cannot say something supportive, please don't say anything at all.. Communication is key..but it IS about you/ us..
  18. I too have not-told many people.. My spouse ( who is against it because, after all it is SURGERY ) and 1 friend who had bypass 10 years ago. I have no desire to hear anyone's opinion.. Cause EVERYBODY's got one...no parents, siblings, co workers.. Nothing. I told work i am having surgery for some female plumbing issues..that usually stops the guys from asking more questions..anyone who asks further, i will say i'm having a fibroid removed.. I will cross the post op questions when i get to it. Just my 2 cents...
  19. Find a new surgeon!
  20. august 4th here ! Start my pre op diet on monday... Scared $hitless!
  21. Hi...getting my sleeve Aug 4th... Been doing the six month wait with United Oxford..my surgeon required all the testing as well...meet with NUT, endoscopy, cardio & stress test ..etc... The Psych in house at Drs office did not take my insurance..and would have cost me $600.. So i DID use the online service. Filled out long questionnaire on line.. Submitted it. Scheduled the phone session with Psych. Paid the $100 by phone.. Had the session and they then faxed the "recommendation letter" to my Surgeon. His office accepted it. I finished all of surgeons requirements & my surgery coordinator submitted everything to Oxford & i was approved
