How do you handle eating with others?
Yesterday my surgeon cleared me for solid food and today I was invited to have lunch at a friend's. I told them earlier that I had a surgery to fix my digestive system so I cannot eat much and I will have to eat slowly. My friends didn't ask question about my surgery and they told me to take my time to eat. They're done with their food after 15 minutes while I was still nibbling on mine, so I told them to go ahead with dessert without me. Still I finished eating 15 minutes after they were done with fruits, they were kind enough to understand though. Tomorrow I'll have lunch with my father-in-law and his girlfriend at a restaurant. I want to tell him about my surgery but I don't want to tell his girlfriend so I think I'll just eat as slowly as I can and hope that they won't finish their food too quickly.

Aww, sorry to hear that. Well, my surgeon didn't forbid me from eating natural foof at all and I trust him as he performs more than 300 patients of WLS per year.

JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP
I just had my first post-op check up today with my doctor (already posted the thread earlier in the louge). I told him that I hit the stall for 3 days so he told me to eat more to lose more weight! He also told me NOT to go on the scale everyday. The most exciting thing is I'm cleared for solid food YAY! (sleeved on 07/07/14 total lost pre-op 20 lbs)

First one month check-up clear for solid food! woohoo!
My doctor never gave me calories limit. He is more into the small portion. He said I should eat a little bit of everything (Carb, Protein, fat, fruits, vegetable) Oh, he told me to eat 1 Cereal bar for afternoon snack for the Vitamins... and I hate cereal bar!!!

First one month check-up clear for solid food! woohoo!
I've lost totally post-op 22 lbs and just saw my doctor today for the first check-up. He told me that I should eat solid normal food now and stop with the Soup and soft food. Still no restriction for food excepr candies, sweet stuff and soda. I took photos of most of my food during one month to show him with the portion (compare to my iPhone), he said I should eat more to lose weight. Now he ordered me to eat my meal in the portion of the iPhone!! OMG, I thought I would die from stuffing myself for that amount of food but actually it's fine. Just make sure to chew well and eat verrrrrrrrrrrry slowly. So my first solid meal I went for Japanese, 1 small grilled ravioli, 1 beef & cheese teriyaki, 1 table spoon of rice and some green salad with sesame dressing. Everything's gone in 50 minutes hehe except the rice because I chose to eat more salad instead. I can exercise, go to swimming pool etc. Oh, I do have to increase also the Water intake from 1 litre to 1.5 litre. Oh I'm so happy and feel like back to normal again. I'm eating out this weekend tomorrow I was invited to lunch at my friend's and on Sunday, brunch with my inlaws at a restaurant. It's going to be my first meal at the restaurant but my husband will be my buddy. He will choose 2 light dishes that he can eat his dish and help me with my left over, so it won't be too obvious because I didn't tell my family that I had the sleeve done. Now I feel like the real challenge has just started.

What do you do when they say you look to thin?
My friend got the Gastric bypass a few years ago and she told me that first year of losing weight, she look terrible, like she was sick or something but after a while she looks fine and healthier. Probably it's just a phrase and people need to get used to the new you. I only lost 39.6 lbs and sent a photo to a friend, she said, you looked prettier when you're fat. Oookay! lol

Coffee/caffeine
Funny that the first day I was allowed to drink, the first Breakfast that the hospital offered me was a cup of coffee or tea! Anyway, I drink my coffee everyday at least 2 cups but only decaf. My surgeon didn't have any restriction for coffee. Oh, I've been sleeved in France, by the way.

when do you start getting rid of clothes?
I really loved this site, there're all questions I wanted to ask lol. I'm now on my 5th week and my clothes are getting lose but I'm still be able to wear them. Plus I kept some favourite clothes that I loved, I have a collection of size 36-44 (I was wearing size 46-48 pre-op) even underwear lol I don't know when I should clear up my wardrobe but I definitely would LOVE to see some empty space for the new ones. I'll probably keep some big size clothes that I really like as well, as souvenir to remind me how big I was and I shouldn't never go back into them ever again,

Do you see your progress?
I'm only 4 weeks out and lost total pre and post-op 18 kg which people think it's a LOT and they can see the difference and I drop 2 sizes of cloths already but I myself really don't see the big difference. I'm just telling myself to be patient, it will come. I still have a long way to go. By the way, If I lost as much as you have, I'd be so thrilled!

Pasta and Rice?
I'm Thai, and rice is like bread for Thai cuisine but I think I overate rice per meal made me gain weight so fast. So during the pre-op I ate rice very little only for Breakfast or lunch but not for dinner and it worked so well. Now I'm 5 weeks out on soft food and I started to have congee with soft fish and veggie (2 tbs of Congee) for breakfast and it works well. I found I have to change food types after 1 or 2 days stall and eating food with Asian seasoning is heaven! I added some ginger, sesame oil, soja sauce for the flavour but carefully enough for sodium intakes. I ate Pasta once and I had bad bad bad reflux laster so, no pasta for me, I think for a long long time!

JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP
Congrats on the 43 lls lost. I'm actually 4 weeks out but haven't had any check up yet. (Doctor postponed the appointment). I've lost only 20.68 lbs post-op then hit the stall. Learnt from others that the weight will drop eventually as I've done everything right, but I'm still a bit upset anyway. :-(

What's the story behind your profile name?
I really enjoy reading this thread, fun and interesting. Mine, I just love Tinkerbell when I was little, I drew her everywhere I could and I grew up loving all fairy tales. Hoping that my sleeve will have a happy ending like a fairy tale.
