  1. Definitely be honest with your surgery staff. My surgeon explain that most peoples livers were usually small enough already but there is no way to just look at you and tell that your liver is big or small with out getting in there. I would definitely make sure not to cheat anymore but you may be fine.
  2. Kgot01 how did it go?
  3. I too am having a similar experience but, as I have explained in other posts, I am up 18-19 hours a day and work nights. My band was primed at surgery and I have a .7 fill for a total of 5.7 cc. I currently tolerate solids that are softer and have found that I am struggling to get in the foods higher in protein. Right now I supplement my protein with 1-2 shakes a day just so I get it in. I am convinced this is a mild case of bandster hell. The fact that you see a difference in your consumption of food however is still a triumph. It's important that you continue to listen to you body and realize when you are satisfied. Should you decide to get a fill you will find that your portions will decrease a little more. Best wishes!
  4. Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I know I need more sleep but right now it just can't be helped. I should also mention I have a primed band with 5 cc and .07 fill. I had satiety until I went back to work and started get less sleep and staying up all night. Darn it!
  5. I am having the hardest time with my eating now that I can have mushies. I work nights. This would be cut and dry if that is all I had going but I work an odd schedule, 8 p - 5 a. Once I get off in the morning I get my kid ready for school and drop him off by 7:45. Sometimes I go right to bed and sleep until about 1:30. From there I might make a few calls or load clothes, etc. At 2 I go get in line to get my kid from school. Once I get home I do homework and the day just continues on through my work cycle on into the next morning. As you can see from that shpill I am up from roughly 1:30 pm to about 8:00 am the next day...that is about 18-19 hours that I am up sometimes. Now that my hunger is increasing post op I find that I am eating more ...not nearly as much pre op but I'm having trouble timing things. I find that my sleep schedule is not consistent and for the moment it just can't be so sometimes eating makes laying down uncomfortable or I might go to bed and wake up so hungry my stomach is cramping and growling. Right now the only consistent window I have for exercise is the 1.3 mile walk to my sons school in the morning and 1.3 miles back. I live in Texas so 2:00 pm is the wrong time to be trying to walk up there! With the conventional schedule I keep right now it's just a little frustrating. I am also finding that I am eating/drinking more now that I am back at work. I was home for three weeks and had very little hunger. 3 meals/ Protein drinks (still fluctuating between full liquids and mu shies) satified me when I was home now I am hungry all the time. Oh dear.
  6. I found and still find that if I walk a bit the gas dispels as well as massaging the abdomen in a mostly circular pattern.
  7. I googled and came up with a number of results including the following http://www.medicinenet.com/lap_band_surgery_gastric_banding/miami-gardens-fl_city.htm . As 2muchfun suggested you might contact them and inquire if they provide aftercare for patients like yourself.
  8. What is the pouch test an the 5:2 diet? Sorry.
  9. My hunger hasn't been bad it has only increased in this last week. Chewing is going relatively well. I should have known there were fluids in my band when eggs stumbled down once (they didn't get stuck but it was very uncomfortable).
  10. Has anyone else had liquid put in their band and left in at the time of surgery. I found that I had 5 cc at the time of surgery at my first fill. I now have 5.7 cc anyone else?
  11. Hello all! I have been on electronics restriction (thanks to my loving boyfriend). I am back and feeling great! Surgery went very smoothly. I did have a pretty good size hernia that had to be repair but get this I didn't get the dreaded back pain from all the gas and stuff. My pain was minimal I did a lot of moving around that first week...with limits of course. Thank you for all you thoughts and prayer....banded finally and 11lbs down!
  12. Hello all. I was banded two days ago. I have no real pain just a lot of discomfort not the sternum area. I was wondering if anyone who had a hernia repair done with surgery felt the same. It's a little had to describe. It is kinda like a little tightness or a pull not sure. I was fortunate enough to avoid the dreaded shoulder pain from gas buildup. YAY!
  13. Hello All! Tomorrow morning is the day! I get banded ladies and gents. I've got my rx's, heating pad, liquids, gas-x, chapstick, loose clothes, and this feeling of anticipation. The day is finally here. For those of you who have speaking with me on the board you know that I have been working really hard to listen to my body. My goal was to begin retraining my brain before being banded. As with everything else in my life I find that if I prepare myself I tend to do well with what I do. I've learned so much just getting ready for surgery, being on the pre-op diet, and I've already had a few non scale victories. I managed to complete my pre-op diet with out trouble, I've listened to my body every step of the way and I feel like a million bucks. I work tonight and then I am off to surgery tomorrow. Any last words of wisdom.....
  14. Congrats on the pants size. It's quite possible the scale isn't moving if you work out...you know muscle weighs more than fat. Anyway nice job!
  15. Terribly sorry to stick my two cents in but I worked in the healthcare field for about 6 years. What you overheard about another patient was definitely wrong and yes I completely agree with you but a bigger issue is what other types of information they share among themselves and others overhear. This is something that is usually forbidden at most providers offices. I'm not so much concerned what they may say about me but what personal information of mine or anyone else's they may be leaking. Remember there are other medical conditions that some may want to keep private. #stepping down off my soapbox
  16. I am still pre-op but with all the research and googling and browsing I have done, it seems like some people feel their band is tighter in the morning and at certain times on other days. I found this tid bit of information as I listened to various segments of a vlog by bandedwendy on youtube. She describes times when she feels tighter than others. You might take a look at some of her segments. http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCY7CuDd3xtv5i9S2X7w8rzg
  17. You've done a great job! All those years without maintenance to you band, that is truly impressive. With a will like that I'm sure you will get to goal. Congrats on the new insurance. It's amazing the differences from one to the other.
  18. Alright! The countdown is almost over for me...for surgery that is then we get to move on to the numbers that really matter. I just thought I would take inventory this week and make sure I've got everything I will need at least the first few days. I plan to get up and move around lots. I just don't really think I want to have to go to any too public places. So I've got.... Hydration, everything from Diet Snapple to Water, broth, Soups I plan to drain and drink the broth from, sf popsicles, sf Jello, Protein shakes, Vitamins, my post op prescriptions, a heating pad, chap-stick (I already have the driest lips on the planet no need to let them bust), Tylenol Children's Meltaways since I don't particularly care for hydrocodone and as a gift to myself, I traded in my BodyBugg for a new Jawbone Up so I get to see my progress a little easier and track myself from surgery onward...any thing I am forgetting ladies and gents?
  19. Are you talking about that supplement, protein powder, they have so many products....
  20. I love lean body RTD shakes. They come in 25g and 40g of Protein. I also love OhYeah! those have 32g protein and come in a variety of flavors. They are a little expensive but because I have always only substituted them on the go anyway they are almost a treat and did I mention they are delicious. The last one I recommend is 52 E it is only found at HEB grocery stores in TX but the vanilla is tasty when I can't get my hands on one of the others. There are links below so you can take a look at the nutritional details. http://www.labrada.com/moreinfo_leanbodyrtd.shtml http://www.labrada.com/store/LeanBodyontheGo.html http://www.ohyeahnutrition.com/collections/all/products/nutritional-shakes http://www.heb.com/page/healthy-primo-picks/52e-sports-nutrition-drink My nutritionist and surgeon feel the same. They say after surgery they would like most of my protein to come from real food. Especially once I am back on solids. The reason they do this is because the shakes are liquid and slide right past the band.
  21. Yaaaay! Congrats!
  22. Hello all. Well who knew a pre-op diet could be so enlightening. I've been very careful to listen to my body. Rather than just putting something in my mouth just because, I am really trying to be vigilant about looking for queues when it is truly time to hydrate or eat. My saving grace at the moment are the sugar free popsicles. I found tropical flavors. Yum! I know some of you have read that I like lean body shakes. I recent found on that is 40 gm Protein. I typically split it in half. They have a thicker consistency almost like chocolate milk. So far so good.
  23. Congrats on your pending surgery. I'm not an Aug bander. I go in a week before you but I will keep you in my prayers.
