  1. I have finally gotten my surgery date which will be on April 1st 2015. I am so excited. I have some time to prepare a little more but it has finally become real. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Getting that date is a wonderful feeling.
  2. Thanks I am trying to have as much patience as possible just disappointed that I thought I would have a date this week. I am being very kind. I left a message this morning letting her know that I wanted to make sure that she received my paper work so that we can get the surgery scheduled and she did return my call, but told me it will be next week when she calls with a date. I just was looking forward to finally having a date and now have to wait another week. I can manage. It is just frustrating.
  3. I am so frustrated right now. I just want to scream. Beginning of January I spoke with my surgeons office and they told me they had a paper for me to sign and mail back to them and once the woman who would schedule my surgery gets back from vacation which was on the 26th she will work on getting me scheduled. I called today and left a voicemail. I was so excited when I saw she was calling me back until she told me she received my paper and will call me back next week to schedule surgery because she has a whole stack to schedule. I am running out of patience. I need this surgery date.
  4. Thank you Trever. Alexsisv thank you for the the positive support. I need all that I can get right now.
  5. I made a phone call to the surgeons office yesterday to see if my psych evaluation was received. It was received and signed off on. They mailed out my insurance papers for me to sign. The girl will be on vacation until the 26th but once she gets back my surgery will be scheduled. It is all becoming so real. I am excited, bit I am more scared than anything. I am so nervous that I will fail. I'm full of what if's. I have a lot of support and they help a lot, but it is difficult. I know I can do this, but it will be a very hard road.
  6. I have some amazing news. On December 8th I go for my last supervised diet appointment with my doctor and then on December 18th I have my psych evaluation. That is all I am waiting on to get my approval process started. I hope to have approval by January.
  7. I am trying to use a protein powder to help me try to lose weight before surgery and so that I can get used to drinking something and not eating as much.
  8. I am doing my 3 month supervised diet right now for gastric bypass surgery. I was wondering if anyone has or is doing protein shakes prior to surgery. If so, what is a recommended amount of protein for 1 serving? Any help would be appreciated.
  9. I started my 3 month supervised diet October 6th. I am hoping for January or February
  10. I have a fee of $370 for the same thing.
  11. If you have severe acid reflux I would be sure to mention that to the surgeon. That can decide what surgery you get. My surgeon said that I have to get the gastric bypass because the sleeve will cause severe acid reflux to be worse and they no longer do the lap band where I am going.
  12. I am from Illinois. Having my surgery in Peoria Illinois.
  13. Lkk0158 I hope you are able to get your report sent in soon so that you can have your surgery. James thank you for the advice. Today is the day that I start dieting and exercising like I am supposed to. I know it will be hard for me at first but I figure the sooner I start the easier it will be when I get close to surgery.
  14. Thanks Beni. I do a lot of research and I am constantly on here. I have been researching it since February. I started the process in July. I have close friends who have had the surgery and they run the support group in the city that they live in.
  15. I met with my surgeon for the first time on October 2nd. Since I have acid reflux really bad, my only option for weight loss surgery is the gastric bypass. I was prepared for this choice because I have done a lot of research on wls. I have 3 month worth of diet and Dr visits, and about 6 weeks after that should be my surgery. Is there any advice or information that anyone thinks I should know?
  16. Just had my consultation today and I will be having rny gastric bypass because the sleeve is out of the question for me since I have such bad acid reflux
  17. Luckily I have no insurance requirements but I do have 3 month diet required by the surgeon. They told me the same thing. They just want me to be able to follow it and get in the right midset
  18. My meeting with the surgeon went really really well. My insurance has no requirements but the surgeon requires 3 months worth of supervised diet appointments with my physician, which I already made all 3 appointments. My last one will be in December. During the 3 months I will attend 1 class and a support group once a month. I will also get my psych evaluation done during the 3 months. After they get all of my paperwork including the 3rd follow up they will schedule my surgery for about 6 weeks after that. I'm looking at a February or March date. I'm glad because I'm getting married November 2015.
  19. Today is the day that I meet my surgeon. I will also find out my insurance requirements. Wish me luck.
  20. Good luck on the scheduling of your surgery ready2B. Thank you for the tips. I am trying to prepare myself as much as possible but I know I will never be 100% prepared that is just impossible
  21. I have started a list of questions but any suggestions of questions would be helpful. My surgeon does not do lap band so that is out. The sleeve is probably out because I have severe acid reflux. I will end up with either the bypass or a newer surgery I don't remember the name. It's something switch
  22. October 2nd is getting closer and I am getting really nervous about meeting with the surgeon for initial consultation. I keep asking myself if this is what I really want to do. The answer is back and forth. I don't want to have to go through the surgery but I also don't want to be dying at an early age. I don't want to live a life of pain and misery like I have been. This surgery is a must.
  23. #9grammy from what I have read on here, if you have acid reflux the sleeve could make it worse causing problems with esophagus. Then they end up having a revision to the bypass. I don't know if this happens to everyone with the acid reflux who gets the sleeve but I have read of a lot of people having that problem here.
  24. Thank you for the suggestions. I will be writing a list to take with me to the surgeon.
  25. I finally get my initial consultation with my surgeon on October 2 so it is coming up fast. I am trying to be as prepared as I can be. I know something will be missed because there will never be a perfect appointment where I will leave knowing everything, but I want to know as much as I need to. What are questions you asked your surgeon or you think I should ask mine? Ideas will help me prepare. I know one thing I need to bring up to him is the fact that I already have acid reflux so from what I read here the sleeve is probably out of the question.
