  1. Hello! You look awesome! Keep up the great work and stay encouraged.
  2. I agree. When went to my PC for my letter of clearance, clearly she was surprised and a little put off by the fact I went out there and got a surgery date. I asked her why she never suggested WLS. I have been her patient for 13 yrs and she and I discussed my struggles at every visit. She stated I wasn't that big. I'm 230 lbs with BMI 41.
  3. I went directly to a WL surgeon. I never consulted my primary doctor. Three months later I'm being sleeved next Friday. Check with your insurance.
  4. Hi Tricia, I'm also on the 18th, in New York. I am on the 7th day of the liquid diet and struggling through. I wish you all the best next Friday.
  5. My surgeon wants it to shrink the liver so she can get to the stomach easier. She also wants me to lose 5to 10% of my weight. 11 to 23 pounds. I'm not a sugar addict and the shakes are sweet. I just want to be able to eat eggs or fish once a day. Don't even want carbs just to eat the protein and still be around 600cals. Thanks for replying.
  6. How are you doing with your recovery? How long did you stay in the hospital? Congrats on being on the losing bench. I'm on july 18th. Had pre testing today.
  7. My BMI is 40 and I was placed on 2 two week liquid protein diet.
  8. Does anyone know if it is possible to EAT at least half of the required protein for the preop diet and do the rest in peotein shakes? My shakes has 27g per shake and 150 cals each. I would love to be able to eat hard boiled eggs and baked salmon. Any thoughts?
  9. Does your surgeon have a team of doctors he refers to? If so use them for all your needed appointments. They will be familiar with the surgery your doctor is doing and will know what you need completed. I had to get a little aggressive with my surgeon's secretary. She tried to insist I needed a SIX month supervised weight loss diet through my primary doctor. I had already checked with my insurance BEFORE I started the process. She refused to submit my paperwork to my insurance company, and became nasty and belligerent. I demanded to speak with the surgeon who called the next morning. Two days later my approval was given OVER THE PHONE!!!!!! My company did not even want paperwork faxed to them. They wanted to speak to the surgeon directly and gave approval in less than 15mins. I was called directly after and told I was approved. Fight hard for yourself it will be so worth it. This is important to you. Go after it with a vengeance and people will see your determination and pay attention. Hang in there. blessings to you
  10. Yes, I'm a believer and I will pray for you. For all of us on this journey to health.
  11. I have not told ANYONE, and dont plan to. I did tell the person staying with my 16yr old I'm having surgery, did not say what and he didn't ask. I simply don't want the questions and judgemen. This is my journey. If my mom and sistet were a live, they would of been the only people I would've told. They would also be the ones taking care of me. Ad it stands, I will be my own support.
  12. Today I am struggling with the third day of my pre op liquid diet. I feel weak, lethargic, depressed (I am an addicted coffee drinker and having severe withdrawal symptoms), and have had the same monster headache since Friday. I LOVED your post. My mind is playing tricks on me and ever so often I feel I want to go back on my decision. I know it's the lack of food. My doctor has me on three shakes that total 450cals. Reading your post and seeing your beautiful picture inspired me. As emotional and depressed I feel right now, I also feel good about going in the kitchen and making that 150cal shake!!!!! You look GORGEOUS and HAPPY!!! Congrats and thanks for the post
  13. Ok. Thanks for the response. Feel better everyday. The 18th for me. Struggling with the liquid diet.
  14. So glad you are home and on the way to recovery. How many days did you stay total in the hospital? Your activity level seems so high. I hope that's the same for me.
  15. Hi CandyPants81. Basically just the shakes. My surgeon said I should munch on celery and carrots if I get hungry. Really.???! I am cranky and have a massive headache...I gave up coffee so it must be the withdrawal from it. So, I will confess I ate two boiled eggs. I will get back on track for day three. How are you doing?
  16. Mcbutterpants.....Wow! You were able to eat real food the night before? Amazing! I'm on a two week full liquid diet. No exceptions. Did you have to do the two week liquid preop diet?
  17. Have you already had your surgery? I'm on the pre op liquid Protein diet and using Bariatric Advantage. The three shakes only add up to 450cals, but they taste ok. I'm still hungry though and have had a monster headache all day (my second day). I ate two hard boiled eggs today, but will stay on track tomorrow.
  18. Congrats on the surgery. Hope you continue to do great. Do you know why you were not required to do a pre op liquid protein diet?
  19. Hi, I'm also having my gastric sleeve on July 18th. I'm on the second day of the two week liquid diet and I have to admit I am struggling. My shakes only add up to 450 calories with 81/g protein total. I just had to boiled eggs. I hope to get back on track tomorrow. 450 calories. That is crazy. I can barely muster up the energy or desire to do anything. But hang in there.
  20. Hello 4my2girls, do you know why you were not required to do a pre op diet? I'm having surgery on the 18th and will have pre testing on the 7th. All the best to you on Monday as you start your journey.
  21. Well I'm using bariatric advantage. I've just had my second shake. A little too sweet for me. I'm not really hungry, but I will admit I would love to eat something. I'm drinking water and cleaning my house t o stay busy a nd not think about eating. Hang in there.
  22. Hi MB40buf, I'm on the 18th. I start the liquid diet today. Yes, I'm nervous about the liquid diet. My doctor wants me to lose 23 lbs. Crazy. How are you doing withth the shakes so far?
  23. So you compared to going to the dentist. I've had three open stomach surgeries, but I'm still SO nervous about getting my sleeve. Thanks for the post, I just want it to be over. But I guess we all do. Blessings.
