  1. I had my surgery on Wednesday and it's still sinking in. I told myself that I would never doubt my decision and I haven't. I knew there'd be some discomfort for a short period of time and I consider my recovery as typical. It wasn't a breeze but it wasn't unbearable. Every time I remind myself that I'm on the other side, I get giddy with excitement over what's ahead of me. I can't wait for my clothes to get loose and fitting into smaller sizes, to have more energy and to get in great shape.
  2. @I will what I want is so right. I'm only 3 days post op and this is so much easier than the pre-op diet. I fell off the wagon so many times during pre-op but now there is absolutely no temptation or thought of eating something I'm not supposed to have. It's a great feeling.
  3. @@Rovobay I think you are right. Each day gets a lot better. Last night I had a dream that I forgot I had surgery and took a big bite of something and swallowed it and then remembered and panicked. Crazy! I am very thankful that I have absolutely no appetite, I'm not even tempted by food around me. Sort of turns my (tiny) stomach to think about eating.
  4. I'm 3 days out and feel like I have narcolepsy. Very hard to stay awake. Still not feeling fantastic but doing much better than yesterday.
  5. Late on this report. I'm at 240 today.
  6. My surgery was Wednesday, the 24th. Can't remember if I replied this or not, still a bit out of it. It's a chore to get fluids down. But I know it will get easier so I'm just taking it slow.
  7. @@waitingtoexhale Congrats, I hope everything goes smoothly today. One word of advice to anyone pre-op, do not try to avoid the pain medication. That turned out to be a big mistake and my poor hubby had to go out at 4am to get my script filled. I was lucky, no gas pains at all. My stomach feels like Jillian Michaels gave me a personal ab workout for like 45 minutes. Just sore muscles really. The surgeon said they also repaired a hiatal hernia while they were in there so that makes things a bit more sore. I know each day will get a little easier and I'm so glad to be on the other side and not scared of the unknown. It's totally worth it. All of you on this site gave me tons of courage and I really appreciate it. p.s. Just the idea of food kind of disgusts me. It's hard work just to sip a Protein shake and Water.
  8. They are checking me out of the hospital as I write this. I'll say more once I get a little more energy. I certainly do not feel like doing the waltz or going on a shopping spree but I don't fee wretched. And I never once said or thought that I made the wrong choice. This is just the hard part. Now I just need to follow instructions and I will be fierce!
  9. Woohoo! Aren't you so relieved to be on the other side now? Glad to hear things went smoothly. Take it easy and I'll be a loser like you tomorrow. :-)
  10. My surgery is tomorrow too. Good luck!
  11. I really enjoyed reading your story. By the way, I think you were beautiful in your before picture even though you didn't see it. You look gorgeous now, I can't wait to wear a cute skirt like that.
  12. My surgery is tomorrow too! I feel the same way. I am just ready to get this over with so I don't have to be nervous anymore.
  13. Congrats!! I think you'll find that most of us prefer the sleeve. Hopefully you do too.
  14. It's going to work and you are going to look and feel fabulous.
  15. So exciting, can't wait to hear how everything goes. My day is Wednesday, I couldn't agree more. It is worth it.
  16. I have had my gall bladder removed and a C section and thought both were a walk in the park and didn't use pain meds for either. (Pain meds make me vomit so I avoid them if I can) I sure hope you're all right that this is easier. (I was ready to cut my own gall bladder out to stop the pain of those horrible attacks, wouldn't wish that on anyone) Since my surgery is on Wednesday, I will know soon enough and can tell you all what I think. My surgeon is pretty cool, they feed a thin wire into one of your incisions and it has several ports that releases local anesthetic to your abdomen for three days. Once the medication bag is empty, just pull the wire out and toss it. I'm going to expect it to suck and hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised that it's not that bad.
  17. @@LipstickLady And I bet if any sharks came around while you were sinking in the ocean, they'd think you are too bony to bother eating.
  18. Thanks to all the good advice I have received, I have been able to get focused on my pre-op diet and stick with it. I now see that my pre-op diet was related to my insecurity and my failure on the pre-op diet further fed my fear of failure. Self sabotage is B! So here's the crux of the issue. If I never take a risk, then I don't have to worry about failure or change or all those other scary things. But if I don't take a risk, I'll never change and get the things I want. This process really works on your mind. I'm sure I'm just scratching the surface on some of these things. But I'm so happy to have a group of people that are willing to take time out of their day to help talk me off the ledge. You are not wasting your time, it really does help.
  19. Depends on the physician and your insurance requirements. It took me almost 4 months from consultation until my surgery next week. A lot of hoops.
  20. Mine basically started today too and I am hungry. I can have 2-3 shakes a day and a light dinner and snack. I am ready for my dinner!
  21. @ Touche! I will not complain. You are absolutely right, I am very lucky. I read a post a while back where someone said their insurance didn't cover surgery so they dropped it and signed up for Obamacare insurance and it was covered. Not sure what is entailed in that but it may be worth checking into.
  22. Yay, congrats. I came across an old post of yours earlier today about the pre-op diet and saw your surgery was today and wondered how it went. (It's easy to remember you with that Houston logo. I'm a Colts fan so I'm used to seeing us beat you.) Glad you checked in and are doing well. My surgery is the 24th too. I think you are the first person I've seen that has the same day as me.
  23. I really must revive this thread. It's helping get me in the right frame of mind for this pre-op diet.
  24. @@snowkitten And Tums gives you your Calcium carbonate that you need. You hopefully get relief and get an important Vitamin at the same time.
