    Former Fatties! July Goals

Update! Today was my first two mile walk. Big news is I did it in 34 minutes. Progress, and getting stronger daily!!!
  2. Something I just figured out that I thought I would share. Along with a ton of walking I have been doing post op, I have figured out that if you sit on your toilet, and very slowly rotate your torso back and forth just a little bit (causing no pain), this really helps get rid of the gas. If you are having problems with this, give it a try.
  3. Below is the tip I sent another subscriber. Give it a try. Guzzling was my style also. Same thing, I used my timer on my phone. I started setting it for every 12 minutes, and then moved it to every 8 minutes. This helped me get into the habit of making sure I am drinking all of the time. I also used a medicine cup for the first week, to train my mind how much water I should be putting in my mouth. So in summary, park yourself somewhere, fill up a sports bottle, set your timer for whatever time you prefer to get your water. When the timer goes off, pour the water from the sports bottle into the medicine cup, and drink that amount.......then reset timer. Use this system, and you WILL stay hydrated, unless your pouch doesn't like water........ I am and have been getting at least 80 oz per day. 3 weeks post op yesterday. Down 46 lbs!!!!!

    Way to relieve gas

Ok Boppin.........you asked. I was out of my bed walking around the halls two hours after coming out of recovery. I made sure that I used the morphine pump, at its fullest to pull this off. I set the timer on my cell phone to make sure I walked EVERY hour, even if I was sleeping. I had read enough to understand that the walking was the key. If have had an unbelievably good experience, and I believe the walking was key.. Stay all over the morphine pump though, no reason to be a martyr .....

    How long before showering?

Showering was on my list of things to do before I was released. Take some comfy clothing to put on after your shower.

    Surgery July 7th 2014

I had mine ten days ago. I have had absolutely no problems. Walk as soon as you can. I was walking within 2 hours after leaving recovery. I then set my cell phone timer, to make sure I walked every hour. I also set the cell phone timer to make sure I drank every 15 minutes. Use your cell phone, for all kinds of reminders, even vitamins. I am using apps to keep track of my water and protein intake. All of this has or is helping me. Hopefully some of it will help you.

    Goal

You got this! One day at a time!!!!!
  12. Hi, I had RNY on June 25th, and have had absolutely no complications.....none! Now, I thing I am in the minority, but I have done everything my doctor suggested, and I am sure that has helped. This is a rough surgery, but my point is, not everybody has a hard time. Prepare your body, and follow directions to a T. Good luck!
  13. Just had mine on the 25th. So far so good. I am almost scared that things are going to well, and the walls are getting ready to come crashing down around me. 75grams protein, and 80oz of water today, and all three meals down, and staying down. Please pray for me to heal quickly!
  14. Ladies, how are you progressing? I am doing surprisingly well so far. Pretty sure my surgeon is a stud, and was part of a great program to prepare me for all of this. The gas is pretty extreme, mother then that, no complications. Please let me know how y'all are doing.....

    newby

Mine is all blow, blow, blow. What they gave me is green......they call it a pickle. I think it's relatively new. It vibrates pretty dramatically will blowing in it. Supposed to break up the phlegm.
  16. Here I am, sitting in my hospital bed the day after surgery. All went well with the surgery, and I have been feeling better then expected so far. Some small problems with nausea last night after my walks. I attribute that to the anesthesia, and morphine. Waiting for my leakage checks, and then seeing what my new stomach will tolerate. So far........exceeding expectations.

Finally got a date! June 23rd!

Deeward, i am only three days in, but I can safely tell you at this point, that if you do plenty of research, follow ALL of what you are taught, and be realistic expecting a certain amount of pain and discomfort, you will get through fine. So far for me, it is wayyyy worth it!

Hey ladies, I'm about 24 hours out and doing well, how are y'all?

    9 days post op!

Hey Matt! Today is surgery day for me, and your post inspired me. Glad to hear you are doing well. I passed the 'island this week, and have decided I am not weighing myself until 2 weeks post op, so will never see that number again. Looking forward to getting home after surgery. Hopefully mine goes as pain free as yours, and maybe I can give you a little weight loss completion. Talk to ya post op!
  20. I am the 25th also! I completely know how you feel! Over Eating is like an old friend to me. A friend that has been bad for me, and I am taking out of my life. I know life without my friend will be better for me, but I love my friend, and will miss it. It's time to say goodbye, and I'm glad I am in a position to do it. I pray for strength for all of us, to be able to control our urges, and quickly correct any mistakes that we may make. I hope your surgery goes well!

    Any June 24th people?

I am scheduled on the 25th. Am well into my preop diet, and shedding weight. Not finding it to difficult yet. I'm sure those days are too come!
  22. Excited. Have done a ton of research, therefore I would be an idiot if I weren't nervous also. Just got insurance approval yesterday, and I am schedule for the 25th. Been on the journey since November. Figure doing some talking with some informed people would be a good thing.
  23. Thanks! I'm new to all of this. There were no guys on the forum I was typing on. Thanks for the comment!!!
